I’m literally at the mall, no gun shot sounds or sirens lol maybe miscommunication. or maybe i just missed the memo who knows nothing i can hear or see to call home about though

The police report and eye witnesses say differently. Stick to shopping instead of reporting you were far off on this one…

You missed it then. I was there. People running scared. Dude was shot at Shek shoes lower floor by food court

Was over there about 5:30pm getting gas at Safeway and the news was there plus practically every concord PD. Clearly something was going on.

I just got home from there. Loud bang and no one was sure what was going on initially. I was on 2nd floor in JC Penney and people came running in from mall but the staff didn’t know what happened for around 10 minutes. Apparently a shooting on bottom level near food court. Eventually Penney’s closed down the gate to the mall. It was weird because there was no quick notification or emergency protocol being followed which I would have expected.

Wow… What in the world is worth shooting at in a public place?

The bad guys doing the shooting!

.
Keep us updated. Thanks.

I hope everyone is all right. My son is a FedEx driver who had just finished deliveries when all the commotion began, police cars ambulance etc. I’m not sure what’s happening at our Sun Valley Mall these days, but not a safe space to be in lately.

What’s happening is that the thugs are coming in from Oakland, Vallejo, Pittsburg, and know that their crimes won’t be prosecuted. Beyond sickening…

@Virginia, unfortunately the Mall has not been safe for decades. The type of stores that are in the Mall attracts a very undesirable clientele.

@TTD. Yes, agreed. Sears is not long for this world, JCPenney’s looks weak, and wouldn’t be surprised if Macy’s leaves soon. Sunvalley will be another Hilltop Mall very soon.

Party like it’s nineteen-ninety … TWO!

I got a phone call from an employee of one of the businesses in the Sunvalley Mall who said the place is on lock down due to a shooting and once the police declare it safe, employees will be released to leave. A/O 4:15 PST

Concord—Where Families Come First.

The family that loots together
Shoots together!

Unbelievable. Sunvalley used to be such a nice mall in the past. Now it’s the jungle and very sketchy at times… Sad times.

Your right Tod concord doesn’t have a gang problem it’s all those gangsters from Vallejo and Pittsburg. Open your eyes

Concord has a bigger gang problem than you know buddy.

Sun Valley was the OK Corral in the early 90s. Lots of fools got stabbed for their raiders parkas and Air Jordans. My buddy and I got our bikes ganked at gunpoint on the top deck of the parking lot outside Macy’s c. 1991. Heard the perps got caught slippin’ later that year… I don’t recall anyone getting shot INSIDE the mall back then though.

For Tone
How do you tell if someone is from Vallejo or from Pittsburg?

What is your def of a gangster?

For me, looking at someone, it is hard to tell what city they are from. And if they are a gangster.

How do you make that judgement decision.

I’ve run out of words to express my heartbreak at the tragedies we are seeing.

I applauded the response of the police.

Everyone else in government has failed in their primary task.

They do not deserve the privilege of representing us.

Now that California has switched to permanent mail out ballots we have no chance of getting rid of the politicians and attorney generals that have turned our state into a war zone. We had little chance before but now none.

@Ricardoh,

See my name. That’s our chance.

Second Amendment That may be a temporary solution but it is no way for civilized people to live. Without law and order we have nothing.

For Tone
How do you tell if someone is from Vallejo or from Pittsburg?

What is your def of a gangster.

Is this the “go easy on crime” approach being taken by the Concord City Council which is creating this? If so, we should vote all the incumbents out at the next election.

+1

They all should resign for the shame of their failures.

Honestly, this was the first year since the 1970’s that I didn’t go to the Sun Valley mall at least once during the Christmas season. Sad.

We got to the mall just as the police arrived. We spoke to a store owner on the bottom level near the food court (which was all blocked off with polic tape) and he said that one of the stores was robbed and that one of the shooting victims was a store owner.

Oh my god, so brazen are these animals. And on New Years Eve… These thugs need to be quietly punished in a way they won’t forget, sad that this needs to be said, but the genie is out of the bottle…

At least it wasn’t another looting. Usually shooting investigations end in arrests and prosecutions.

“At least it wasn’t another looting.” Seriously, this is better? SMH…

Schmee meant the toothless da may actually prosecute

Maybe they will claim the Alec Baldwin, the gun went off by it’s self.

What an utterly stupid comment…

Tod get a life, you are showing your stupidity in your posts.

… sad, too bad with what SV’s become – but who is surprised? … not me

You won’t in the woke politicians, now you have to live with their decisions. 108RS

There are some joking comments on here but I was there with my daughter and it was the scariest experience of my life. So think before making your flippant remarks.

Agreed…

Our liberal masters don’t take this thuggery seriously.

Boo-hoo, who the hell are you to dictate how people opine on this dump mall overrun with ghetto rats?

@ Scared…. (great name) I’d suggest you don’t let your daughter read these remarks.
We aren’t going to sanitize and censor free speech just because you got frightened…. this is still America, for the time being anyway.

Do not allow yourself to think, “Well that is the way things are today”. Resist !!

The mall has turned into garbage, hardly anything to entice middle age to senior shoppers. Haven’t been there in 2 years and minimally before then, we have absolutely no desire to shop there, depressing environment.. Better to keep it open for the hip hop crowd, keeping them away from Walnut Creek.

Keep them away from Walnut Creek’s Broadway Shopping Center? Ahh, “they” are already here. Just open your eyes the next time you are walking around there.

Tod, what The Wizard wrote was just a joke, man people here need to lighten up.

Oh…, ok. SMH…

Ricardo With your idiotic comments people like you are the problem

Ricardo wasn’t the one shooting up the mall.

Do we know for sure?

Knee I’ll be the judge of that.

The suspects are described as 2 black males and their vehicle was registered out of Antioch. Surprised?

I am so very shocked. No way! Really?

I guess this means that our district attorney Becton will let them loose right away.

I was there and saw two young black males running away. Another black on black crime. Oakland crime spilling to Concord

WOW! I thought for sure it must’ve been white people given that they make up 65% of this county’s population, another shocker!!

… not in the least

They were driven to violent crime and indeed even attempted murder due to systemic racism and economic disadvantage. Anyone who disagrees is a Trump voting hate monger! It doesn’t matter that they were probably wearing $250 sneakers.

Hanne? You ok?

I know she’s at other end, but coulda’ been on break…

Enquiring minds wanna…

Funny, I was wondering about Hanne too!

@TTD. I thought the same thing about the stores at the mall. Besides Penney’s and Macy’s, all the stores seem to be for ball caps or basketball shoes, with some tacky jewelry stores mixed in. I thought I was the only one noticing this.

Damn teenager SUVs at it again.

Anyone wanna guess the race of the perps? I’m sure they were white male trump supporters according to MSNBC 😂

Here we go again, sterotyping, of course we don’t know yet. Does it matter? Someone posted they were from Antioch and black, if that is the case shouldn’t they still be prosecuted to the full extend of the law, if the were white, liberals or Trump supporters they same should apply.
As someone that deals with many customer’s everyday I can tell you, I have many customers from Antioch of every diversity, that pay their bills and are good middle class customers. Many of our manager’s and part of security are black or hispanic, does it really prove anything to try to paint it on one race, when many of the same race are upstanding citizens.

Hanne, Yes, it matters. Blacks commit crimes at three times the rate that whites do. Statistics don’t lie. 13% of the population commits 36% of the violent crimes. The phenomenon has been widely studied. For one reason, as a means to effectively allocate resources. There is no “stereotyping” involved. It’s a FACT. Your liberal “wokeness” makes it look like you’re sleepwalking through life. For example:

https://whiteprivilegeisntreal.org/black-vs-white-crime-statistics/amp/

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3969807/

https://open.lib.umn.edu/socialproblems/chapter/8-3-who-commits-crime/

Hanne – the statistics don’t lie…. Regardless of what you “feel” .

That’s why we’ve stopped going to sun valley and other POS malls. They have nothing I can’t get on Amazon.

Let the Mall finish itself off-if you shop there, you would be wise to go just about anywhere else. It’s been a ghetto mall for at least 20 years and isn’t going to get safer in time to save it.
RIP Sun Valley.

From the video footage I saw, provided it was actually from the scene, it looked like a body was being removed on a stretcher wrapped in a manner done so by the Coroner’s Office.

Looked like an insulation wrap to treat shock.

Doubt even the MSM would show a dead guy’s face on TV before the family was notified.

His face was wrapped, also.

GittyUp, Where is the liberal wokeness, when I advocate prosecuting to the full extend of the law, no matter the color. When you make these statements, why don’t you ever point out the upstanding and honest citizen of color? I do exsist as I’m sure you must be aware of.

Hanne,

Great people of color do exist. Like my lifetime friend who was a deputy sheriff, his brother the LAPD Captain and his other brother the FBI agent. But, just a small percentage of his ethnic group.

108RS

“I do exist as I’m sure you must be aware of”

Thanks for clarifying that Hanne….. I was pretty sure you were just a figment of my imagination, now I know you are real…. unless I just imagined your last comment that is.

Aww crap, now I’m right back where I started from.

Hanne, Your liberal “wokeness” is your insistence that those who point up the predictable are in the wrong.

Hanne, I find it stunning that you, an “import,” has the arrogance and gall to be telling me, a native, what to think. Where do you get off, really?

Originally I think it was Ellis Island.

I am not surprised I used to work for mall Security and we were trained for these kind of incidents. Sheik shoes has always had questionable customers.

New Years Eve at Sunvalley Mall.
Let the good times roll.

Thank you for your concern. Today was my day off, I work tomorrow from 1:30 to 9 p.m. I was just on Macy’s website, nothing there, if there had been any concern about our store I would have received a text. I remember a few years ago there were an issue with the Roseville store, and some stores affected by fire in other states, and our websites always had updates. So I plan on being at work tomorrow, and I will get a report from co workers who worked today.

Seem like this is fitting for the end of 2021 Bring on 2022

I’m not surprised at this but hope the victim(s) recover. They need more and better security at the mall no doubt about it. It’s gone so far down hill, it needs help.

I was in Tilly’s with two of my small children today when this occurred, and would like to commend the Tilly’s staff for calmly and swiftly ushering all dozen or so customers into the back storage room. They turned out the store lights, locked the front doors and maintained constant contact with security to keep us posted on the situation. It took about 20-30 minutes before they were given the all-clear by the PD and we were allowed to safely exit the mall. All of the employees were pretty young — late teens or early 20s — and they really handled themselves and the situation very professionally. That said, unless the mall installs metal detectors, adds 10x security, or maintains a roving patrol of onsite PD we will never return. This happens too often at Sun Valley and we have stayed away out of concern for exactly what we experienced today.

@RE-Fund the Police. Goodness, with little kid!. Sorry. Glad everything turned out okay.

@re-fund: glad to hear the Tillys employees were so awesome. I have a teenager who works a job (not at Sun Valley) & I cannot imagine how frightening this is for them and you & your kids. Nice to hear how they handled it. I agree with you. I will not go back to Sun Valley until metal detectors & way more security in place. I wish Concord City Council would demand it, but they do not seem to think Sun Valley Mall is worth saving because no one is doing jacks$&? About the crime there.

I was at the Stoneridge Mall in Pleasanton last week, and observed a guy with his pants under his butt (you know what I mean), dressed in black, hoodie over his head, with a full mask, “browsing” at Macy’s. Pretty obvious to me what “he” was doing… No one said a thing.

Did you see him actually take anything? Just because you didn’t observe that “nobody did a thing” does not mean that nobody took action. As a sales associate if I see something suspecious I discreetly call security, they then follow the subject on video, and when they have proof they can apprehend the suspect.

Is this a crime?

LOL! No, but the optics of this “gentleman” is pretty bad given the location and current events.

Hanne, take care of yourself at Sunvalley!

Hanne,

I’m going to guess that Macy’s policy is to just let them go, too much potential litigation risk, let alone an accidental false allegation of racial profiling.

Please be careful there, I stopped letting my daughter go to SV.

108RS

BLM!!!!! I hope the voters of CA continue to vote for great laws like prop 47 and AB 109. Let’s continue to vote for these great DA’S like in SF and in Contra Costa who are tough on crime. Don’t forget to defund the police or shrink their budgets and give the money to social justice. Let’s see more homeless on the streets too. Those nike shoes were a must have. If you can’t legally buy them or steal them the only thing left is to kill for them. BLM!!!

I’ll say one thing, BLM has a huge black eye at this point (pardon the pun). The optics of the situation is pretty horrible for BLM. But if you say this, you are branded a racist. Tell me the logic in any of this…?

Time to make Hwy 4 a toll road? Free for traffic headed East but not for traffic headed West at the Willow Pass?

Build a wall!

Meanwhile in Vietnam … I went for coffee with a Japanese buddy and sang karaoke over some cold Tiger beer … super chilled in Vietnam. But enjoy Concord ya’ll … #nevercomingback #thanksnewscum #thanksteamblue

I’d much rather be in Concord area versus South or North Vietnam. Nothing at all in any of those two countries I’d ever want to see again.

Vietnam is a socialist state governed by the Communist Party of Vietnam….. but you like it better than California?

Geez…. I don’t know if it’s better, but I’ll bet the taxes are lower there.

I missed my opportunity to visit Vietnam fifty years ago. I didn’t regret it then, and I don’t regret it now.

Jojo…. the Colonel Kurtz of Claycord.

Jojo The Circus Clown

This reminds me of an old joke.

Jojo and his kin discover they have rabid rats in the basement and they decided to go to war with the rats.

After a while, all of Jojo’s kin either defected or brought home war brides.

The democrat party is the “smash and grab” party
It’s all they know how to do
Low IQ bureaucrats are ruining the country
The state is run by a preening clown
All the mask and vax loons are glued to their tv screens
The only hope for the new year is the November wipeout
Then onward to impeachment and removal
We are still waiting for justice to be done
Obama and Hillary are guilty as hell

I second that. Lock them up, but we all know that won’t happen.

Like the outskirts of the Stoneridge mall, SV can be turned into housing. Less violence, shoplifting. More families have a place to live. The criminals can go back to house parties. They can stab, shoot & rob each other there….to music! The iffy shoe, jersey and cap shops can move to online and save the $3-$5 a sq’ for rent they pay to be robbed, looted and “shooted”

That’s the best description of democrats I have ever heard.
The Smash and Grab Party…brilliant.

I’m really getting sick of police and politicians hiding behind masks. Our city council won’t even face us except on zoom. Since when do we tolerate masked tyrants, closed public offices and no accountability? If they can’t show their face or deal with the public IN PERSON, we don’t need them.
