Today’s question:

Would you go on a manned mission to Mars if they built a colony, even if you could never come back?

Talk about it….

No, but I would encourage democrats to go.

+1,000,000,000,000,000

I think many democrats are already living there!
We have space cadets like Adam Schiff, Mark de Saulnier, Eric Swallwell.
With more democrats even further out there!

Why stop at democrats, wouldn’t you also want anyone you don’t agree with to go?

We are avoiding the elephant in the room.

That’s a fact.

No. I have no interest in going to Mars.

I suspect the people who would do this are the same ones who would camp out for a week at the Apple Store to make sure they’re among the first to have the newest i-whatever.

Earth is the only place I want to be.

No….who would cook dinner for my Hubby….LOL!

No, but then I’m getting too old for such adventures. Maybe a tourist jaunt but I’d probably be 103 by then. I do think as much as 30% of the populace might say yes just as many of our ancestors risked their future coming to this continent.

You’d have fewer birthdays on Mars. A year is 687 days, so that would make you a much younger Captain.

No. But i could make an impressive list of people i would like to send there.

He-He!,….that was funny.

+1 …+2… +3 🙂

I am old enough that I already have one foot in the grave so I am up for any new adventure. Sign me up for Mars exploration!

Same here. Doubt if they would take me though.

Nope

Show of hands who remember the Twilight episode entitled: KANAMITS? It’s a cookbook!

🖐️

👍👍👍

I remember!

….”to Serve Man”

Absolutely! if everyone is Vaccinated and boosted.

I will never under any circumstances voluntarily leave my Earth Mother.

Agree with you, Silva

Haven’t you heard? “Mars needs Women!”

Naw, I don’t think so, Mars doesn’t have any beaches.

It has always been my dream to be an astronaut, ever since I watched Apollo launches as a kid. I would have volunteered to fly in the space shuttle the day after Challenger blew up. I would have also volunteered to fly in a shuttle after Columbia disintegrated on re-entry. Today, I would love to fly to Mars.

The wrench in The Mayor’s question is “never coming back”. I now have a wife and kids. So much to look forward to with their lives, especially the kids. So no, I would not go to Mars if I could never see the family again.

Will there be an Olive Garden?

Not unless there was no other option. Or gas was half as expensive.

Only if The Federation were to support and mange it.

Enter… William Golding…

If I was younger I would go as long as I could come back. I worked on the program (as a systems engineer) to go there for a few years.

It’s a cookbook!

Well, in the early 90’s, I made it my mission to walk to the Mars factory, and I am a man (and a biologist), so I did a manned mission to Mars….

Now, as for the planet, no. The space suits look too confining, the seats not all together comfortable, and I imagine the stress of space travel would probably do me in.

I would just get a divorce. Then leave town and maybe go to Mexico. I would change my name. Then if she and her lawyer find me, I’d consider going to Mars.
