Dutch Bros., the Oregon-based chain of drive-thru coffee shops, plans to open a business on Clayton Rd. near Bailey Rd. in Concord.

Dutch Bros. would be located next to Taco Bell, on the property that has been vacant for decades and most recently served as a Christmas tree lot.

The 850-square-foot building would be on the front-end of the property, just a few feet from Clayton Rd.

Plans for the property also include an 8,000-square-foot Kiddie Academy educational child care facility, which would be in the back of the property, further away from Clayton Rd.

The Concord planning commission is having a neighborhood meeting tonight, and the plans will soon be placed in front of the Concord design review board for approval.

Awesome! We have a shortage of places to buy coffee in Concord. This is exactly what we need.

Does that mean Long John Silver’s isn’t going to open there?

They couldn’t secure a reliable supply of Delta Smelt.

I wish it was…we need a fish & Chips place. I heard Mona’s Bar and Grill has good fish but I have not tried it yet.

Mr. Pickwick’s had awesome Fish & Chips, and I loved their mushy peas. It’s just a shame that CC Ole’s had to close for Mr. Pickwick’s to move to Concord.

I have been waiting for Long John Silver since they put the signs decade’s ago. We don’t need another coffee place especially since I don’t drink coffee lol

@Simonpure I’ve gotten the fish and chips at Mona’s on Clayton lots of times and it’s really good! Although I can’t speak on it recently since I haven’t been back to Mona’s since RONA times.

I thinks it’s sad people are so addicted to their damn coffee they can’t live without it. I’m very happy I don’t have to frequent these types of places.
Drink up that overpriced crap suckers..

Call the whambulance Debbie.

Claycord, you just got very lucky.

.
Should those who like coffee pat you on the back for being so smart and disciplined (in your own mind)?
.
There are probably things that you eat, buy, or do that doesn’t suit everyone’s taste.
.
Oh, let me guess…. you claim to be “tolerant” of others. Uh-huh. Sure.

Wow Bdpirate! Why the name calling? Do you need a hug?

You can never have too many drive-through coffee shops on Clayton Road, and they never affect the flow of traffic. And you can trust me* on this.

.
Ta-dah.
.

.
Local NIMBYs would be going nuts if it were Starbucks.
.

From what is on the menu,….it’s more than a coffee shop.
Will check it out, just to sample the tastes.
My go to for coffee is Peet’s Decaf Mocca Java I brew at home,…Yum!

This is awesome!! Used to love going to Dutch Bros when I was in school up north, so excited to have one down here!!

Glad I don’t live in those apartments right behind that. It’s going to be nonstop crazy all the time.

Yay! I’ve never been so happy before in my life (except for the important life events 😉) All you party poopers zip it! For some of us it’s not an addiction is our 10 minutes of me time! 😊

I heard a rumor that instead of masks, they’re going to force their customers to wear wooden shoes.

Is the New Kiddie Academy educational child care facility also drivethru?, ’cause I don’t see any parking.

Hurry up! Their coffee is awesome….had some at their store in Brentwood. Fantastic!

The most important part of the story here is the new day care center. Working parents desperately need reliable day care.

I heard they make their coffee in a Dutch oven. Lol

I’ve always felt that if you have to add Creme and sugar to something you don’t actually like that thing. I was always impressed my dad would take his coffee black no sweeteners at 5:30 am in a regular white mug no lid spilling between his car seats as he hit the freeway to work. Now that’s a real coffee drinker.

I completely agree Schmee I do not like the taste of coffee but like the effect. So I drink mochas, you put enough chocolate in anything it will taste good.

If you build it, they will come.
It’s actually really good coffee. Starbucks needs some competition.

I will have to give it a try once it opens. This was a topic on Claycord some time last year, and plenty here were complimenting the coffee. I saw one in Arizona and thought I’d try it, but the line was longer than I wanted to wait. I am sure I will enjoy it, as I enjoy just about every type of coffee (though not a fan of the brand named after the Pequod’s First Mate).

The Starbucks at Treat/Clayton is a nightmare. I hope they figure out the drive through situation because that is a small lot and Dutch Bros is the In-N-Out of coffee.

I once made the mistake of parking in their parking lot to get my coffee. Never again….

When I was in the Navy, we drank coffee all day long. We could finish a cup right before going to bed and fall asleep instantly. We also drank it hot, strong, and without adding anything to it. The cooks always said that if you wanted cream and sugar, you should have joined the Air Force.

I still drink a lot of coffee, and I still drink it plain. I just can’t afford to buy it by the cup, whether it’s from the coffee shop or the K machines.

… but the morning flow of traffic is on the other side of the road. Is the city going to expand the turnaround by McDonald’s to accommodate more traffic?

Dutch Bros?

Reminds me paint and cigars.

I hope the coffee is better than paint.

The city will put any business anywhere whether it makes any sense or not.

The silver has been delivered, it’s a done deal.

Public input is only the dog and pony show.

I always hit up Dutch Bros when road tripping through Oregon. It’s really good quality, no frills, reasonably priced coffee. It blows Starsucks and Peet’s out of the water. Glad to hear we will be getting one. I encourage even those of you who scoff at the idea of another coffee place to try it if you buy coffee out at all. They usually just offer rive thru, no seating, so you won’t get the unemployed yuppies posting up or free wi-fi all day. This is good news.

There’s a Dutch Bros. in Oroville and it’s always busy. The line looks like a Starbuck’s line. They also have a new Starbuck’s there, but the people are very loyal to the Dutch Bros. they have been there for a long time. It’s good to see there is still loyalty to a long time business

We have 3 Dutch Bros in town. All 3 are always busy.
But all I can say is the “Kicker” is fabulous hot or cold

another company ran out of a broken state by leftie wack jobs. heck part of oregon wants to secede to idaho. then there’s portland which is on fire…

Earl,
They haven’t “run out of” anywhere. They are expanding. There have been Dutch Bros locations in northern NV for over 10 years and the one in Davis has been their longer.
Uneducated people like you are what is wrong with society. You just flap your gums and have no clue what you are flapping about

They are going to build it on the wrong side of the road. It needs to be on the other side to get the commute traffic. That will amount to thousands of dollars per week less for that business units. Starbucks made the same mistake about twenty years ago.
