The “Water Cooler” is a feature on Claycord.com where we ask you a question or provide a topic, and you talk about it.

The “Water Cooler” will be up Monday-Friday in the noon hour.

Today’s question.

The federal and state government have been warning us for months that we should expect a “deadly winter surge” of COVID-19, but now we have to make appointments to get a COVID-19 test, and at-home tests are sold out everywhere you look.

QUESTION: Why do you think the politicians overlooked the need for more testing kits in the United States, and who do you blame for the lack of planning?

Talk about it….

They’re not inept, whatever everyone’s thoughts are on the 2020 election joes team pulled it off in 2020 and it’s never easy to become President not just for the candidate but for the teams working for them etc..they’re not stupid, nor are they ignorant to what is going on so it’s on purpose. They’re also cutting off treatments from being shipped to the states to treat covid and prevent deaths so this current government committing hostile acts against citizens to keep their big pharma owners free from the “vaccine” liability.

It’s all on purpose and they hate every single one of us whether you are democrat or not. You’re not in their club even if you think you are.

Because it’s all a HOAX. The common cold and the flu we’re used to scare you. The test and manipulation of numbers have you wearing a mask and submitting to an illegal government. Nobody in power deserves to be there. NOBODY.

I told you so.

Guess I’m old fashioned, don’t need a test. It’s kinda simple when sick you stay home. For me if oral thermometer gets over 103, maybe call primary doc.

Don’t try to use common sense. Liberals/democrats are genetically incapable of understanding it.

Captain Bebops December 30, 2021 - 12:39 PM - 12:39 PM

The home antigen tests are also PCR and we know how reliable those are. And the CDC is phasing out PCR tests. So this must be a “clearance sale”. Antibody tests have been developed but I don’t think they want you to have those because they can show if you’ve had covid and thus may be immune. It’s all about the money and control. Tell where they can stick their tests.

Fight back bigger and louder in 2022!

JWB December 30, 2021 - 1:43 PM - 1:43 PM

The amount of information on this site is staggering. You clearly have no clue what the difference between an antigen test, a PCR test, and an antibody test might be.

Home antigen tests are not PCR tests, they detect SARS CoV-2 antigen and not SARS CoV-2 nucleic acids.

PCR test detect SARS CoV-2 nucleic acids, they are the gold standard but they require specialized laboratories and equipment to perform them. You cannot perform them at home, the most you may be able is to collect the sample at home and send it to a special laboratory.

There is no reliability issue with the PCR test, the CDC has withdrawn its EU application because pretty much nobody uses the CDC PCR test any longer because there are plenty of commercial PCR tests on the market.

Antibody test are completely useless to control for infection because all they tell you that somewhen in the past you have been infected with the SARS CoV-2 virus. Also, these tests do not tell you anything about the quality of your antibodies and thus cannot tell you whether or not you would be protected against re-infection.

Captain Bebops December 30, 2021 - 4:11 PM - 4:11 PM

JWB, must be tough to go through all the staggering information here but you may learn something. Yes, the cheap antigen tests may not be PCR. The more expensive ones generally are PCR. The price of the expensive ones may be due insurance coverage so they might be gouging a bit.

But then why can’t we also get the antibody tests? They been designed to be for home use too. I located at least one case of them on Amazon but you need a clinic license to purchase them. Hmm. 😉

But it doesn’t matter if all you’re getting is the cold or the flu. When was the last time you had either of those? And do you really want to live in a Brave New World run by drug pushers … I mean companies?

JWB December 30, 2021 - 6:03 PM - 6:03 PM

once again Bebops

You clearly do not understand what you opine about. Antigen tests detect antigen no matter what they may cost. PCR is an acronym for polymerase chain reaction. It’s a technology developed originally at Cetus right here in our backyard. It uses a sophisticated technology to amplify very low amounts of nucleic acids in a sample so it can be detected. It uses heat to separate the two DNA strands and then at lower temperatures allows short pieces of nucleic acids (primers) to bind to the separated strands followed by a thermostable bacterial DNA polymerase to extend the primers to form new double stranded DNA, and then after being heated up to separate the two new strands the process starts again. You need very sophisticated equipment called a thermocycler which nobody has at home.

It just seems you picked up some snippets of information which you clearly cannot process, but rather than listening to the people who actually know you just keep making up stuff.

Anon December 30, 2021 - 7:37 PM - 7:37 PM

Do you know Albert Bourla?? Maybe you should give him a phone call and find our why he refuses to use his product! !!!

I’m not sure what the CEO of Pfizer would have to do with at home COVID testing, since Pfizer is not in the diagnostics business?

Sadly many listen to the media, Fauci, and CDC when it seems like an never ending daily change of something. As for the omnicron, if people would do their research, they would have read that the South African doctors said that it was very mild and didn’t understand the overreaction. Apparently ONE person has died of “omnicron” when they died of coronovirus. Omnicron has the same symptoms as the common cold, but unfortunately, the media blows it it. And are people listening that apparently the flu took a year off and now its back? Do these so called leaders think people are going to fall for it? Also, I encourage for people to call the CDC and ask questions. Call Phizer too and ask when it’ll be full approved by the FDA…. in about 4 yrs and Phizer will also tell you that it’s still in CLINICAL TRIAL. Just relax everyone and it’ll eventually just go away. Have you heard that Biden has given up on it and now it’s all on the States to figure it out.

It’s not a lack of planning, it’s all part of their plan. People are needing a negative test to go to work, a restaurant, or another event. When they find out that getting a test isn’t an easy task, they will be forced to get the jab or quit their job.
More restrictions, and mandates requiring Americans to get the jab, or a negative test in order to keep their job is being done for a reason, and that reason is to destroy the United States as we know it. They are mandating that the US military get the jab, knowing full well that many military personnel will refuse, and consequently will be discharged. Why? Because they want to weaken our military force. The same with our police, firefighters, medical workers, and other first responders. What’s a better way to weaken our country?
It’s all part of a plan to destroy our economy, and our country. The far Left are not shy about what their vision is for our country, they’ve been saying it for quite some time now. Army General Mark Miley, Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, the Squad, and our demented, out of touch, president are doing everything possible to turn our country into a socialist, Marxist nation.
Inflation is through the roof, store shelves are becoming empty, electricity, natural gas, and gasoline are at all-time highs, and long lines at COVID test sites are reminiscent of the USSR.
Trump isn’t around anymore to take the blame, so now they’re blaming COVID for everything, when in reality it’s not a virus that’s causing any of the country’s problems, it’s the far Left politicians.

Obiden is the face of the left, and that’s about all. The show is being run by others or other. The ability of the Dems to rapidly alter the Fed Gov’t is amazing. Levels of bureaucracy, short supply, inflation, DOJ chasing down Trump allies, higher taxes, expansion of IRS and promotion of Woke mentality are pushing us into an Orwellian nightmare scenario. COVID is too convenient for the Dems not to use for political gain, while Joe Obiden apparently gave up on the Feds to do anything about COVID and kicked it down to the states.
Dangerous time we’re living in.

That being said, I don’t take Medical advice from anyone other than my physician. Certainly not a politician or a bureaucracy.

I don’t recall our gov’t warning us for months about a “deadly winter surge” due to the wide availability of vaccines and prior infection. In fact, I remember Trump’s former FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb predicting that Delta would be our last surge.

So far this surge HAS NOT BEEN DEADLY. It is milder than Delta, basically a cold now. Everyone wants a covid test so they can get out of work for a few days.

Anarchy is Anarchy, its the nature of the beast in humans. Instead of looking at a solution, they argue and fight the political reasoning. If you want to place blame, place it on those who decided it was and is their right, their freedom, which has nothing to do with freemdoms and rights in this health crisis as our forefathers would have said, and make their own decisions not to get vaccinated against the virus. Thus we are where we are in America. Trump wouldn’t have overlooked it and Biden has done what he could with the masses fighting all the way! Of course there are exceptions minus what I’ve said here so far but after ten were in ICU and I found out my daughter was the only one vaccinated with underlying healthy conditions and they called her a winner, as the husband next to lost his wife to COVID, Anarchy be damned!

Geezus people have transformed into robots. Examples… 3 families we know all of them have 2-4 kids ages 3-10 and the parents are testing themselves and all their kids every 4 hours round the clock and even go as far as to test themselves before they go in the door of the grocery store and then again when they come out. This is ridiculous, looked at their testing kit inventory it’s in the 1000’s. No wonder there is a shortage of testing kits because of all these hoarders that are totally brainwashed beyond their control anymore.
I’ve seen a local line go for three blocks outside of some local stores around here and looking at the people in the line I can tell you right now 95% of them don’t even need to test themselves, I swear somebody has a juicy fart with a sniffle and they got to go test themselves cuz they think they got Covid.
I’ve even seen people in stores testing themselves as a shop I haven’t said anything to these numbskulls yet but man I am awful tempted now.
A few lookovers in vehicles next to me and yup..testing while they drive.

No need to see stupidity in order to believe.

Led December 30, 2021 - 2:40 PM - 2:40 PM

As far as the shortage goes, it is largely the FDA’s fault. In typical bureaucracy fashion, they prioritize their process over the actual end-goal. So there are millions of test kits getting manufactured in the US and sent overseas because the FDA just utterly failed to do its ostensible job.

That said, this is not the big thing people are making it out to be. Rapid tests can be useful IF you have enough to test frequently: I’ve seen them used to quash an outbreak in a residential community, where you can contact trace and quarantine people. And if you are trying to protect a specific family member, etc., then having rapid tests as part of your strategy can be a big deal.

But as far as controlling the spread in the general public – well, rapid tests are widely available in Western Europe, and they got a super fast omicron wave just like everyone else. Basically, elderly people need to be vaxxed, middle-aged adults should probably get vaxxed (but not forced to), and aside from that, Omicron is a good thing. It is hastening the process whereby Covid becomes just another cold. Mostly mild, confers long-lasting immunity.

Now we just need to prevent the Covid nanny-state from becoming permanent, like the Patriot Act and the post-9/11 security state.

Led December 30, 2021 - 2:42 PM - 2:42 PM

If you want to understand why it is so stupid to say “trust the science” when you mean “trust a federal bureaucracy,” read this article on how the FDA prevented many, many rapid tests from ever coming to the US market.

Anon, yes I’m sure that Kary Mullis died well before anybody ever knew about Covid-19 and well before there ever were PCR tests to detect SARS CoV-2 nucleic acids.

I’m also sure that Kary was a nut, I actually knew him personally. But maybe you should look at people getting infected with HIV through blood transfusions or factor VIII concentrates and see how their loved ones feel about Kary’s claim that HIV is a harmless virus and doesn’t cause AIDS.

I really don’t care what Event 201 might be. I’m not really into conspiracy theories.

As for the CDC PCR tests, the CDC developed its own PCR test under EUA. Not many were using it after the big commercial players started to market their own PCR test (i.e. Roche, Abbott and many others). That’s why the CDC withdrew its EUA for the test and as of early 2022 will no longer supply any reagents for it. You can find this yourself on the internet.

Testing is both a waste of money and time. The only people who should be tested are those that have to through employment, school, or travel. Now brain-dead biden is ordering 500M test kits which will probably be ordered from China like our Green Infrastructure materials. We might receive them by this Summer. Remember when former Governor Cuomo an Newscum were foaming at the mouth last year regarding contact teaching? Another waste of money and time. Fauci needs to retire and biden needs to resign. The “need” for testing. Elected “representatives” and unelected career bureaucrats telling we the (once free) citizens of this great country that we HAVE to take a test before boarding a plane, or entering certain facilitates. My personal belief is the “need” for a test is in and of itself, ludicrous. Let those who live in fear of the virus take the precautions they deem necessary. To be clear, there are some who have every reason to be to be cautious, or overly cautious, but that is absolutely no reason to put mandates on everyone else.

Your links certainly are accurate and are saying the same thing I told Bebops earlier. The “Ultrasensitive antigen test” from UC Santa Cruz is not a home test. It was designed to detect both SARS CoV-2 and Influenza antigens and uses different detection system that emit a light signal at different wavelength for SARS CoV-2 and influenza. It is a sophisticated test requiring special equipment and is not comparable to the common home tests on a stick.

The home tests you can buy online or at a pharmacy do not detect influenza antigens. They solely detect SARS CoV-2 antigens. That should answer your question.
