The “Water Cooler” is a feature on Claycord.com where we ask you a question or provide a topic, and you talk about it.
The “Water Cooler” will be up Monday-Friday at noon.
Today’s question:
QUESTION: If someone asked you to recommend a good comedy movie, what would you tell them to watch?
Talk about it….
Kingdom of Heaven because they screwed up the history so bad it became a comedy.
Animal House hands down
Seriously PC, but how about the “Airplane-X” series?

History of the World, Part I
Every year at Thanksgiving I watch Planes, Trains and Automobiles….a close second would be It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad world!
Yes, Mad, Mad, Mad , Mad World !
Caddyshack
Animal House
Stripes
Dumb and dumber.
Any of National Lampoon’s Vacation movies, Uncle Buck, and Trading Places are pretty funny. My all time favorites are My Cousin Vinny, Home Alone, and It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad, World.
For dark comedy, The War Of The Roses, Falling Down, God Bless America, Fargo, and Pulp Fiction.
Dawg, I agree with dark comedy War of the Roses and Fargo, and I would add Dr. Strangelove.
Along with the ones already mentioned, for a dark comedy a funny one is “Freeway” with Reese Witherspoon, Kieffer Sutherland and Brook Shields. Another funny dark comedy is “Spun” with Mickey Rourke, Deborah Harry.
History of the World part 1…Let the art flow over you.
It will make the “bring me a small lyre” meme with Anthony Fauci make sense if you’ve seen that one. 😂

Mel Brooks Blazing Saddles the uncut original version! It’s not PC with racial slurs at all and it’s great.
Flesh Gordon
Harold and Maude
Or any comedy movie with the great Ruth Gordon.
Ruth Gordon WHERE’S PAPA
Not a movie, but a TV program–Mary Tyler Moore, “Peanuts the Clown”
Chuckles the Clown?
Agree and if we are talking about TV episode, I would add Mary Tyler Moore and Carl Reiner, from the Dick Van Dyke show, where she tells a tv audience that Allan Brady is bald. Also the Barney Miller episode where several of the staff eat hash brownies, with a hilarious outcome, especially Jack Soo, and Ron Glass.
TV shows? Oh, here’s another idea… why don’t we talk about funny commercials too?
Here’s why:
“QUESTION: If someone asked you to recommend a good comedy movie, what would you tell them to watch?”
(I know I’m being an AH but I’m cranky today).
Young Frankenstein and Christmas Story (with Ralphy and his Dad, Darron McGovern!!
Has anyone else been getting a warning before submitting your posts? I’ve been having to answer to: ” This is not secure, do you still want to submit?”
What gives with this??
I get the warning too, but it’s sporadic. It has something to do with the security settings in my browser, (I use Firefox.) It’s supposed to warn if a site is not https, which means hypertext transfer protocol secure. If the s is missing on a website’s address, then it’s not secure, but this site is https, so I don’t know why I’m getting the warning either.
All comedy has been banned by the PC Police as it makes fun of someone or something that is protected , or about to be protected.
If you laugh you loose.
PC police can’t do crap with what I watch, my kids and my grandkids. Anything that’s comedy about race and religion is tops! Aunt ever gonna hide it, erase it or outlaw it. Don’t like it go cry in your grits.
Is that you Uncle Leo?
Instead of movie titles, I suggest searching Netflix or Hulu, or whatever you use to watch movies, for these actors in them. If these guys are in the movie, it’s sure to make you laugh!!! 🙂
1. Mel Brooks (funniest movie maker ever)
2. Steve Martin
3. Bette Midler
4. Gene Wilder
5. Martin Short
6. Eddie Murphy
7. Tina Fey
8. Bill Murray
9. Simon Pegg
10. Kevin Smith
Peter Sellers didn’t even make the top ten?!
@Dana,
What? No Robin? 😭😭
I’ve been getting them off and on over the last week or so. I’m getting a little popup one right now that says
“This form is not secure. Autofill has been turned off.”
Then when I tap the Claycord.com “Submit,” I get a page that says
“The information you’re about to submit is not secure. Because this form is being submitted using a connection that’s not secure, your information will be visible to others.”
Then there are two buttons, “Submit” or “Go Back.”
The page comes and goes and it does not consistently show up, so it’s hard to determine what is going on and what information they are talking about, the comment or other associated computer addresses, etc.
Been getting that same message as well.
Did this happen a few months ago?
Thanks Dawg for the explanation. Glad to hear I’m not the only one!!
“The Producers” Original with Zero and Gene Wilder
I’ll second “The Producers”!
Arthur 1 & 2 with Dudley Moore and Liza Minelli. Too funny. Lampoons Christmas Vacation and My Cousin Vinny.
LOLOL! All of these are sooooo funny! But my favorite, hands down, is Blazing Saddles!! Followed by Space Balls, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, and the House Sitter (either version). For those in the know, Steve Martin’s LA Story is also a must see!
Idiocracy
Robin Hood: Men in Tights
Hudson Hawk
Superfast!
I forgot all about Robin Hood: Men in Tights. The scene where the Sheriff slaps Robin’s face with the leather glove… I still use that one.
Best comedy pre-PC clown world: As Good as It Gets (1997)
Receptionist: How do you write women so well?
Melvin Udall: I think of a man, and I take away reason and accountability.
Could they write that today? I think not!
Also contains the best compliment a man could ever give a woman.
This is one of my favorite films. More of a romantic comedy/drama. The chemistry among Jack, Helen Hunt, and Greg Kinnear was perfect.
The Blues Brothers (the original from 1980)
The Gods Must Be Crazy
Bird Cage
City Slickers
So many good suggestions from you all…!
My contributions, for consideration:
My Cousin Vinny
Animal Crackers
Duck Soup
Slap Shot
Porky’s (has some absolutely hilarious scenes – the wanted poster for one)
Arsenic and Old Lace
Father Goose
I’d recommend “J-Men Forever!” in fact I’ll deliver the entire movie to you Free! https://tinyurl.com/teuxaxxj
Outrageous Fortune

Christmas Story
Red & Red 2
“Some like it Hot” Jack Lemmon, Tony Curtis, Marilyn Monroe.
If I had to choose only one, it would be Airplane.
Harvey
Kind Hearts and Coronets

Harvey is a movie that if you are feeling down, you watch and leave feeling at some sort of peace. So much to feel good about with that one!
The Blues Brothers
Back to School
Airplane
Dont go near the water
Some Like it Hot
Somthing about Mary
“Psycho Beach Party” is hysterically funny too, you’d have to buy it or rent it…. but trailers are free!

History of the World, Part 1
In response to the comment about security of this site, the most commonly used means to secure internet traffic is to encrypt the message from your computer to the web site so that no one without the key can read the message as it passes through multiple devices on the internet. Claycord does not use encryption of the messages in transit. I see a “Not Secure” notice in by browser window.
However as anyone can visit and read any posted message, the only risk would if you post a message that was prevented from posting by Claycord. It is possible someone could discover that message. But the risk to the creator of that message is rather low, as they expected it to be on a public site.
American Dreamer
Good Bye Girl
I loved the “Goodbye Girl” it has a clever dialog, just didn’t think of it as a comedy movie. Sleeper was funny, some of the prediction has come true, especially the ones about food.
