Another tax increase, eh? That’s a hard no. We’re already very heavily taxed.

There they go again, blaming the “pandemic.” It was not made worse by the pandemic, it was made worse by the Dems useless mandates, and by some thoughtless dolts that are too lazy to do the right thing. But not to worry, (and I say this with tongue -n-cheek,) plastic straws have been banned, so it’s not as bad as it could have been.
Islands of garbage have been floating in the Pacific for years. They were expected to hit land right about now. The good news is, there are also businesses that collect the plastic. Some of it is/was cast off by cruise ships.
Aaaarrrggghhh! Why does EVERYTHING have to be political? Not a single person can claim to be totally innocent. We’re all effected by the pandemic, so we’re all guilty.
Yeah. All their mandated masks are all over the place. Now it’s a crisis.

Well, good thing 99% of masks are worthless, mandates made it totally worth polluting beaches, sidewalks, trails, schools, etc.

Over the past thirty or so years I have dragged my own kids plus Cub Scouts to Coastal Clean Up events. Based on my anecdotal observation, the beaches and coastlines HAVE gotten way cleaner during that time. I think mostly there are fewer litterbugs than before. Similar to how the Bay Area used to be a big smog bowl and now it’s not, there ARE some environmental success stories.
HOWEVER, the situation we now have with homeless camps in Walnut Creek (the actual creek) and other estuaries seems to be undoing all that. This is not an anti-homeless rant. I know housing and the economy are tough, BELIEVE ME I know. But there is a certain demographic amongst the homeless that make it a personal crusade to remove material from trash cans and dumpsters, and dump it wherever they are camped. I attribute this to 1) mental illness, 2) character defects, and 3) having no idea how to be homeless. Or specifically, having no idea how to camp. You’re doing it wrong. I’m sure there are just as many housed people that don’t have basic hygiene and personal space management skills, but their financial resources gloss over the fact that they are basically uncivilized. Many people are insane but they get to live in houses. We call them hoarders. When hoarders that never learned camping skills find themselves homeless in Walnut Creek, the whole ocean suffers.

The only way to address the mask and rubber glove mandates is, you guessed it, to have yet another mandate. Maybe force everyone to pick up trash 2-4 hours a week? Of course the single-party rulers in Sacramento could always institute a mandate tax to fund their crisis de jour.
I’ve been wondering when someone would begin to address this concern.
As always, too little too late.
There’ll need to be a tax increase to get all of the toxic litter cleaned up.

@JazzMan….”Affected”, not “effected”….just sayin’, grammar is your friend.
Bit of a fluff piece. Wouldn’t put it past CA politicians to introduce knee jerk legislation.
