The U.S. Drought Monitor has introduced just announced a “D4-Exceptional Drought” across portions of the Central Valley and across the southern half of San Benito County, according to the National Weather Service.
The drought emergency across all 58 California counties was declared in October of 2021.
The Bay Area is in the D2 – D3 range, which is Severe to Extreme drought conditions.

… then why are the so called “leaders” approving over 100,000 new housing starts? All the wineries and almond / walnut groves are getting all the water they need. They are removing dams where we used to store water for the summer, they are approving surfing parks in the desert! They are planting tens of thousands of new acres of almond trees right now! …… They wouldn’t approve all of that unless there was plenty of water – right?!
Everyone knows this state is prone to drought.
Why hasn’t the government taken steps to save more water?
Because the government wants to control the people.
This state needs representatives of the people.

I will start conserving awater in earnest when ALL hotels and motels are required to install flow restrictors and low water use fixtures.
I recently stayed at hotels in SoCal a few times and the tub’s faucet and sink faucets flowed gobs and gobs of water per minute.

Actually Gavin was in favor of the desal plant twenty years in the planning at Huntington Beach but the coastal commission stopped it just a couple of weeks ago. How hard he fought for it I don’t know.
