One of the Caldecott Tunnel’s bores will be closed Monday evening through early Tuesday morning for maintenance work, according to a Caltrans spokesperson.
Caltrans will close the westbound No. 4 bore of the state Highway 24 Caldecott Tunnel from 10 p.m. Monday until 4:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Caltrans spokesperson Marcus Wagner said the other bores in each direction will be open during the westbound No. 4 bore’s closure.
Changeable electronic message signs will be in place to assist motorists traveling in the area. Motorists are advised to expect delays and allow for extra travel time.
Reminds me of my old commute. Except there were only 3 bores and then for awhile just 2 when they had the fire. Fun times.
@Fred I’ve got stories too.
I took Greyhound (before Bart) and came out like being shot from a cannon, especially when a driver nick named crazy was driving.
It’s funny to me that drivers don’t realize they are going downhill pretty much upon entering the westbound bores because there is no visual horizon reference.
By the exit of the bores, they’re
really speeding, tailgating, and braking hard.
Get a clue people!
…Let off the gas pedal when ya enter the bore because there is a physical phenomenon called “gravity”.
Anything but fixing the gigantic bump in Bore 3.
