Grant funding applications are open for public agencies and private businesses to mitigate the costs of buying and installing public electronic vehicle charging stations, The Bay Area Air Quality Management District announced on Tuesday.
The Air District will provide $7 million in funds to recoup up to 80 percent of EV charging costs in their Charge! program. The hope is to make the Bay Area’s goals of having 90 percent of all vehicles electric by 2050 that much easier.
Funds can go to any facilities in workspaces, transit parking lots, multi-unit residences and along major roadways. The Air District will specifically seek out projects in multi-unit residential facilities like affordable and below market-rate housing complexes to reach communities with few electronic vehicle resources.
“Adoption of electric vehicles continues to expand at a robust pace,” Jack Broadbent, executive
officer of the Air District, said in a statement. “More charging stations in key locations will quicken the energy transition and make buying an electric vehicle the smarter option for Bay Area residents.”
The application period will be open until March 1, 2022.
Air District representatives will provide more information on the application process at a webinar on Tuesday, Dec. 14 at 10 a.m.
The Government’s idea to put all of its eggs in one basket is foolish.
No one with any life experience knows that diversity is a far safer and beneficial strategy than anything else.
There are numerous viable alternatives to fossil fuels.
Electricity is not the best answer for the future it is one answer to the future.
Forcing a society into an already feeble energy source as its only source of fuel is foolish.
Foolish are the people elected to represent us and those who support them.

Gasoline vehicles and natural gas will work for me till I die, I could care less about future generations and how they will get around and get by.
Crock full of BS!
Do those promoting electric vehicles recognize where electricity comes from? How fossil or nuclear fuel is required to produce enough to accommodate society?
To depend on solar and battery storage as sufficient is yet another step in the left’s plan to destroy the country. And it’s working. Look at gas and heating expenses for America this winter. Then, thank a Democrat.
Only in the Bay Area does a man like Broadbent keep his job. He spends our money poorly, tells us what to do in our own homes, and never stops talking.
Vindex,
People like Broadbent keep their jobs because they are on the Govt/State payroll. They are an arm of the EPA. Should they lose their cushy job, they just need to walk down the hallway to hook up with the EPA for another ride.
The air will never be cleaned enough for these people as they would be out of a big paying job.
Watch that money get eaten up on “studies’ by their Democrat buddies (the payoff), then they’ll ask for more.
When you allow people to spend money that isn’t theirs. This is a job for private business not a government agency.
… key will be where they are located … think they have a plan ? not!
“Bay Area Air District To Fund Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations”
The Air District will provide $7 million in funds…..
but remind me…. who funds the BAAQMD?
There is no such thing as government funded. Everything is taxpayer funded
And where does the Air District obtain the funds for this? Hmmm??
AD
The unstated part of the goal is to remove as many private vehicles from the system as possible per UN Agenda 21 and 2030 and WEF Davos plan
There are no new power plants being constructed in CA to provide the electricity needed to ramp up electric vehicle use and rooftop solar isn’t reliable enough to power the transport sector
Expect electric buses to be seen going up and down the main roads all day long in 2050 at best
Do you like riding the bus?
Vote Marxist 2022
Government these days is about goals and not solutions. It is run by half-thinking people who believe they are doing the right thing. Those electable only do things to look good so as to get re-elected. The whole system is a joke.

I would be willing to bet if you followed the money that there would be kick backs and other money making schemes being run by them. Remember this doesn’t affect them in anyway since there life’s are funded by us that have to deal with the mess they create
Remember that is our tax dollars they are using for this. Are road still look like crap and they are using our gas tax money for charging stations.
JUST SAYING.
I’d rather receive a tax rebate and decrease in tax rates.
Couple of days ago I drove back from San Diego. The two lane highway 5 still has big rigs playing leap frog with each other. One truck took ten minutes to pass the other. You have a hard time making time on that road.
Can someone tell me some of the materials that are needed in huge quantities to manufacture the batteries for these vehicles…and then tell me the country that controls the vast amount of mining operations for these materials all over the globe. I’m also very curious about what is the overwhelming energy source that powers the equipment required for this mining?
BONUS: let me know what happens with “green” components such as batteries, solar panels, and windmill blades once they reach end of life.
@Pete V….Here’s a link with some answers to your questions. It’s from a “tree hugger” lobbying entity in D.C. so take it with a grain of salt but it’s an interesting quick read…. https://earthworks.org/fact-sheet-battery-minerals-for-the-clean-energy-transition/
