Thank you for alerting and let everybody know about the fire please be safe

The fire was very small. Scared the crap out of everyone, but held to 9 acres and is fully contained per CalFire Chief Marcucci.

Glad you all are ok & didn’t need to evacuate.

Fred:
is this really the time to frighten these scared citizens with your “locked hydrant” story. I too have a relative and a friend who is a firefighter and works for Contra Costa Water District.
Do you really think that the water company would stomp their foot and say “we will NOT unlock these hydrants” while residents are evacuating their homes with flames chasing them?
Why would you spend the time to post this message of doom and gloom. What good is this to these people, or anybody else.
Didn’t your mother ever teach you the simple rule in life: “If you don’t have anything nice to say, then don’t say anything at all.”
I doubt that they’re on Claycord reading these comments at this time, but to get on here with a stark post that they’re not going to have enough water, what were you thinking? Maybe they have family members and friends praying for them, exactly who was your post aimed at?
Not once did you even have a kind word in hopes that they will be okay. How about you to say to them…. Something like this:
To all of the residents in the Morgan Territory and the Finley Road areas, please know that we are all hoping you are safe, in a safe place and that the brave firefighters will get this fire under control so you can all return to your homes. Our prayers and hearts are with these citizens at this moment.

According to the Coco Sheriff Dept. website. The evacuation warning for Morgan Territory and Finley road has been cancelled https://www.cocosheriff.org/disaster-preparedness/community-warning-system

P.S. Fred, your Uncle is ABSOLUTELY CORRECT.

It’s because of water theft, and fire hydrants are an easy target.
It’s been rampant in SoCal, mostly because of the demand from illegal pot farms. For example, look at this:
https://www.desertsun.com/story/news/2021/07/20/thieves-stealing-californias-water-run-illegal-marijuana-farms/8029730002/
However, it’s happening in NorCal as well. And in SoCal local authorities are not just locking hydrants – they are removing most of them.

Yes. Newsom drained our reservoirs, so now we have water theft.

Living in California. This is what you get. You vote for Democratic politicians who continue to mismanage wildlife and our forests and this is what you get. You get what you vote for.

American Citizen, I assume by the name you identify yourself with, you are a patriotic and proud American. Nothing wrong with that, however one thing I always liked about the American people they were first on the scene when someone needed help, such as Haiti after the earthquake and others. The same goes on a local level, neighbors look out for each other and offer help when needed in the community. As mentioned by another poster, how about wishing the people affected by the fire well.

e.bunners,
Thank you for injecting some silliness into this discussion.
