San Francisco Cancels New Year’s Eve Fireworks Show Due To COVID-19

San Francisco city officials said they’ve decided to cancel the city’s annual New Year’s Eve Fireworks Show over concerns around COVID-19.

Thousands of residents and guests typically pack along the Embarcadero to watch the show, but last year people were told to stay home to prevent large gatherings and limit the virus’ spread.

Once again, city officials are remaining cautions.

“While we are all understandably eager to ring in a new year with San Francisco’s customary New Year’s Eve fireworks show, we must remain vigilant in doing all we can to stop the spread of the COVID-19 Omicron variant,” Mayor London Breed said in a statement. “By canceling the New Year’s Eve fireworks show we are reducing everyone’s exposure to COVID-19, while ensuring continuity of citywide public safety operations.”

As of last week, the city was seeing an average of 305 new COVID-19 cases per day, compared to an average of just 91 cases the week prior.

This is what happens when the “Cancel-Culture” gains power and the Liberal Media-Tech Complex supports them.

What a bunch of idiots.

Sam December 29, 2021 - 10:28 AM - 10:28 AM

San Francisco is like Chicago west. Just a completely run down crime ridden——hole. Under decades of full democrat control, this is what you get. I wonder how long they can even make payroll without a omicron bailout.

I hope everyone realizes all these bailouts (Covid stimulus) is what allowed this hoax to even take place. From unemployment to business to government. Nobody would have survived without the government propping it up. In exchange COVID is pushed. This is San francisco laying the groundwork for more money from the federal government….I mean taxpayers.

Aunt Baebara December 29, 2021 - 12:00 PM - 12:00 PM

and now the mayor that began SF’s severe decline… is Governor of California. Any wonder we are in the mess we are in?

It’s amazing people can’t connect the dots.

What is worse, Aunt Barbara, is that he wants to be president next! He’s conniving in every way he can towards that goal.

Correction December 30, 2021 - 12:50 PM - 12:50 PM

The mayor that began San Francisco’s severe decline is the senior Senator from California.

Straight Left December 29, 2021 - 11:35 AM - 11:35 AM

I had plans on going to this event. Thanks to the unvaccinated for ruining this to, not just me, but to everyone who got their vaccines and their booster shots. We ALL want this pandemic to end but these people are stuck to their beliefs that this vaccine is against their freedom and political views. Even 45 encourages everyone to take it. Yet, so many right wing supporters have not been vaccinated. I know life is unfair. But when a percentage of people are not putting the same effort as millions of people, it is quite unfair.

Many of us just want to put this year behind. We wanted to celebrate by going into next year with this little celebration. But this has been thwarted. I guess we just have to turn this negative into a positive.

T-rex December 29, 2021 - 12:03 PM - 12:03 PM

To be fair everyone I know who has gotten Covid all had the “vaccine” already.

Life isn't fair December 29, 2021 - 12:06 PM - 12:06 PM

Vaccinated people can pass the Chinese Virus to other vaccinated people.
If you want somebody to blame, blame the wannabe dictators that run the state!

Dawg December 29, 2021 - 1:41 PM - 1:41 PM

How bigoted of you to put all the blame on right wing supporters. I know of many left wing supporters who refuse to get the jab. Look at how many medical professionals in New York who were fired because they refused the jab. The very same medical professionals who were hailed as heroes at the beginning of the pandemic lost their livelihoods.
By claiming they are right wing supporters, who by the way are living in a very Democrat state, is a very naive statement. If you want to place blame, place it on Dr Fauci, he has been trying to cancel out every holiday event since the beginning.
As of Dec 17, 2021, there have been a total of 983,756 COVID vaccine adverse events reported, and 108,572 COVID vaccine hospitalizations.
The unvaccinated have to listen to people like you who try to bully them, and make them feel some sort of guilt. Well, it isn’t working.
You’re right, life isn’t fair, and we all have to deal with it. Now grow up and act like an adult.

Glen223 December 29, 2021 - 1:51 PM - 1:51 PM

@dawg👍👍👍

Putting blanket blame on the “right wing” shows how clueless some folks are….

I, for one, would like to see the proof that supports the claim of “straight left” – which is an interesting moniker in itself, given the comment.

JJ December 29, 2021 - 2:35 PM - 2:35 PM

How naive to think that life would go back to normal if 100% of people took the jab. No, no. Look at how the story has changed. From crushing the virus to this is now up to states. From the vaccine will stop infection to now it’s just a means of not having a rough time of it. We know the vaccinated can get and spread the virus. Every event I’ve been to requires me to show a negative test because I have not taken the jab. If I were to be infected it would be because of a vaccinated person who was allowed entry while being infected with the virus. In these circumstances it is the vaccinated spreading.

Now the company I work for is requiring a booster to remain employed. This is what our future looks like. Constant vaccines in order to participate in society. I’m not responding to enter into an argument I am responding with compassion and hope that you and others can open their eyes to what the agenda is here. I take the virus very seriously but there must be an end to this authoritarianism. It’s not about keeping us safe from a virus. I’ve heard it said that they are exercising ultimate power in forcing people into a binary solution and I say solution very loosely here. There is risk in everything including the vaccines. Where there is risk, even if small and rare, there must be a choice. Open your eyes and read between the lines.

Gittyup December 29, 2021 - 11:43 PM - 11:43 PM

It is completely unrealistic to state that “everyone must be vaccinated.” Some people, a segment of society, are immunocompromised. A vaccination would kill them. They simply do not make an immune response to invasive bacteria, viruses, or foreign substances introduced into their system, etc. Another segment of society is under treatment with a type of management for cancer which destroys their immune system temporarily to deliver cancer fighting medication. Yet another segment of society has allergies to ingredients in the vaccines which would likely trigger anaphylaxis, causing them to be unable to breathe — a medical emergency.

Everyone cannot get vaccinated. Some may be objecting to getting the vaccine because they belong to one or more of these groups. It is unfair and unkind to blame them for the spread of the virus when the vaccination for it could easily kill them.

miguel December 29, 2021 - 11:35 AM - 11:35 AM

In a city where it is perfectly logical to pack thousands in for basketball games, while some restaurants will only accept vax passports with proof of booster (and do not accept negative test results either), and a mayor who called to defund the police and complains about all the crime while constantly violating the city’s own mask mandate, it only makes sense to cancel an outdoor event.

Cyn December 29, 2021 - 11:52 AM - 11:52 AM

Would anyone care to explain why a vaxxed and boosted crowd at an OUTDOOR event simply will not be tolerated by the bull$hi! mayor?

Joe December 29, 2021 - 2:20 PM - 2:20 PM

Got boosted yesterday.
Feel bad today & off work.

Why bother with anything after the first jab.
As we were told at the time, the first jab protects against serious infection.

With the vaccination rate in the Bay being high, cut loose on the restrictions.
Or
As I suspect, do these jabs not really work as well as they’d like us to believe?

Joe

Ricardoh December 29, 2021 - 11:54 AM - 11:54 AM

Will covid go away like the Black Plague or the Spanish Flu. Will people wear masks from now on and get booster vaccines shots in perpetuity? Soon it will be time to stop the mandates and rely on therapeutics. When the government and the vaccine company cartels admit they can do no more like Biden just did.

Gittyup December 29, 2021 - 12:02 PM - 12:02 PM

I think I’m beginning to see a pattern here: Vaccinated people get together to celebrate somethiing … anything … Christmas, New Year’s, Thanksgiving … thereby infecting the unvaccinated … and then COVID-19 cases soar. The vaccinated should stay home, not travel, not get together to celebrate, and not eat out and we’d get this thing licked.

chuckie the troll December 29, 2021 - 1:32 PM - 1:32 PM

Over here in our Free State, the Church we attend is going to have a New Year’s Eve Candlelight Service. No masks or vaccine passports required. And no, people are not dying in the streets here. In fact, it sounds as if Democrat-run cities and states have the worst Communist Chinese Weaponized Xi Corona Virus infection rates.

Nick December 29, 2021 - 1:33 PM - 1:33 PM

The party isn’t cancelled. You know London Breed will be partying with her friends (and not wear a mask).

Chris December 29, 2021 - 2:24 PM - 2:24 PM

We all know sister Breed will be out partying like a Hip Hop artist not wearing a mask while in a crowded indoor setting. Can’t wait to see the pictures of her as well as the excuses. The serfs need to be quiet and obey their leaders.

Lari December 29, 2021 - 6:13 PM - 6:13 PM

@JJ you wrote that your company is now requiring a booster. So, what will that mean for you? My question is sincere, not sarcastic. My soon-to-be ex-employer is also now mandating a booster, even though they have already forced everyone to get a vaccine and have recently begun mandatory rapid testing twice a week if you go to the building. We are all still working remotely, by the way, but they are trying to bring people back on a hybrid schedule starting late January. Oh, and my new job is fully remote.

Jeff (the other one) December 29, 2021 - 8:06 PM - 8:06 PM

silly. ridiculous. typical.

Nobody wants to go to San Francisco on purpose anymore.
