It’s a tie between Home Alone, and National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.
I heard Bad Santa is a funny movie, so I watched it a couple of nights ago, and I didn’t see what the big deal was. I like Billy Bob Thornton, but in Bad
Santa, he played a drunk who was always cussing, and abusing a little kid who only wanted to be his friend. I just don’t see the humor in a foul mouthed drunk, abusing children.
Funny you mentioned Magnum Force. I was part of the protest scene at SF City Hall. A bunch of us played softball every weekend at Big Rec baseball fields and were asked to be extras by a friend who was involved in production. We showed up around 5:30, gave our information to get paid (like $5 an hour), and hung around while the crews set everything up. We got a little direction on how to “act” as protesters (not hard, given it was SF in the 70’s!) and then did a couple of takes. My buddies and I went to the opening matinee and were calling out names of our buddies when they appeared on screen.
Magnum Force is another Christmas watcher for me…Great insider info Phil.

There is a neat little Christmas vignette which appeared on MAD TV called “Raging Rudolph”. Think Rankin-Bass meets Martin Scorsese.

It’s a wonderful life, watch it almost every Christmas, has so many uplifting messages, and of course stellar cast of old time hollywood stars, James Stewart and Donna Reed. Have seen “Scrooged” several times both the original and a later version, but haven’t seen it in years. Also like a lifetime movie with Linda Hamilton “Home by Christmas” it’s about a well to do suburban housewife, that finds out her husband has an affair with excerise instructor, much younger of course, and leaves her for the younger woman. Linda ends up being homeless for awhile, due to several unfortunate events, getting robbed, not taking a big settlement etc. in the end she prevails, finds a new career and much nicer man, a story many divorced woman can relate to.
It’s a Wonderful Life….you’ll shoot your eye out right behind.
Die Hard
Definitely Die Hard! Number two is Gremlins
Precisely! “WELCOME TO THE PARTY, PAL!”
