BART Offering Half-Priced Fares For People Using Clipper In September

BART is offering half-off fares for people using Clipper starting Wednesday and lasting through all of September, according to the transit agency.

The reduced fare, available for those using the Clipper card or smartphone app, is an effort by the transit agency to encourage riders to come back to the system, which is still seeing only about 25 percent of its pre-COVID weekly ridership numbers and 40 percent of its weekend ridership.

Clipper is free when set up using the new Clipper smartphone app at https://www.clippercard.com/ClipperWeb/pay-with-phone or when a card is ordered online and set up for automatic reloading of funds. The card costs $3 if purchased at a station vending machine.

Other transit agencies in the Bay Area are also offering discounts and promotions during September. More information about the programs can be found at https://www.allaboardbayarea.com/info/.

but what about Covid-19 version Delta? What about the vaccine failures, I mean breakthroughs cases?

Surely the Bay Area Health Departments are going to issue an order closing BART to prevent the spread of Covid?!?

JazzMan September 2, 2021 - 10:01 AM - 10:01 AM

What about the Delta, no vaccine failures, breakthrough cases. You mean all the people who have been saved/protected from COVID by the vaccine, or had vastly reduced symptoms? BART is not the cause, it’s the folks who refuse to get vaccinated. 99% of the people suffering from Delta variant are not vaccinated. That’s a fact!

From the CDC “Delta Variant: What We Know About the Science” dated August 21, 2021

“Second, new data began to emerge that the Delta variant was more infectious and was leading to increased transmissibility when compared with other variants, even in some VACCINATED INDIVIDUALS.”

From the CDC “Covid-19 Vaccines Work” Updated August 16, 2021

“While COVID-19 vaccines are working well, some people who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 will still get sick, because no vaccines are 100% effective. These are called vaccine breakthrough” or as I called it vaccine FAILURE.

If you doubt it’s authenticity, just click on my name and you can read it yourself.

Sorry to burst your wee little bubble but the “science” doesn’t support your opinion.

From USA Today dated August 19, 2021 ” No, a vaccine doesn’t make you ‘Superman.’ Breakthrough COVID-19 cases are increasing amid delta variant.”

“Three studies released Wednesday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention underscore the new reality: Breakthrough infections (vaccine FAILURES) are occurring more frequently than previously reported.

Recent data makes clear that protection against mild and moderate disease has decreased over time,” U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy said during a Wednesday briefing. “This is likely due to both waning immunity and the strength of the widespread DELTA variant.””

“There’s no way to know exactly how common breakthrough infections are across the country, for several reasons…and the United States DOESN’T TRACK POST-VACCINATED INFECTIONS in any organized way.

Americans are flying blind.”

You cram a lot of people in an enclosed aluminum tube and you will spread Covid-19 to both vaccinated and unvaccinated. That’s a fact!

From NBC News Dated July 30, 2021 “Breakthrough Covid cases: Data shows how many vaccinated Americans have tested positive”

By Laura Strickler
“WASHINGTON — At least 125,000 fully vaccinated Americans have tested positive for Covid and 1,400 of those have died, according to data collected by NBC News.”

“But the total number of breakthrough cases is likely higher than 125,683, since nine states, including Pennsylvania and Missouri, did not provide any information, while 11, like Covid hotspot Florida, did not provide death and hospitalization totals. Four states gave death and hospitalization numbers, but not the full tally of cases.”

125,683 vaccine failures and 1,400 deaths is definitely low since this research is 44 days old.

From CBS News “Israel was down to a handful of daily COVID cases. Now it’s around 11,000. What happened?” dated September 1, 2021 by Mark Gollom.

Israel, which has one of the highest, if not the highest vaccination rates in the entire world is now reporting over 11,000 new Covid-19 Delta infections in their rolling 7 day average? That is up from double digits, at times almost ZERO new infections.

Shall I go on DisinformationMan?

.
Why even pay a fare? Just jump the gate.

SUCKERS.

Richard September 1, 2021 - 5:46 PM - 5:46 PM

How do you offer half fare to all the bums on the trains riding for free?

unclebrad September 1, 2021 - 6:02 PM - 6:02 PM

Guess they haven’t figured out that it isn’t the fares keeping people away, but the filthy conditions.

Badge1104 September 1, 2021 - 7:17 PM - 7:17 PM

And the scary people onboard, who probably haven’t paid a fare anyway.

PESFG September 1, 2021 - 6:36 PM - 6:36 PM

Wow! How generous of them! With all the money that Bay Area Rolling Failure (BARF) has received for “improvements” and hand-outs received during this pandemic one would think that they will lower fares to help taxpayers but NOOO. This Clipper is like Fastrak. They request people get one of those things with the excuse of being convenient or helpful for users but at the end, it turns out to be an excuse to raise prices. I’m happy I don’t have to take BARF anymore.
Riders shouldn’t be getting limited time deals, it’s an insult. We should be getting good service, every day, because is us who keep them in business.

To Do List September 1, 2021 - 10:55 PM - 10:55 PM

There should be a reparations program for ex-BART riders who have suffered the barbaric experiences of those trains.

Chris September 1, 2021 - 11:00 PM - 11:00 PM

Just rode the Bart for the first time in almost 6 months on Sunday from the San Francisco airport to Lafayette. All but one machine to buy a clipper card at the airport was working and only two fare gates were working. The train compartment that I was on was filthy ad expected. The floor was covered in grime, seats dirty, fast food cups and wrappings were on the floor. When I got off at my stop, several “youths” hopped the gate at the south end as the gate agent was tick tocking away in the booth.

Lari September 2, 2021 - 9:50 AM - 9:50 AM

Sounds about right. My Oakland office has pushed back their previous plan to start bringing people back to the office in the Fall. So, it felt good to put a hold on my auto-load Clipper card thru January. Even then, I plan to continue working mostly remotely. Not having BART in my life 5x a week has been the silver lining of the pandemic!

Bob Kazamakis September 2, 2021 - 3:28 AM - 3:28 AM

Since Bart is the cheap option for various commutes, the price reduction is pointless, even more so with how briefly they’re doing it.
The publicity that comes with doing some stunt like this is likely what they’re after. I mean honestly, when was the last time you even thought about Bart (unless if you’re already riding it)?
As someone who previously had to use it for my commute, I resent them bringing it back to the conscious part of my mind. That foul place is best left forgotten.
