Can the General Manager hear a middle finger, or does he need a sign-language interpreter?

Please reference topic below regarding comedy.

Nothing near us. Concord has, and never will matter. They just want our tax money while they spend the money going to other places.
When I did ride BART the going home train to Concord was the one they skipped all the time. This overcrowded the train when one did come and it was always the Concord train they picked to skip.

Is it wrong to wish that the relaunch could be on a Jeff Bezos rocket that looks like a giant _ _ _ _ ?

SB August 9, 2021 - 3:57 PM - 3:57 PM

It figures that there are no Contra Costa stations are on the schedule. This has been their pattern for decades. We should pull out of BART and charge a toll to enter Contra Costa at the Caldecott Tunnel.

SF oh August 9, 2021 - 4:03 PM - 4:03 PM

Took Bart last week to the airport. The same day they, supposedly, went back to their regular schedule. Train to SF was a half hour late due to “police activity” someplace. Then we stopped for about twenty minutes near Walnut Creek after a passenger pressed a call button about a “situation” onboard. A homeless guy was passed out and taking up two seats behind us. A woman at the front of the car was trying on clothes. I assumed the clothes were stolen since she was taking them out of a bag and looking at them like she was seeing them – and trying them on – for the first time. Apparently when going thru tunnels the Bart windows make good mirrors. After my brief vacation, I used Bart to get back from the airport. This time a homeless guy had set up a full-on camp at the end of the train. A bike, a tarp, a flag and various other crap to make it homey. Hey Bart GM, how many times do you need to “listen” before you hear the truth. Bart needs security. Bart needs to be cleaned up. Bart stations need the same. We’re not asking for the world here. It’s pretty basic.

Our friends flew in to SFO to come visit us and they took Bart out to our home.. they never mentioned much until his time for them to go back home and I scheduled to drive them to Bart… they said “oh no please”…”we’ve already booked a limousine back to the airport”. Seems on their Bart trip from the airport to Concord they were scared to death by these roaming youths that go car to car looking everyone in their possessions over as if they’re going to decide who to rob.
I’ve actually experienced the same but have never said anything because surely I would be labeled as prejudice or racist.

The following is sad:
A person of my acquaintance moved to New York City last week and has been walking around and riding the Subway. He reports that the streets have very few homeless and that he has seen no homeless encampments. He says that the subway is safe and that it is extremely difficult to evade paying the fare. He says it’s not like BART, with its urine-soaked seats. On BART, if you’re not riding at commute times, you might be hassled by aggressive panhandlers and, if it’s 10 at night, say, you can be robbed at knife-point. He’s starting to think that, maybe, the Bay Area isn’t the best place in the country.
Why can’t we change BART to be as safe as the New York Subway?

Badge1104 August 9, 2021 - 7:08 PM - 7:08 PM

Because the Bay Area is even crazier liberal. They think Bart has a duty to let the homeless ride free to keep him out of the cold / heat & entertain the bums. They also think that inner city youth who are supposedly poor should be able to just ride Bart for free and harass the passengers, by roaming car to car to car giving people hard looks and looking over your possessions.

It’s a “Listening Tour”, not a “Doing Tour”.
Designed to improve BART’s lousy image among riders and potential riders, not fix the problems.

SB August 9, 2021 - 10:01 PM - 10:01 PM

The problem with BART as a system outside of our current stupid politics is that it is trying to be two systems. First, an urban metro, which is why they want to three-door cars. Second, a suburban commuter train, which is why those of us in Contra Costa want a seat because standing for an hour hurts. BART is giving us standing room only when they promised seats, and charging high prices. They need to redesign it. The problem is the MTC is charging those of us who need bridges and funding projects for those who don’t. There is neither equity or equality in the regional transport plan, which is why I am in favor of removing our, Contra Costa’s, portion of BART and charging a tool for 24 east into our county. We can still run a Contra Costa Rapid Transit in our existing system, and expand it as we have need. We don’t need a BART for SF, Oakland, and Berkeley.

Joe August 9, 2021 - 10:47 PM - 10:47 PM

Listen to this….

Stop the blatant jumping of the gates. Saturday an Agent watched a guy open the gate and walk through, he just shook his head.

It’s the freeloaders making it undesirable so the paying customers to ride.

Oh, and in a time when you should be increasing the level of general service, you choose to roll new trains with less seating….. stupid decision.
We don’t want less seats, we want more trains.

Joe

Chris August 9, 2021 - 10:58 PM - 10:58 PM

1.) Clean the trains
2.) Keep the homeless off
3.) Stop the gate jumpers
4.) Greater Police presence (not sitting in cars in the covered parking garages).
The GM will likely receive an ear full. He’ll listen and politely smile in agreement then return to HQ and all will be forgotten the following day.

To Do List August 9, 2021 - 11:01 PM - 11:01 PM

BART seems to be planning for a Soylent Green future based on the standing room only cars, expanding the system east and south to encourage urban sprawl, the addition of a third tunnel planned from Oakland to SF and their decision to build transit villages. You might tell them your opinions, but to them you are just a future cracker.

Cellophane August 10, 2021 - 7:47 AM - 7:47 AM

It’s an elusion of public input.

Much like the city council does when inviting public input to a decision already paid for.

Or, like a nicely decorated frosting on a cardboard box.

sam malone August 10, 2021 - 7:47 AM - 7:47 AM

Yet another waste of money Listening Tour, yeah right. I had to ride BART to work starting in the mid 70’s to get to work in SF. It has become the robbery, homeless hotel that it is because of the liberalism and the entitlement crowd. With Covid-19 that iis the icing on the cake. No one in their right mind rides BART. It is unclean, unsafe, overpriced for those of us who do not cheat the system and pay the fare and a total fiasco. The Board of DIrectors as usual gets paid a huge salary and does nothing. Get over yourselves. Everything in California is a joke and we better get back on track NOW. RECALL NEWSOME. He is spending money like it is going out of style so the cost of the recall is well worth it.

WC---Creeker August 10, 2021 - 9:22 AM - 9:22 AM

Secure the system, make it impossible for people to get on without paying. The people sleeping, roaming, stealing are all non-paying people. Put a BART cop or two at every station where most people jump the gates. Afterward, get some better security mechanisms. Listen, then act.
