National Weather Service – Heat Advisory In Effect For Southern Salinas Valley

If you’re traveling….a Heat Advisory is in effect for the Southern Salinas Valley and interior San Benito county through Monday as temperatures soar into the 90s to low 100s.

The hottest days will be Sunday and Monday, according to the Weather Service.

I was fortunate enough to be stationed at Hunter Liggett military outpost in the early 1960s. Near King City which is the lower part of the Salinas Valley. One hundred and ten every day in the summer. There is no lettuce down there it is grapes.

ah, good ole Salinas, they can escape to the coast- I grew up there, though I don’t always admit it.

I was born in Salinas. Grew up a bit down the valley…right in the middle of the high heat map.
