The average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gas in California is now $6.06, which is $1.47 more than the National average, according to AAA.
Contra Costa County’s average price is a whopping $6.14 a gallon.
In Mono County (near Yosemite), the average price is $6.94 a gallon.
The cheapest gas in the United States can be found in Oklahoma, at $4.04 a gallon.
I just filled up at Costco in Parker Colorado at $ 3.82 per gallon. I sure don t regret moving out of California 3 years ago
Do you ever get the feeling that nobody in Washington DC or Sacramento really give a dam what we’re paying for gas.
They don’t. There gas tanks are filled with our tax dollars. They will never fill what we are dealing with
Given that the Republicans blocked a bill to stop oil companies from engaging in price gouging I’d say they are very much interested in what we pay at the pump.
Chuq. Get real this whole mess directly rests on the democrats that control this state for the last 30 or 40 years, and the moron in the Oval Office that killed our energy independence we had within the first few months of his Presidency with his executive orders. We were a net exporter before he took office
Chuq, Democrats have majority vote. What’s your next excuse?
Oh are you guys conveniently forgetting a few things?
This isn’t a state gas crisis, I hear tell it’s a national one.
And Tired let me give you some numbers. The House vote was 217-207: no Republican supported the bill, suggesting it’s likely headed for failure in the Senate.
That is 207 Republicans who are in favor of gas price gouging.
The average profit the oil companies make is 5 to 7 cents a gallon. Look it up. The democrats always blame somebody else for their failed policies. I can’t believe how many democrats are so easily led by lies and corruption.
The 5-7 cents profit is what the gas station makes, not the oil companies. The big oil companies are making billions in profit. Look it up.
California refineries are facing a very unfriendly business climate in this state and since they are the only source of our special blend we are paying for it
That one of the reasons.
Oil companies are doing what ever it takes to please Wall Street. Keep expenses low by not pumping expensive wells, keeping supply down and prices high. The result is record profits.
An oil developer will always drill their best wells first. Infrastcture cost is a factor (Not LGBTQ infrastructure, I mean real infrastructure: the time and cost of the build to get the product metered and sold). As such, the more expensive a barrel of oil, the more likely they will invest in the “expensive projects”.
Keep in mind, many of the offshore projects in the US will produce for the next 20 plus years yet take three years to develop. Believe me, they want those projects on-line ASAP, and they certainly want to enjoy the tax deductions of their intangible drilling cost, depletion, depreciation, and dry hole costs NOW. They have no incentive to drag their feet. Remember, they are general partners in their projects, not limited partners.
The Biden administration and it’s spokespersons have zero
understanding of the oil and natural gas industry.
Let’s go Brandon.
So very original
…. 7, 7 , 7 do I hear 7? 8,8, ..do I hear 9? ….meanwhile Newsom is sitting with the oil companies and the CPUC being waaaay to quiet not doing a dxxx thing…. if you voted against the recall – don’t blame me
Joe did that!
.
Bidenflation is in effect!
.
Biden’s recession is coming!
.
Democrat-led stagflation will be another result.
.
BE PREPARED!!!
As a now former resident of Kleptofornica I can tell you three things.
Oil, gas/diesel and natural gas are all more expensive than when Trump was President. Joe did that!
Energy (gas, electric and fuel) are more expensive in California than in most states, even when we don’t have a refinery. Gavin did that!
People voted for Biden and Gavin. Those people are ultimately responsible for the mess we are in, although they will deny reality until their dying day, or justify higher prices.
Biden dos not control the global market. Try reading an in-depth article that would explain it to you. Don’t go to the opinion networks because they don’t focus on facts.
Biden has thrown every available wrench into the US energy market. If his minions find another wrench, he’ll throw that in too.
He really likes the oil from Venezuela however. His climate change agenda is disingenuous at best.
Filled my Civic today. Averaged 25.6 miles per gallon this tank. Mostly city driving. Paid $4.179 at a local supplier. Not naming it, so all the gas guzzling fools don’t swamp the location. Just wanted you to know you can beat the oil industry money grab by driving small and knowing some tricks.
@Phil. When Biden took office, he immediately:
. canceled the Keystone Pipeline,
. eliminated supports for fossil fuels
. added new oil/gas, regulations
He also halted drilling on federal lands for 60 days — which shut down 25% of U.S. oil production. Biden blames the Russians for the gas shortages, because he thinks the public is stupid.
And his top officials march in lockstep.

“I did that.” Sleepy Joe
Was 7.89 9/10 for Super in Portola Valley/Los Altos on Friday.
Ya gots to love those Calif. Gas Tax which is why gas prices are higher than most other states.
… one of Newsom’s forgotten campaign promises was that he was going to get under the gouging by big oil and bring parity to the rest of the country – at least the Bay Area – did he? noooooooo did he stop the high speed rail to no where like he promised? nooooooo … if you voted against his recall – don’t complain here!
Brandon, where the hell are you and please get the losers out of office this round of elections. I want our country to be independent again, especially California, who is stuck with loser Newsom.
talk is cheap
California elections are rigged just like our last Presidential election. We are in big trouble.

All part of biden’s LONG term plan, ONLY thing he cares about is how history remembers him.
‘Biden praises high gas prices as part of ‘incredible transition’ ‘
” Out of touch as ever, President Biden celebrated record-high gas prices Monday, gushing that the pump pain was part of “an incredible transition” of the US economy away from fossil fuels.
“[When] it comes to the gas prices, we’re going through an incredible transition that is taking place that, God willing, when it’s over, we’ll be stronger and the world will be stronger and less reliant on fossil fuels when this is over,” Biden said during a press conference in Japan ”
