Weather Service Forecasting Rain For The Bay Area As Soon As Next Tuesday

The National Weather Service is forecasting a return of rainy weather to the Bay Area next week for the first time in a while, but exactly how much and when it will fall is still uncertain.

The weather service is tracking storms in the North Pacific that are expected to come down toward the Bay Area and bring light to moderate rain as early as late Tuesday night, but the heaviest showers are expected sometime next weekend.

Because of the long period since the last rain in the region, the weather service is warning that roads may be especially slippery in the Bay Area once it starts raining due to a buildup of oil, and that there may be possible threats of flooding in areas burned by recent wildfires.

The rain would be much welcomed in the region, all of which the U.S. Drought Monitor considers to be in “extreme” or “exceptional” drought conditions, the two most severe categories of the five in the system.

Someone tell Gavin and his Water Board stooges not to release it all into the Pacific Ocean.

I’m still waiting for the rain that was supposed to happen twice in the last 3 weeks. So you’ll understand that I don’t believe them this time either.
I wish I could be consistently wrong on the job and still keep it.

All right, team. Don’t jinx it by bringing in your patio cushions, PLEASE!

Shoulda Coulda October 16, 2021 - 11:35 AM - 11:35 AM

Thanks Antler-

I learned something new. Those patio cushions
are staying out even if they float away! No jinx
here.

WC October 16, 2021 - 1:00 PM - 1:00 PM

If everyone washes their cars that will about guarantee rain.

Weather forecasters are no better than a gypsy reading a crystal ball.
They can’t predict the weather the next day much less 4 days from now

Tron Muir October 18, 2021 - 2:36 PM - 2:36 PM

I know you couldn’t predict the next time you’ll need to go to the John, but you definitely obviously don’t know how weather prediction even works.

Stewart October 16, 2021 - 12:40 PM - 12:40 PM

I’ll do my part by washing my car.

Antler October 16, 2021 - 4:38 PM - 4:38 PM

Silva and Stewart,

Oh, all right…. I’ll do my part by not parking Brünhilda outside so that the RAIN can be my car wash. DANG, shoulda thought of that a long time ago!

Dorothy October 16, 2021 - 2:40 PM - 2:40 PM

Rain dancers haven’t been working. I’ll believe in rain again when I actually see it make a puddle on my sidewalk.

In the meantime anyone remember an old hobo song that goes like this: “Ain’t gonna rain no more, …, how in the heck can I wash my neck if it ain’t gonna rain no more?”

Antler October 16, 2021 - 7:04 PM - 7:04 PM

Dorothy, I do indeed remember that song! My elderly aunts would sometimes start it going at family picnics.

How about the WW2 era one
“Mares eat oats, and does eat oats, and little lambs eat ivy….” ?
Up until my early 70’s, when I finally saw the written lyrics for that one, I thought we were singing along with another of the wartime nonsense songs meant to cheer us up:
“Dozy doats, and dazy doats, and little amzy divy…..”.
