Firefighters are responding to a vegetation fire on the old Naval Weapons Station property near hwy.4 and Willow Pass Rd. in Concord.
The blaze is said to be about 5 acres and growing.
Use caution if you’re in the area.
UPDATE: Fire is out. 20 acres in size. Thanks to ConFire for the photo.
More homeless people playing with matches ?
Is it the same guy they caught last week?
.. again ….another drugged out homeless wacko … I’ll repeat again and again … how many times are we willing to tolerate jeopardy to lives and homes and continue to pay hundreds of thousands of $$ for this kind of cxxx ?
Nice to have Claycord to find out what the smoke was about.
Another homeless skid?
.
On the bright side, it won’t burn again this year.
.
Thanks. Unfortunately I want to get something that’s only in stock in Antioch too lazy too wait for shipping. Heading that way soon
Thank You ConFire for putting the fire out.
Question for you loooong time Claycordians (40+ years): These fires, such as those along 4/160, etc., even further east, are these a newer phenomena, or were these common occurrences, just not reported as fervently, or were they actually a rarity?
Lots more.
We never had so many bums living outdoors & starting fires way back when.
This is new. There has never been this many fires. And back in the day people burned their garbage and leaves. As I posted before I have had 6 fires near my home since the year 2020.
UPDATE: The cause of the fire was determined. This particular fire was not cause by a homeless person. It was caused by landscaping equipment that created a spark. Because of the high winds it spread rapidly. The nonprofit service dog organizations Dogs4Diabetics and First Response K-9’s had to evacuate all the service dogs in training. Other adjacent businesses were also evacuated, all with about five minutes notice. Thanks to CalFire and ConFire for the rapid response with equipment. There was no significant property damage or injuries reported.
What? Equipment started the fire? What company or person?
