Contra Costa County Now Requiring Appointments For COVID-19 Testing

A sharp increase in demand this week has forced Contra Costa Health Services to now require appointments at testing locations in Richmond and San Ramon.

CCHS previously offered testing to people without appointments as capacity permitted. But until further notice, appointments will be required for tests at the clinics, at 25th Street and Nevin Avenue in Richmond and 2600 Camino Ramon in San Ramon.

Testing appointments can be made by going to https://bit.ly/3ql41kX or by calling (833) 829-2626.

Appointments for testing at state-operated clinics in Antioch, Brentwood, Pleasant Hill and San Pablo are also available at https://lhi.care/covidtestingor by calling (833) 829-2626.

Community health care providers may also offer testing services to their patients and members.

County health officials said this week they have distributed about 14,000 no-cost rapid antigen test kits into the community through the district offices of Contra Costa County’s supervisors, community-based organizations, testing sites and other venues. They expect about 14,000 more home test kits next week from the California Department of Public Health, which will also be distributed promptly. Home test kits may also be available for sale at drugstores and online commercial sites.

CCHS’ two testing sites, as well as state testing sites operating in Antioch, Brentwood, Pleasant Hill and San Pablo, will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, as well as New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

For more information, including site locations and hours, people can visit coronavirus.cchealth.org/get-tested.

There is no such thing as Covid testing. The test recognizes organic pathogens. That’s it.

COVID-19 Testing: What You Need to Know
Updated Dec. 6, 2021
https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/symptoms-testing/testing.html
Types of COVID-19 Tests
COVID-19 tests can detect either SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, or antibodies that your body makes after getting COVID-19 or after getting vaccinated.

Tests for SARS-CoV-2 tell you if you have an infection at the time of the test. This type of test is called a “viral” test because it looks for viral infection. Antigen or Nucleic Acid Amplification Tests (NAATs) are viral tests.

Tests for antibodies may tell you if you have had a past infection with the virus that causes COVID-19. Your body creates antibodies after getting infected with SARS-CoV-2 or after getting vaccinated against COVID-19. These tests are called “antibody” or “serology” tests.

@Justifiable

Cousin had Covid 3 months ago. The at home tests in the last week have never come back positive.

The antibodies leave after a while

Concord Resident: The information available is all over the map. Thank you for the input.

Our friends in the Foothills are another example. One kid tested positive, one negative. They live together in a giant walless underground garage. The mom and dad tested positive a few months later. They all recouperated without hospitalization and vaxxing.

The community does not mask. The kid that tested negative for Covid works in a restaurant. They don’t eat like bay area peeps. The Covid scare tactics are total BS to them.

You need to be a real special type of person to get tested for a cold when you’re not sick. Liberalism is a mental disorder. You people are addicted to state abuse. Stop getting tested and the whole thing goes away.

@ Sam,

You are 100% correct!! I agree!!

+100 to Sam’s post. What a scam and what a sham this has become.

Anon December 24, 2021 - 9:27 AM - 9:27 AM

Testing for what? Dead nucleotides or something you’re body has already put in check!

It only takes 6 months of Non-Stop propaganda to brainwash a population, it appears to have worked!!!

Looks like a Omicron positive result is the “Million Dollar Wound”!!
A negative Covid result simply means come on back for another test until you get a positive result.

State tests (PCR) take 4 days to return results and County (Rapid Antigen) takes 3 days to return results. Pretty much useless.

Captain Bebops December 24, 2021 - 11:47 AM - 11:47 AM

There are home 15 minute antigen (PCR) tests though some places won’t accept them. Not sure the “official” PCR tests would be any better anyway. Probably because of the kickback somebody is getting. The home antibody tests are also 15 minute.

Captain Bebops December 24, 2021 - 10:32 AM - 10:32 AM

Home test kits are way overpriced. They were designed to be sold at places like Dollar.25 Tree.

What’s missing are the antibody tests also designed and available over the counter in places other than the US also for about a buck. But those are bad for business because it might show that unvaxxed may have that vaunted “herd immunity” and Bill Gates would cry at money missed out. Probably why he and Soros bought Mologic which had developed such a test so they could keep it off market.

To Do List December 24, 2021 - 11:08 AM - 11:08 AM

Democrats: frequently wrong but never in doubt. Today’s top CNN story is that guidance has changed on mask wearing, and their top story second paragraph says, “Cloth masks are little more than facial decorations. There’s no place for them in light of Omicron,” said CNN Medical Analyst Dr. Leana Wen. Many here have been saying that for a year, but continuously taunted by liberal talking heads that conservatives don’t believe in science, are not virologists, and are causing deaths and prolonging the pandemic.

Do we need to show proof of vaccination or negative test before showing up for COVID testing?

cheeseburguesa December 24, 2021 - 11:50 AM - 11:50 AM

Serious question for anyone out there that ever tested positive:
Do the results tell you which variant you have, i.e. do the tests know the differences between which variant they have detected? As far as I can see the procedure is the same, even when the Gov swabbed himself for the cameras, and when new variants were announced there was no concurrent announcement of a new test or procedure to find it.

kd_ca December 24, 2021 - 2:53 PM - 2:53 PM

No, the results do not test for variant type. Variant type testing is only done when you are hospitalized with severe covid.

Anon December 24, 2021 - 3:27 PM - 3:27 PM

No.
There’s been videos posted of people calling the testing center and they flat out tell you that they cannot detect the variant.

This whole thing is a Scam.
PS: The current PCR test is no longer to be used after December 31st.

Fed UP December 24, 2021 - 6:55 PM - 6:55 PM

No. Antigen tests just test for the antigen and are useful if it’s positive, not so useful if it’s negative. The PCR test are amplification tests and are much more sensitive.

Neither of those technologies will give you what variant you have. Those are tested at the public health level and higher. However, the Omicron variant is rapidly becoming the dominant strain because of its high contageous rate.

It is not true that the public health departments will test only when you are hospitalized with severe Covid. Genetic subtyping is done randomly among positive tests in a population. Of course, that doesn’t count the home tests.

chuckie the troll December 24, 2021 - 1:19 PM - 1:19 PM

I have never been tested for Xi Corona Virus, sent from Communist China, with love.

Fully vaccinated, with booster. Take Vitamin D every morning. Eat well and drink plenty of alcohol (for medicinal purposes, of course). No masks required here in our free state, and no freezers full of dead bodies like in New York. Each to their own.

Have a Merry Christmas and remember why we celebrate it.
