Antioch Mayor Lamar Thorpe was charged with two misdemeanor counts of Driving Under the Influence (DUI) of alcohol, according to the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office.

The Office of the District Attorney of Contra Costa County received a referral from the California Highway Patrol on March 23, 2022, on two violations of California Vehicle Code 23152 (a) and 23152 (b) that occurred on March 19, 2022, in Pleasant Hill.

After an evaluation, a charging decision was made on the following counts:

Count 1 – Driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage VC 23152 (a)

….Becton dismiss charges? … bets?

Disgraceful. Clearly he makes bad decisions.
.
Lamar Thorpe should RESIGN.

The Mayor of Antioch must be a Republicans. Also how long did the Mayor spend in Jail.

Throw the book at him.

Just in case anyone missed it, a press release from the Mary Knox campaign came out yesterday making note of the delayed prosecution and the private meeting Mayor Thorpe had with DA Becton-Soros days after the incident.

Charges filed today. More shady politics from our current dirty DA.

Perhaps he met with his attorney? Oh wait, she’s the prosecutor!

She’s only filing because of voting season. After June 8th it’ll get dropped in the interest of justice. Which will be after his notice to appear and the multiple continuances he will get effectively making it after June 8th.

Driving drunk is not a mistake. It points to bad character and a history of poor decision-making. Never trust someone who drives drunk. They have already proven to be a bad person who doesn’t care about others.

Not anywhere even close to a mistake.

Wondering where the recall effort is standing on this guy??? Too lazy to look it up…

Becton needed to do this for her re-election…. My guess is once she is sadly re-elected, the charges will be suddenly dropped….

Not a bettering person, but any takers????

If he can just prove the cops only stopped him because he’s black… anybody try that yet?

Many years ago I drive under the influence of alcohol. Yes, very poor decision on my part. I realized the consequences and never did it again. The Mayor made a mistake so move on. Diana is trying to sound tough because she is in a close political campaign. She’ll end settling with a Reckless Operation.

Simply saying “Mistake” down plays the seriousness.

“…very poor decision…” (your words) is more accurate….

A publicly elected official; adds to the concern of credibility for a very poor decision….

Sorry, I can’t agree with you, but…

I’ll allow you the last word.

I just kills me how people will make a conscious decision to do something they KNOW IS WRONG, and then call it a “mistake”.
Face it…. it isn’t a mistake if you know it’s wrong and do it anyway, you just thought you could get away with it.

If he causes an accident or, worse yet, kills somebody, would you still consider it an accident?

Prepare for a Huge Gas lighting regarding this. We’ll be told that this is a part of “Their Cultire”.
Look at how the Jussie Smollet thing dropped out of the news as he spent less than One week of his 6 month sentence in jail. But, hey…….if you people continue to choose these “leaders” = you deserve what you get.

No one who has a family member killed by a drunk driver thinks this should be a misdemeanor or a mistake that is dismissed.

This occurred on March 19th.
CHP submitted the charges on March 23rd.
Two months for Becton’s office to act?
I think with a staff of 225 this would have been handled much sooner.
Mary Knox for DA!
