A group of Democratic lawmakers including Sen. Dianne Feinstein and Rep. Eric Swalwell this week wrote a letter calling for a requirement that domestic air passengers show proof of their full COVID-19 vaccination status or a recent negative test.
Feinstein, D-California, and Swalwell, D-Castro Valley, joined Reps. Ritchie Torres, D-New York, and Don Beyer, D-Virginia, in sending the letter to U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky and Federal Aviation Administration Administrator Steve Dickson.
The four lawmakers noted that both proof of COVID-19 vaccination and a negative test is already required for people coming to the U.S. from a foreign country, but domestic travelers are not even required to show that they have recently tested negative for the virus.
Proof of vaccination or a negative test are also required for domestic travelers flying to Hawaii, otherwise they are required to quarantine after arriving.
“Ensuring the health and safety of air travelers and their destination communities is critical to mitigating the ongoing COVID-19 surge, especially as the virus continues to evolve,” they said in the letter.
Last month, the four lawmakers and 32 other members of Congress wrote a letter to President Joe Biden also calling for a vaccination and negative test requirement.
Feinstein has also introduced a bill that would require airlines to confirm that their passengers are full vaccinated, have tested negative or are fully recovered from the virus.
On Monday, Swalwell said in a Twitter post that it is “one-hundred percent batty” that unvaccinated people have carte blanche to fly domestic.
“It’s unsafe in the cabin and we are transporting the virus,” Swalwell said. “Requiring the vaccine to fly is the LEAST we can do to stop the spread.”
A mid-November Harris Poll survey of roughly 2,000 U.S. adults found that 66 percent were in favor of airlines requiring proof of vaccination to board a domestic flight.
Last month, U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg suggested in an interview with NBC’s Meet the Press that such a mandate was not imminent and that current measures like mask requirements when flying and in airports and vaccine requirements for those in the travel industry were enough to keep passengers safe.
“What we’re doing right now is working to make air travel safe,” he said. “It’s a little bit of a different picture, of course, when you have international travel because different countries have different standards … but between the masking and the other mitigations, we’re very confident in the safety of air travel.”

I’m a lot younger than Diane, but I learned something a long time ago that she must not have. Sometimes the correct course of action is to take no action at all.
It’s important to know what to do, but it’s just as important to know what not to do.
These lawmakers have far too much time on their hands coming up with all kinds of ways to pass new BS laws or regulations. Their lawmaker status needs to be reduced from a full time job to a part time job, they need less time to find ways to mess with us. They also need to be severely restricted on how much they can collaborate on the public dime. They should be allowed a number of communication hours each year paid for by the public, and that’s it. They need to learn to be efficient and effective when speaking to one another, all they do now is scheme on how to collaborate to commit crimes and undermine our country. It shouldn’t be easy to pass new laws that restrict us even more.
Until they can gain trust back they should be treated like kindergartners that do not know right from wrong, because they clearly do not.
They also clearly do not know the vaccinated are the ones spreading the virus, so not only do they act like children they can’t read very well either.

A person can get a negative test and five minutes later somebody with COVID can cough or sneeze, and infect them. Also, showing proof of a vaccine doesn’t necessarily mean a person isn’t infected.
I chose not to fly ever again after being groped by a TSA agent for no reason. None. Vaccine status aside, if I am travelling anywhere I will be driving. The power hungry are insidious and invading our privacy and freedoms…what we have left of them.

Why is there any test exception at all if you’re vaccinated? Vaccinated people are spreading covid with breakthrough infections left and right. They should have to test negative too. Pack a plane with 80 vaccinated people and some of them are bound to be infected.
Vaccinated are sucking up the services getting vaccinated, vaccinated, boosted, boosted, again, and tested, tested, tested … endlessly … so that unvaccinated can’t get accesses to services. I have seen vaccinated walking out of CVS with HANDFULS of test kits. How many test kits can one person use in a lifetime? People have gone positively nuts over this. Stop blaming the unvaccinated and take a look at how vaccinated are hogging the services. You can’t even get the informational websites to work, the vaccinated are so busy hanging there on every word. There is a personality type that thrives on this sort of chaos and it’s the VACCINATED.
Kinda silly since airline employees aren’t required to be vaxxed, not to mention that being jabbed does not prevent illness nor stop transmission. Only idiots would think this is any kind of solution.

I did a lot of travel by plane from the 1970s through the 1990s. Less so after 9-11. Some of my trips were last minute though short distances so I would book a first class seat (often the only available seats). Indeed I would find some people in first class who would turn up their noses at “riff-raft” seated there. I pretty much figured the rich were really upset at all the folks traveling globally back when such travel was such a bargain. So it goes.
