California, Oregon, Nevada, Washington and Hawaii are the only states in the United States with average gas prices over $4 a gallon.
California is $4.86, Nevada and Oregon are $4.06, Washington is $4.08, and Hawaii is $4.60, according to AAA.
The cheapest gas in the nation is in Texas, where the average price is $3.26 a gallon.
A little closer to home – Contra Costa County’s average price is $4.89 a gallon. The most expensive gas in California is in Mono County, at $5.65 a gallon, and the cheapest is in Modoc County, where a gallon will cost you around $4.45.
Keep voting Democrat for more expensive gasoline.
If the citizens of this country don’t vote the Democratic Party out of office it will only get worse. What is it going to take to wake people up?President Biden and the rest of his circus have to go.
“If the citizens of this country don’t” stop talking in unsupported conclusions without the ability to intelligently formulate a factual position, things “will only get worse”..
I pay over 5 a gallon at 76
Oil and gas prices are established by the global market, as for the rise in price, well let’s get after that mean old world!!
Joe did that !
Another thing Newsom can be proud of … we are nation leading in gas prices.
He must be so proud!
At what price point does horse and buggy becomes an economically viable alternative and makes a comeback?
It won’t, they will find a way to put a carbon tax on the methane produced by the horses. A bunch of horses’ behinds taxing horses’ behinds. The counties would have to change the laws involving keeping livestock (where they would actually permit-elitist allowing- the simple man to keep a beast), and they would not be able to bring themselves to do that. For some reason, the venom towards these people is quite present in me today.
The reasons CA has higher gasoline prices than the rest of the US:
1. A lack of west coast refineries which are unable to fulfill local demand due to left wing environmental regulations. Crude oil transported by pipelines basically has to pay a “toll” per barrel.
2. Cap and Trade of carbon emission credits. The cost of these market-based credits is passed on to motorists.
3. State-required carbon offset fee… about 19.1 cents per gallon.
4. State excise tax of 51.1 cents per gallon.
5. Federal excise tax of 18 cents per gallon. This is nationwide.
6. Local sales tax of about 10 cents per gallon.
7. CA’s “special” blends of gasoline for summer and winter.
Add it all up and CA motorists pay about $1.00 more per gallon in taxes and fees than normal America.
It’s not far fetched to argue these gas taxes are RACIST. People of color (from the Central Valley) have longer commutes, and some use a lot of fuel for small motors. In addition to being RACIST, the high gas taxes are INFLATIONARY. Your amazon boxes (and millions of other packages along with all merchandise) don’t deliver themselves, so prices will rise to cover the fuel.
Therefore, it’s factual to tell the local politicians they are RACIST and are in favor of INFLATION which harms women and children more than anybody else when they REFUSE to lower gas taxes.

It’s a great start to return money to the PEOPLE.
Can’t sell electric vehicles when gas is cheap. Guess politicians don’t care how much pain and financial hardship they cause while advancing their green agenda. DEMs realizing high gas prices will cost them votes have begun frantically approving new oil leases, hoping to drive down prices before November mid term elections.
Strange when political survival, reelection, is at stake they can abandon their agenda.
‘California’s $5-7 per Gallon Gas and Energy Costs Will Get More Expensive’
“What the country needs isn’t ‘alternative’ energy, or new austerity measures; It’s a government that promotes energy development”
“The first week in December 2018, the United States exported more oil than we imported, for the first time in nearly 70 years. This is known as energy independence. And it happened not because of the previous 50 years of dubious federal “energy programs” heavily regulating oil and gas, while promoting alternative energy, but despite them.” …
In a speech to the Energy Department months after taking office, he (Trump) said that for decades leaders peddled the myth of energy scarcity. Most of it is self-imposed, he said. What the country needs, he said, isn’t “alternative” energy, or new austerity measures. It’s a government that “promotes energy development.”

How’s that corn derived ethanol working out for us? Our special state blend adds cost to our gas and even the news finally said ethanol is worse for the environment.
But hey, at least we’re #1!
The gobal market sets the price, politicians have little influence.
U.S. Oil Discovery – Largest Reserve in the World Stansberry Report Online – 4/20/2006. Hidden 1,000 feet beneath the surface of the Rocky Mountains lies the Largest untapped oil reserve in the world. It is more than 2 TRILLION barrels. On August 8, 2005 President Bush Mandated its extraction. In many recent years of high oil prices none has been extracted. With this mother lode of oil why are we still fighting over off-shore Drilling?
They reported this stunning news: We have more oil inside our borders, than all the other proven reserves on Earth.
Here are the official estimates:
8 times as much oil as Saudi Arabia
18 times as much oil as Iraq
21 times as much oil as Kuwait
22 times as much oil as Iran
500 times as much oil as Yemen
And it’s all right here in the Western United States !!!!!!
…but don’t mention this to Joe. He’s been ordered to help fund Putin’s escapades into Ukraine. At a small profit for him and his crime family, of course. They just want to wet their beaks, after all they’re not communist!
It’s so when everyone else runs out we are then in charge again and can make money and and and what was I saying.
Whew, good thing the senile pedo-perv destroyed our oil/gas industry that had us energy independent net exporter, AND we are still importing OVER 500,000 BARRELS OF OIL PER DAY from RUSSIA, plus hundreds of thousands from the ME.
How about looking at facts
According to the eia.gov website it may be worth noting that it is true that the US in 2020 was a net petroleum exporter in 2020. However “petroleum” includes crude oil, hydrocarbon gas liquids, refined petroleum products such as gasoline and diesel fuel, and biofuels (including ethanol and biodiesel).
If we look at crude oil only in 2020 the US imported about 5.88 million barrels per day and at the same time during 2020 exported about about 3.21million barrels per day. This says that looking at crude oil only in 2020 the US was a net importer.
Looking only at Russia in 2020 the US imported about 550,000 barrels a day and did not export any petroleum to Russia.
https://tinyurl.com/2p8whdst
Overall the US reached a record high crude oil production of about 12.21 million barrels per day in 2019. Mostly due to COVID the production declined to about 11.28 million barrels per day in 2020 and to about 11.24 million barrels per day in 2021. The latest forecast for 2022 is about 12 million barrels per day and for 2023 it is forecasted that the US production will reach a new record with about 12.6 million barrels per day.
I know that doesn’t sound as juicy as Pete’s talking point but ……
Wow Mr. Helper, thanks for confirming what I said: NET EXPORTER. Per EIA, net EXPORTER in 2020 and 2021, but yet in 2022 as full impact of Joementia’s (you know, creepy perv who sniffs/fondles kids and took “inappropriate” showers with his daughter, per HER handwritten journal entry) decimation of our oil/gas industry, we’re on pace to be net IMPORTER.
And bonus, Sniffy built his own catch-22 trap, placates his leftist kook base by pushing whole hog into green hysteria particularly EV’s, yet won’t allow for us to mine nearly enough of our abundant rare earth resources because he or more accurately the dementia patient wranglers who are his handlers are terrified of those same unhinged loons who hate mining.
It’s obviously impossible to have a discussion with a person who believes that importing 5.88 million barrels per day and exporting 3.21 million barrels per day of crude oil makes you a net exporter. Using all caps doesn’t make it any more convincing.
Of course you are also not able to present a single shred of evidence in support of your claim that the current administration “destroyed our oil/gas industry” despite the forecast that crude oil production will reach a new all time record in 2023.
The rest of your dribble, I’m not a therapist but I think your statements are a reflection of some deep personal problems and I’m sorry for you,
And still the roads are crap.
Joey Baby is not backing down. He bragged about releasing a three day supply from the worlds oil reserve. He more than anyone allowed the Russians to kill Ukrainians.
Facts are better than unsupported rants.
That Chevron is Fremont is now $5.51 for the expensive stuff.
*EDIT*…….There’s a Shell station down the street from that station that had the expensive stuff at $5.69 a gallon this morning.
Regular 87 octane is $3.34/gal as of last Friday here in our Free State. If we had our own refinery like Texas, it would be even cheaper. Kroger discount dropped the price down to $2.84. So, the price is up from the sub-$2 range, but better than California. Some of the price difference is due to taxes (our gas tax actually goes to our roads) and the rest to environment groups intentionally doing things to make it less affordable.
Here’s an idea, buy some stock in the oil and gas companies – get dividends and capital appreciation…
.
I’ve sayingbthat for over 20 years because…. I AM NOT A VICTIM.
.
I profit as a shareholder of Halliburton, Occidental, and Exxon-Mobil.
Agreed. I will add that sometimes owning the asset directly can be advantageous also. Drilling cost, Depletion, Depreciation, and Infrastructure (Real infrastructure, not sex change infrastructure!) can be quite helpful. When Biden starts screwing around with tax rates these tools will be even more beneficial from a tax management perspective.
Least expensive gas is not $3.26, in Texas. We pay $3.09.
.
Energy independence equals national security.
Just ask Germany who shut down their nuclear plants because little angry Greta Thunberg scolded them to do so.
Now Germany and many other EU members are dependent on Putin’s Russia for energy to keep their lights on.
The US should have an “all of the above” energy policy.. wind, solar, natural gas, fracking, shale, drilling, nuclear. ALL OF IT!
I dive about 750 miles on 12 gallons per month. I never remember the gas price. I’m much more concerned that my bridge toll funds the roads of places link Santa Clara county where they don’t cross toll bridges.
Keep voting for Democrats, so the country can hit rock-bottom that much quicker. Then again, I’m pretty sure, I’ll be saying the same about the Republicans in ten years. I hate voter frustration!
