Rep. Jerry McNerney, D-Stockton, announced Tuesday that he will not seek re-election to his congressional seat.

McNerney’s announcement means the seat will be sought by Rep. Josh Harder, D-Turlock, who currently represents California’s 10th Congressional District, Tom Patti, a Republican who currently serves on the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors, and Harpreet Chima, a Democrat and University of California, Davis alumnus.

McNerney began representing California’s 9th District after being elected to the seat in 2012. He previously held the 11th District seat prior to redistricting for the 2010 U.S. Census.

The 9th District includes parts of San Joaquin, Contra Costa and Sacramento counties.

In San Joaquin County, McNerney assisted in securing investments in infrastructure, childcare, education, and other programs needed throughout the county.

“I am very proud of the many accomplishments that my staff and I have achieved in Congress, including the creation of a major veteran’s health center facility in San Joaquin County, providing outstanding help for constituents with federal agencies and securing major investments in infrastructure and public safety, broadband, education, childcare, and health care access,” McNerney said.

The primary election will take place on June 7.

Boy, I can’t wait to vote for one of those men.

Democrats are dropping like flys. I wonder why. 😎

Talk about rats leaving a sinking ship! At last count, that makes 50 or so Democrats who have already announced their plans not to seek re-election in the upcoming mid-term elections. This could be really interesting.

Rats leaving a sinking ship.

He doesn’t want to spend money to campaign since he would lose anyway. Good riddance!!

A Democrat to be replaced by a Democrat. No change to anything.

Let’s see one big rat jump ship Biden.Followed by Pelosi and Harris.Make America great again.

Wants to spend that leftover contribution money on dinners and booze.

I suggest everyone vote down ballot Republican in this State until things change (hopefully). Enough of the Dem majority! We need a balance of Conservative and Liberal thoughts/policies here or CA will continue its descent into the authoritarian socialism abyss.

All democrats can go kick rocks.
