Did you know? Tobacco kills up to half of its users and 4.5 trillion cigarette butts pollute the Earth each year.

According to the CDC, cigarette smoking causes about one of every five deaths in the United States each year.

Cigarette smoking is estimated to cause the following:

Exposure to secondhand smoke causes an estimated 41,000 deaths each year among adults in the United States:

  • Secondhand smoke causes 7,333 annual deaths from lung cancer.
  • Secondhand smoke causes 33,951 annual deaths from heart disease.

Yet cigarettes are still legal….

Funny how the government works.

So where is the uproar about pot smoke. It also contains many carcinogenic combustion products.

Not so funny how the government works…

Would you rather live with a smoker or a drunk?

Ricardoh- I have too much self-respect to live with either of the mentioned miscreants.

Far more than gunshot violence…

Where’s the outrage???????

Let the banter begin….

I stopped smoking about thirty years ago when my 1st daughter was born.
I now have a 1 month old granddaughter and I’m very much alive!

I also stopped over 30 years ago and now waiting for my 5th great grandchild. Congrats on your quit and your new granddaughter.

.
Why should the public trust any CDC statistics since Covid-19 statistics are a massive lie?
.

The CDC has lost all credibility…..I do not believe anything they say anymore.

we should shut down the whole country and make sure all that remain open are essential until these death rates go down……

Some people can handle it and some can’t. Look at all the lives destroyed by alcohol. Drunk and drugged parents do more damage to families than a smoker would. My father smoked in the house every night and none of us complained about it. His smoking never caused a fight in the household. He got up early every morning and was off to work before anyone else in the house got up.He lived to be 97. Only quit smoking the last six months of his life. My mother who lived with his second hand smoke lived to be 98. The last twenty years of his life he smoked outside. Are you ready to give up your Martini?

My dad smoked Italian cigars for over 75 years (outside and inside).
My mom did not smoke. He lived to 93 and she lived to 101. !!!
I started smoking cigarettes at 13 but quit at 33. … That was over 40 years ago! Alcohol is WAAAY worse for your health than most other vices and certainly has done WAAAY more damage to society than smoking. … Same damage with Weed and other DRUGS!

redrazor When I was a teenager I was helping my brother-in-law build a house. He gave me a toscano (small Italian cigarette or cigar) that had been sitting in his glove compartment for who knows how long because he never smoked. I smoked part of that thing and was sick for hours. I laid down in the crate the dishwasher came in.

The obvious conclusion is that more politicians should smoke!

BAN TOBACCO!!!

Oh, that’s right…..Tyrants only prefer to ban those things which are preventing their Full Blown Tyranny.

BAN BOOZE!!!

Lol.

Wow, that’s way worse than the monkeypox.
Joe says we should be concerned about the monkeypox.

Tobacco companies spend millions of dollars lobbying against reform. Republicans voted pro-tobacco 73% of the time and Democrats voted pro-tobacco only 23% of the time Sound familiar ?

@MonumentMan….Those numbers are based on what? Maybe you should go to work at the CDC, in their “estimating department”, they do so well at Covid/smoking statistics.

THe numbers are from 2004 but things haven’t changed. PubMed article Where there’s smoke there’s money: tobacco industry campaign contributions and U.S. Congressional voting

Just like Newsome and the teachers union.

Funny how the government shut the country down for COVID but nothing happens to these cigarette companies.

Smoking is a choice, it isn’t contagious.
When dumb people make bad decisions bad things happen…

Dumb people decide to smoke… get cancer.
Dumb people decide to drink and drive… get arrested.
Dumb people decide to vote…. get Joe Biden.

Coronavirus killed 415,000 in 2021, heart disease killed 693,000 people and cancer was responsible for 604,000 deaths, according to CDC report
usnews https://tinyurl.com/s623sae2

Plus air pollution kills more than 8 million, and starvation kills 9 million every year. A child dies from starvation EVERY 10 SECONDS.

Again, where is the outrage? Where are the mandates and shut downs? The last two years plus have shown those things only happen when there is power to be grabbed.

Well, we all know those covid numbers are completely false.

I’ll light up a camel to celebrate

@fbr….Hope you didn’t have to walk a mile to get that Camel.

Remember the “Just use the camel” joke?
The one where the Captain says “I don’t know why you did that son…
the other soldiers just use her to ride into town and go to the brothel”

Another big congrats Roz…you did good girl!!!

How many of you who want the government to shut down the tobacco industry, smoke a little weed or sniff a little coke? If politicians were not invested in Marijuana there wouldn’t be any medical marijuana stores. Weed will rot your brain.

@Ricardoh….. Pretty sure alcohol will rot your brain too, among other things.

nytemuvr Lookup Delirium tremens. In high school a friend’s father had them more that once and had to be hospitalized. Not too many deadly accidents from smoking while driving.

+1000 to Ricardoh

My dad smoked Italian cigars for over 75 years (outside and inside).
My mom did not smoke. He lived to 93 and she lived to 101. !!!

I never smoked in high school, but we had this one guy who was so anxious to impress the Smokin’ in the Boy’s Room club, he rolled his own Bull Durham, took a deep drag, passed out, and wet himself. The club was suitably impressed.

Back on USS Ustafish, we had a Sonarman who had the ability to puke on anyone who blew smoke at him.

OH SNAP! I thought only covid caused deaths! Who would ever know that anything else but covid can cause deaths. Don’t let the satanic cdc, who, howdydoodie fauchi see this article it will be censored immediately!
