About 4,000 people are without power in Clayton and Concord, according to PG&E.

Most of the outages are in Clayton, south of Clayton Rd., and southwest of Marsh Creek Rd. In Concord, the outages are along Pine Hollow Rd.

Power is expected to be restored by 11 p.m.

The cause is under investigation.

That’s close to half of them. They don’t know the cause but power will be back on at 11 PM. Doesn’t that sound odd?

And it begins!

Ahhh…. everybody came home from work and plugged in their electric vehicles……

….. I was going to say: how am I going to charge my electric car to get to work tomorrow morning?

….. And to think that Governor Newsom has decreed that we all drive electric cars by 2030, and all our natural gas appliances in our homes have to be changed over to electric also! (No gas water heaters, no gas stoves, no gas furnaces)

+1

Power is back on near downtown Clayton

Ah yes, alphabet approach to maintenance ? ? ? ?

Optimal is letter “P” for preventative maintenance.
Then there is letter “C” for crisis maintenance.

Took a drive in effected area and not surprisingly saw MANY pole mounted transformers blackened with paint peeling off.

Possibly from oil filling those transformers, used for heat dissipation, overheating ? ? ?

Aside from maintenance issues, how are ya liking this green california energy thing ? ?

Tearing down peaker plants built specifically to supply power during peak demand conditions WITHOUT first building, commissioning and operating to achieve a seamless transition replacement generating capacity.

Happen to notice in this hot weather how little wind there is ? ? ?
An lets not forget solar production rapidly dropping off as sun sets and peak demand period begins.

An in case you are wondering how CA became so blessed with such large number of shallow thinkers . . . . .

“The best minds are not in government.
If any were, business would steal them away.”
–Ronald Reagan

.
CA is fast becoming like a Third World country where power outages, shanty towns (homeless encampments), and widespread crime and lawlessness are the norm.
.
All the credit goes to liberals and Democrats.

Meanwhile China is building massive numbers of coal burning electrical power plants with the carbon footprint of a Yeti, buying up all of the lithium mines to corner the market, and laughing at all the environmentally aware buying electric cars with overpriced lithium to save the planet.

Thank goodness I listened to the Greens and traded in my two gas cars for electric and converted our gas water heater, stove, furnace, and clothes dryer to electric. Oh wait….

Will PG&E ever let customers know how and why we had this power outage?

Our electricity provider is becoming more and more undependable. Now at the same time our self aggrandizing democrat so called leaders are pushing to go all electric for everything. Will the mental midgets who support the feckless, self serving corrupt democrat politicians ever realize that we are being duped?

Hey, so where do I plug in my electric vehicle when there’s a power outage??

🤷

When there’s a power outage, gas pumps don’t work either. Ride a bicycle.

Last time we had a power outage here it was like 30 houses. PGE guys drove up and down the street looking up at every pole. I guess they figured out which power pole it was. After about 20 minutes they came back with a long pole and a cherry picker. One touch with the pole and boom, power back on.

So I think sometimes it takes them a while to figure out exact cause and then maybe after it’s fixed it’s something so minor not worth announcing. Public relations move at this point.

The simple fix for not having electricity to charge your car is to get a Tesla Powerwall and a few solar panels. The Powerwall is $10,000 not including installation. In other news, Tesla stock in the last three years has gone from $50 a share to $700 per share.

Let’s fire up those stationary bicycles to “generate” electricity. That way we can get exercise, and generate get enough power to recharge devices!

Not a bad suggestion Clam…. I was thinking each home with an electric car should have a windmill connected to an electrical generator with a solar power backup to keep their cars all pepped up!
I don’t know why the electric car manufacturers don’t offer the windmill/ solar kit as an accessory.
Maybe those cars should have solar power hood, roof & trunk panels.
Talk about missing the boat….
They need me on the team!
