The “Water Cooler” will be up Monday-Friday at noon.
Governor Newsom announced state funding this week to help with a crackdown on retail theft.
QUESTION: Do you think this is a good move, or too little, too late?
Talk about it.
Gavin and London Breed must have done the math and realized that they get bigger $ from anti-crime donors then they get from the BLS crowd.

Wait, how does spending $25M on gun “buyback” programs have anything to do with combatting retail theft? Sounds like your typical Democrat bait and switch.

Typical Dem move. There is an opportunity to spend good amount of money to advance their favorite pet program. They just couldn’t help it.

All the buy back programs do is put a higher price on having legal guns stolen to be traded in with no questions asked. Easy money
It’s in service of their gun ban agenda. It’s not informed policy, they like criminals more than people with agency. They’d take our free speech too, they just haven’t figured out how to do it yet.
That latter. Let all the prisoners out so you can try to act like a hero later.
Bingo!
Waste of time and money unless the plan involves repealing proposition 47, replacing existing liberal district attorneys with aggressive pro incarceration types, building more prisons and filling them up and stop defunding and neutering the Police and let them do their jobs. None of this will happen but we can dream can’t we?
👍🏼
It’s catch and release unless Prop 47 & 57 are repealed
All of this, 100%
If you think they will go about this task correctly think again.
Late. You don’t lock the barn after the horse catches on fire.
…. situation normal for Newson, London, Schaff, Biden & Harris…. too little too late… sigh.. 🙁
It’s never too late, but I’ll believe it when I see the actual results. More money isn’t going to change the attitudes of the woke DA’s who are refusing to prosecute, and the liberal judges who are letting criminals out without bail. Liberal politicians are dictating how the police do their job, and weak police chiefs allow it to happen.
Gavin Newsom has let thousands of felons out of prison, and cut police funding, the recent spike in crime is a direct result. The Dems have no one to blame but themselves. Now that crime is on the rise, will any Democrat ever admit it’s because of their policies? I doubt it.
The smart ones here on Claycord.com all saw it coming, and predicted crime will skyrocket. Some of our local politicians read the comments here, and have demonstrated by their actions that they are in denial and don’t care.
Now because of the recent robberies, it’s the consumer who has to suffer. Stores are making it harder to shop, They are locking their products, and blocking their entries and exits. In some areas, the police have closed the streets. This will be their demise, as more people will rather shop online than put up with the inconvenience the retail stores are placing on them.
The Dems got what they deserve, they voted for this, and they will keep right on electing more of the same. Smash and grab has been happening for quite some time now, and the Dems were denying that it was a problem. Now that the high-end retail stores are being hit, they want to do something about it. I find it extremely difficult to feel any empathy for them.
This is typical Democrat behavior. Create a crisis, pretend to care, and fix it by throwing more money at it. In the end, they will create the illusion that they are doing something about it, and the weak-minded will re-elect them, when in reality, it will end in another failure.

Newsom has no legitimacy after the farcical recall fraud where they claimed that only 38 percent voted for recall which was the exact same percentage as voted for Cox in 2018
This means exactly zero Democrats voted for recall which fits their narrative that it was a Trumpist recall
Diana and the board specifically Mitchoff are hiding from the issue and are the main impediment to forming a new attitude about retail theft in the county
Diana needs to due a press conference and speak to the crime community that she is not their advocate any longer
If she does not then mitchoff needs to begin the process of hiring a second DA for central county who will do the job required
What Dawg said .
Gee, who could’ve predicted that Defund The Police would lead to an increase in crime? Only everyone- except the idiot Dems.
Make that, idiot liberal Dems. I am Dem., and voted yes on the recall.
A copy cat, knee jerk follower and possible presidential candidate . . .
What’sa matter did some rich campaign contributor finally get inconvenienced by this crime wave created by liberals ? ? ?

Spend our tax money to for a mess they made. We have idiots running this state. What about holding people accountable for there actions and being punished for the laws the break. This crap would end real fast then.

Anyone else think the government creates conditions ripe for crime so the people will request increased policing and mass surveillance?
I like the Oakland Mayor’s idea of more cameras and plate reading on the roads going into and out of the towns and cities. Yes, some of the cars/plates are stolen but at worse, it might help maybe recover some stolen cars.
Dorothy, thanks for making my point. See above
If you hate the problems the government creates just wait until you see the solutions.
This.

Now he has pre-approved funding to start a couple new commissions …appointments to keep friends and families of donors in his greasy-palm lane.
The only crackdown we need is the sound of an old-fashioned police Billy club, preferably of ironwood, cracking down on some perp’s head.
But those days are over.
And I expect sometime soon that cities, and the municipal bonds they float, will both be judged by their ESG score and those cities with a low score due to failure to acquiesce to BLM demands will be shut-out from investment funds, as well as commercial bank loans.
It’s going to happen.
Gavin Newsom and all the liberal Democrats have caused this problem! The public is now furious so they’re trying to act like they’re going to do something about it. I honestly don’t think they will. I honestly think they want it to get worse.
Come on how stupid can you be? You look 20,000 prisoners out of jail expect the streets to be quiet????
When the Democrat machine rigged the 2020 election (from CNN, MSNBC, Google and others silencing the Hunter Biden laptop story, to the voting irregularities in swing states), it sent a message to criminals — our politicians no longer value honesty. When you have lawless leaders, how can you expect the public to be lawful? https://bit.ly/3E8CsjE
HE RELEASED THE CRIMINALS FROM JAIL!! My God, we’re dumbells…
It’s proposal added to budget and might not get voted on till next June. So as of right now nothing changes.
It just gets worse.
Everything The Grease Ball does now is aimed at making him look Presidential.
2024 is approaching very quickly.
As long as Dominion is still in place, he’ll win by more than Biden did.
No way…. fool me twice, shame on me!

Listen carefully to Gavin and he says it is our fault. To Gavin this is not a problem with their idiotic criminal friendly policies, but rather this money is being used to address our “fears and anxieties” about the crime. He spins it so their policies are not the problem but rather that we are mentally ill.
Looks like a hammer and crow bar buy back scheme would be more appropriate to the evidence … although certainly no more effective.
Let’s recal… Oh never mind!
“State funding” means another tax increase. Probably by way of fees to make those who pay less attention realize how much the state takes. As usual, I am sure the state will take plenty in, with little result other than some happy bureaucrats.
Let’s not forget that the gullible California voters made it law (47) and we will
not likely see it overturned. Too many white liberals carrying guilt for all the major problems as pushed by the left. Being woke is all that matters.
The only solution to this problem is to defund Kleptofornica. Everyone who has to pay income and or property taxes should simply leave. Without the ability to spend other peoples money, the far Left is just a sound bite away from a free lunch. The electorate has proven itself incapable of rational thought.
So, we the taxpayers will have to pay for the crime problem, created mainly by the democrat government and their supporters. Got it.
A disingenuous effort at best.
It’s like slashing someone with a knife and then handing them a band-aid.
Who in their right mind would say “thank you” for that?
According to channel two news last night by the time this is approved the earliest it will be activated is June or July. I told you it is a waste.
It took these morons decades to do something about sideshows so this is moving at the speed of light. Too bad it will accomplish very little or nothing.
none of the hooligans who are just boldly walking out of retail stores with 949.00 in cash and prizes are not even armed…
State funding? Give me a break. We already fund agencies who are tasked with handling the problem. Law enforcement, DA office prosecutors, incarceration facilities. It’s just more of the endless pandering by governor Gavin the Rat.
And it’s another prime example of something the Rat does exceptionally well: Making taxpayers pay over and over and over again for the same government services.
If Newson would “grow-a-pair”, organized retail thefts would be prosecuted under RICO and, any individual stealing merchandise (item or basket-size) totaling over $99.99 would be rewarded with a felony.
