Visit Concord Hosts Backpack Drive Event For Local Students On Friday July 29

This Friday, July 29, 11am to 7p, Visit Concord will host a backpack drive for Bay Area schools, including MDUSD, at Salvio Pacheco Square with NBC Bay Area, Telemundo and Visit Concord.

New backpacks can be donated or there will be backpacks and supplies you can pay for to be donated at this event.

People who donate will receive Thank You gifts from local businesses including Out the Dough, Beard Papas, La Fritanguera, Next Level Burger, Bambino’s, BJ’s Restaurant, Bambinos, Lima, Salsa Mexican Grill and Six Flags Hurricane Harbor (while they last).

There are also four business locations in Concord currently taking backpacks for donation including:

Beard Papa Concord, 2151 Salvio St.
Salsa Mexican Grill 1680 Willow Pass Rd.
Out The Dough 3375 Port Chicago Hwy.
Visit Concord, 2151 Salvio St.

In addition to backpacks, other school supplies may be donated.

They can use lottery money for new backpacks (that was a joke.)

Or perhaps the parents can supply them, like with 99.99% of families.

But Concord is “built differently.”

What a world this would be if parents actually took responsibility for their children. But they won’t since they keep getting rewarded for it.

Telemundo says it all.

How did students in the past ever survive without backpacks?

Back in my day we youngsters carried all our possibles in a polka dot pillow case tied to a stick… and it were good ’nuff.
