Kaiser Permanente Northern California’s hospitals are recognized for delivering high-quality care to stroke and pneumonia patients among other common adult conditions, according to U.S. News & World Report’s 2022-23 Best Hospitals ratings and rankings.

U.S. News & World Report’s 33rd annual study analyzes 15 specialties and 20 procedures and common adult conditions to assess hospital performance. According to the report:

  • All Kaiser Permanente Northern California hospitals are “high performing” for stroke and pneumonia care. High performers are based on the evaluations of more than 4,500 U.S. medical centers and represent the top 20% of hospitals in the nation.
  • Seven Kaiser Permanente Northern California hospitals are ranked among the top 50 hospitals in California: Oakland, Richmond, Roseville, Santa Clara, San Francisco, San Leandro and South Sacramento are all rated among the state’s best hospitals.
  • Kaiser Permanente Vallejo hospital is among the top 30 hospitals in the nation for rehabilitation out of more than 4,500 hospitals evaluated.

“Kaiser Permanente Northern California hospitals are once again being recognized among the best in the nation, which is a testament to the dedication and commitment to quality, safety and clinical excellence by our dedicated care teams,” said Carrie Owen Plietz, FACHE, president of Kaiser Permanente’s Northern California region. “During this critical time in health care, we are proud to be focused on providing the high-quality care our members and patients deserve.”

“Our physicians, nurses and staff continue to deliver exceptional clinical care that is having a positive and often life-changing impact on the lives of our members and patients,” said Richard S. Isaacs, MD, FACS, chief executive officer and executive director of The Permanente Medical Group. “We are committed to improving the health of our patients and communities through our clinical excellence and our relentless focus on delivering high-quality clinical outcomes.”

What happened to the Walnut Creek Kaiser?

I was going to ask the same!
Walnut Creek is supposedly one of the very top hospitals in Kaiser.

OMG, are you kidding me????? Are they surveying REAL patients? Where do they get their information?

Kaiser must have their Check Book out again!!!!!

The same Kaisers that amputates wrong body parts … ” Sorry Mr Jones, we amputated the wrong leg and we will need to take your other leg as well”. … I steer clear of Kaiser. This has to be BS. #Bribes

Kaiser advertises that you will “THRIVE” with them, but for my family it’s more like DEPRIVE!
They told my spouse to “accept and live with” a horrible, life-altering condition for 3.5 years. After pushing and pushing Kaiser, refusing to back down and go away, a surgeon agreed to meet. Long story short, the surgery took place and we moved on. After being victimized by the Kaiser Healthcare system, I strongly disagree with this report! If Kaiser is the best, how bad do the others have to be?!

“Kaiser Permanente – Thrive”…its about the business, and doesn’t say ANYTHING about the patients!

Glad to see this. We have had Kaiser since 1980 and it just keeps getting better and better. We could not wish for better service and better doctors. Congratulations to all Kaiser staff members!

FYI, I have been around Kaiser 60+ years and have been employed by them. Probably longer but for a fact they have steadily been going down hill for the last 10 years. Not only in Quality but definitely how they treat their staff and let them work WAY WAY to short. And I really don’t think they are overly concerned in who they hire anymore. Too many employees being hired that look at Healthcare as just a job instead of hiring people who genuinely care about people. If you don’t care you shouldn’t be in that line of work. yadda yadda yadda, I could go on and on.
Kaiser needs to stop hiding their money behind all these (supposed) non-profits to get the Kaiser name out and put it back in to making Kaiser the organization it once was. Also STOP hiding behind the “because of Covid” excuse and get EVERYONE back to the office and OPEN your damn doors again.

US News & World Report reached out to Kaiser for comment. They’re still on hold.

Ha ha ha, yes, my son in law had surgery the other day and last night was in such excruciating pain, my daughter tried to call “Advice” and was on hold for an hour and half so they finally just called an ambulance, went to ER, given MORE drugs and sent home still in pain, HELLO!!!!!!!!!!!
Kaiser is in VERY limited states so where does “US News & World Report” come in at??
Yep, just like I said earlier, Cha-Ching!!! Tell them what WE want them to hear.

Kaiser is horrible. The treatment my father and uncle received while in their care led to what I believe was both of their premature deaths. From everything I’ve experienced with the Kaiser system, the doctors do not care about their patients and prescribe dangerous medications with no regard to the long term affect they will have on the patient. The ER there is useless and neglectful. So disappointing and criminal how Kaiser Walnut Creek operates.

Sorry for your loss DB. But I feel the same way about WCR ER. I blame them for my father’s death also. They fluid overloaded my father and the nurse (who I will not name but will NOT ever forget it) never told the doctor what my father was experiencing.

I find this “report” extremely hard to believe. Kaiser is good at some things, but quite honestly, I’ve heard/witnessed so many horror stories from actual patients, that this is impossible to believe. KP denies services, till the point where patients have to threaten legal action, and then they cave. I lost a friend who was pregnant, she went to the ER one night complaining of headache, they gave her some medication and sent her home. She and the baby died in their sleep that night. I wouldn’t allow KP staff to care for my pets, much less my loved ones.

💔 I’m so sorry 😞
