How do you defend his French Laundry incident? Went to a $500+ seat massive lunch at the fanciest crapjoint in town with tons of people where no one at all was wearing masks, while we weren’t allowed to anything. This was back in like June of 2020 or somewhere around there.

Note Gavin Newsom just sold one of his mansions for $5.9 million. Diane Feinstein just sold her Tahoe mansion for $41 million. The number of mansions that high level democrats seem to settle on is three, so its three for Biden, three for Bernie, and three for the cofounder of BLM. Maxine Waters only has one, but if you look at it, wow. She obviously does not live in her own district. When I received the pamphlet for the recall yesterday, I read the pro recall argument from Orrin Heatlie and the con argument from Gavin Newsom.
Orrin stated facts, specifically the French Laundry dinner with lobbyists around Thanksgiving when we were told to not gather with our own family. He also stated 30% increase in homicides in 2020 as well as an alarming increase in energy blackouts.
Newsom blamed the whole recall on the Republican establishment and Trump, not one response to the reasons why the recall came to the ballot.

1. Who would replace him? There are Dems and Repubs in the race, both parties have their “pros” and “cons” but, neither seems to be very competent on their own.

Consider a vote for Assemblyman Kevin Kiley. Harvard and Yale educated, he has worked in the middle of the Sacramento dictatorship and knows where Newsom’s screw ups are and how to repair them.
Further, he won’t take union and corporate donations so nobody owns him like they do Newsom. In other words, he’s not a crook like Newsom. If you look up “payola” in the dictionary you may find a picture of Gavin.
They are no “clean” politician anywhere, regardless of their level of education. Seeno is a well documented crook whose direct actions can negatively impact your everyday life if you live in Concord. One doesn’t cancel out the other.

The real question is why Biden is still president? The House should have impeached and the Senate convicted him last week. Could have done it in two days. But, wait, that would mean………… that would be a scarier thought>
We’re still screwed, the same people behind the scenes are pulling the puppet strings. Even without Joseph Biden, Kamala Harris is still evil, as well as Nancy Pelosi, and the odds of impeaching all three, in one term, would be next to impossible. I think the Repubs should lay low, strategize, focus on taking back the House and Senate in 2022, and then, go for the jugular. In another year, Biden Administration’s list of F$&@-ups will have grown, and well…..we know how the saying goes, “give them enough rope….”.
All that aside, if Newson goes, I’d at least feel that I am breathing fresh air and not smoke, each time the man speaks.

I’m not a Newsom fan, but the Republican field is a bunch of anti-vax and/or anti-mask wackadoodles. Maybe at the next general election we can get a better field of candidates. But for this election I’m voting no on the recall.

JJ2, don’t worry too much about mail in ballots, mostly Democrats mail in. Republicans and anyone with a brain votes in person, and wants ID required to vote. Go sit in and watch at you local polling place. They have to allow anyone to watch the polls, as long as you are not in the way and just observe. You can also ask to see a list of who has already voted. There will be QR codes printed on paper to scan and it will show who cast their votes in real time. It wont show who they vote for.

Absolutely not on the recall. The field of candidates is terrible and leading candidates Elder & Paffrath are clearly not ready to deal with a public health crisis much less any other part of the job. You want Newsom out, vote him out in the next primary.
I don’t see Newsom as a Democrat or Republican. He is someone who has done a very poor job, and if California were run like a company, he would have been fired by the end of his first year.
I support the recall because he’s repeatably demonstrated his ability to piss away our money on pet projects he supports; citizens wishes aren’t considered. Another year in office and he will spend quintuple what the recall will cost. California needs to be run as a business, and to be successful, it can’t afford to keep employees like Newsom.
