Well, our autos are old…. 92′ Jeep & 03′ Truck, so cost is low, about $1000 a year for both with both of us driving them.
Been with State Farm for about 45 years and have the auto, house and umbrella bundle.

Car insurance renewal
I renewed my car insurance on the phone yesterday.

I was just about to hang up when the lady on the phone asked- “Do you have any pets?”

I replied ” Yes I have a dog”

She said “Would you like to insure him to?

.
Allstate for the four weekly drivers and Hagerty for three exotics (Lamborghini, Ferrari, and an Aston-Martin).
.
About $3800 per year.

$300 for liability; Bristol West, a Farmers insurance company

Anon January 31, 2022 - 1:12 PM - 1:12 PM

Metromile, approx $600 / year for two vehicles.

This worked best for me since I barely put 4,000 miles per year total due to having company vehicle.

Kauai Mike January 31, 2022 - 1:15 PM - 1:15 PM

Too much.
All insurance is theft.

Ricardoh January 31, 2022 - 2:52 PM - 2:52 PM

Until you need it Mike. I have had State Farm for 66 years. Started out on assigned risk because neither of my parents drove a car so I had no insurance company that would take me. Do they even have assigned risk anymore. It is or was a state thing. You applied and the state dealt it out to an insurance company that had to take you. It cost as much as my car.

….. on the do not trust list – #1 lawyers #2 insurance companies

I pay about $980 a year for my seven-year-old Lincoln with Clear Cover Insurance. I have a perfect driving record and no insurance claims ever. Drive less than 10,000 miles a year. Way less.
Funny I checked out that Metro Mile Insurance company that says they charge you by the mile after a base $29 fee each month.
Well for my car they wanted $89 a month plus their per mile fee. If I even drove it once a week, they would cost a more than my insurance company now. Plus they want to plug this thing into my dash the reports to them how much I drive. Thus if you took a long trip, even just down the coast of California you’d pay a big bundle.
I’ve also been very happy in the past with Safeco and Mercury. AAA is also not so cheap anymore.

Badge1104 January 31, 2022 - 1:35 PM - 1:35 PM

PS: I think if AAA did not spend tens of millions $ on continual advertisements, they could have more competitive rates.
I was with them a long time before they started getting too expensive.

Rolaids January 31, 2022 - 5:25 PM - 5:25 PM

Thanks for reminding me. It’s been almost 40 years, and i have to ask myself , “why?” Not getting any cheaper. I recently bought my proof of insurance in to AutoZone to buy a part, to save all the questions, which powertrain? Does it have seat warmers? Figured, here, just look up the VIN. They couldn’t find it in their system. I tried my smartphone, no good. Finally i went and looked at the stamped ID inside the doorjam. Some knucklehead at AAA managed to fat finger a wrong digit on my VIN. THEIR computer apparently didn’t protest, but all they other VIN look up softwares correctly flagged it as a bad VIN. What the heck? Am I pessimistic to think they would deny a claim in a heartbeat based on that technicality?

GEIGO
$840 for my car and about $1000 for hubby. I sometimes wonder why we have it since most of the idiots you see causing problems on the roads are uninsured.

George January 31, 2022 - 2:41 PM - 2:41 PM

Geico $650 /year (full coverage Ford F-150 with $500 ded)

Hagerty Ins. $500 /year (for my older classic car that Geico would not cover)

Sandy G January 31, 2022 - 3:22 PM - 3:22 PM

$98 a month for my 2016 Prius with AAA

Cowellian January 31, 2022 - 3:57 PM - 3:57 PM

I’d love to run over Flo and the gekko, but State Farm would probably raise my rates.

Gititogether January 31, 2022 - 5:43 PM - 5:43 PM

Ah…good question.

Had AAA off & on since I was a pup. They raised both home & auto a couple of years ago to cover their fire losses. Understandable to some degree….but 50% increases on a looonnnnggg time customer with no accidents, tickets, claims or commuting & garage housed? Dropped em like a wet bat.

Currently paying $825/yr for a sporty-ish 2017 vehicle which is about half what AAA wanted.

Glen January 31, 2022 - 7:03 PM - 7:03 PM
