Pleasant Hill Police today released images of the vehicle they say is responsible for smashing both entrances to the Clayton Safeway on Saturday and Tuesday.

Police say the same vehicle is also responsible for smashing into five garage doors at homes in Pleasant Hill’s Gregory Gardens neighborhood on Wednesday night.

Police say they do not know the motive of the driver.

The vehicle is believed to be a gray/silver VW Jetta with temporary or dealer plates. It was previously reported to be a silver Pontiac, but that description was updated after the investigation.

Definitely not a Pontiac.

There goes a lot of good jokes.

The police will nab these misguided people soon enough.

What the DA may do is anyone’s guess.

The DA is yet another failure in and of government.

Why are security cameras so bad? Pictures of the US Civil War are clearer than that.

S February 24, 2022 - 6:45 PM - 6:45 PM

they put in the cameras for lower insurance premiums. They went with the lowest bidder, because the insurance company didn’t give spec’s.

Typical Safeway managerial decision.

Probably looking for the drive-through window at Safeway! A mind is a terrible thing to waste.

Since the thing seems to be silvery and has lights I’d say it’s an extraterrestrial UFO. They were stopping by for Mars bars plus a bag of Skittles.

PESFG February 24, 2022 - 7:23 PM - 7:23 PM

It was stated twice that it was a Pontiac and it wasn’t, so now I am beginning to think it could be more than one driver with the same make and model of car or similar.

This seems like a distraction to keep the police busy so buddies can do other crimes…

Silva February 24, 2022 - 9:50 PM - 9:50 PM

I don’t know how reliable this source is, but I according to my source it was because an employee stopped the driver from getting away with a shopping cart loaded with groceries for free. The guy made a scandalous scene and yelled about coming back to get ’em. Apparently he’s still all het up about it. When it happened again today someone in the store was heard saying “😑🙄Not again!!🙄😑”. The party I heard this from didn’t know at the time it also happened the other day.

Who wants to bet he’s doing that with his girlfriend’s car?

Shoot out his tires. This has gotten out of control. Stop allowing no prosecutions and re fund all law enforcement.

@Silva, I also heard the same story as you.

George February 25, 2022 - 2:53 PM - 2:53 PM

Safeway Management doesn’t try too hard to help police make these arrest. If only Safeway had installed better cameras then they might be able to make out the car and get a license plate, etc.

I hope he paid for the $9 Loss Damage Waiver when he rented it…

Dr Jellyfinger February 25, 2022 - 3:45 PM - 3:45 PM

A driver could probably pull up onto the sidewalk by Country Waffles & drive down to Safeway to nail those doors again….. I’m not suggesting it… just saying there’s probably more than enough room just to race down that walkway while flipping everyone off and laughing like a psycho… crash the doors again (maybe take out some shopping carts too) & steer back onto the street then split!

I sure hope that doesn’t happen!

Dr. Jellyfinger February 25, 2022 - 4:56 PM - 4:56 PM

(to avoid the new barriers that is)
