The Solano County coroner’s office has identified the names of all four people who died in a crash Wednesday in Rio Vista.
Jordon Colvin, 20, of Rancho Cordova, has been identified as the driver of the Honda that veered into the opposing lane and struck a Chevrolet Suburban containing seven people on vacation from Mexico. That crash killed Suburban occupant Laura Poiret, in her early 70s, along with Colvin and two others in the Honda, Lacy Conway and Erica Anderson, both 18.
The Rio Vista Police Department suspects that the collision was due to alcohol, having found “numerous” open containers of alcohol in and around the Honda. The coroner’s final report will determine whether it was a case of driving under the influence, police said.
Emergency responders responded at 8:12 p.m. to state Highway 12 between Summerset and Church roads after receiving a report of a traffic collision.
The Honda appears to have been traveling west on Highway 12 when it veered off the roadway to the right, overcorrected and then entered the eastbound lane, colliding with the Chevrolet head-on. The driver and the rear passenger of the Honda were ejected from the vehicle during the crash.
Also in the Chevrolet were two girls, one 8 years old and one between 13 and 15. All of the passengers remain in hospitals in stable condition, police said.
The area was shut down for a period on Wednesday night as several agencies controlled the scene and investigated, including the Rio Vista Police Department, the California Highway Patrol, the Solano County Sheriff’s Office, and medical teams.
What a complete waste. Just awful. Looks like maybe the driver got a dui in April as well. Terribly sad.
.
Using liberal logic, cars should be banned because they kill people.
.
Condolences to the irresponsible young adults’ families and friends.
.
The passengers in the Suburban should sue the hell out of the driver for wrongful death, injury, and for punitive damages.
.
SHOW NO MERCY.
@Exit12A – what a horrible thing to say “condolences to the irresponsible young adults’ families and friends”????? How about just condolences to the grieving families and friends… So passive aggressive – these people are hurting and you want to make this political and financial? Shame on you. As a 59 yr old successful adult when I think back about the choices I made as a young adult, I’m beyond thankful I didn’t hurt anyone or myself with my decisions and it had nothing to do with improper parenting. This is just tragic and my heart goes out to all involved.
My heart goes out to the innocent victims of this crime.
@Exit12A – In what universe do you think a 20 year old drunk kid from Rancho Cordova had two nickels to rub together?
