For days they knew a small town was in danger of burning down. If they had the equipment and material they could have covered the town with retardent. Instead of having the equipment they spent their money on social program giveaways. The town burned down to the ground.
Unfortunately two small towns were burned in the past two days, Greenville and then Canyondam. Both near Lake Almanor.
It looks like these won’t be the last towns demolished by this fire

EVERY Summer, 2020 was bad, 2021 even worse.
Another newsom Press Conference on CA Fires and two days later
CA’s newest tradition, newsom’s Summer of Smoke, arrives
Any of this sound familiar ?
“On Gavin Newsom’s first full day in office, Jan. 8, 2019, the newly elected governor stood before the cameras, clad in jeans and sneakers and surrounded by emergency responders, and declared war on wildfires.
“Everybody has had enough,” the governor said, announcing he’d signed a sweeping executive order overhauling the state’s approach to wildfire prevention.” ….
Headline on this story reads,
‘Newsom Misled The Public About Wildfire Prevention Efforts Ahead Of Worst Fire Season On Record’
“An investigation from CapRadio and NPR’s California Newsroom found the governor has misrepresented his accomplishments and even disinvested in wildfire prevention. The investigation found Newsom overstated, by an astounding 690%, the number of acres treated with fuel breaks and prescribed burns in the very forestry projects he said needed to be prioritized to protect the state’s most vulnerable communities. Newsom has claimed that 35 “priority projects” carried out as a result of his executive order resulted in fire prevention work on 90,000 acres. But the state’s own data show the actual number of acres worked on for those “priority projects” is 11,399.
Overall, California’s response has faltered under Newsom. After an initial jump during his first year in office, data obtained by CapRadio and NPR’s California Newsroom show Cal Fire’s fuel reduction output dropped by half in 2020, to levels below Gov. Jerry Brown’s final year in office. At the same time, Newsom slashed roughly $150 million from Cal Fire’s wildfire prevention budget.” …
“Overall, the data show Cal Fire treated 64,000 acres in 2019,
but only 32,000 acres in 2020
and 24,000 acres through Memorial Day this year.”
‘Wildfires in California this year have scorched 3 times more land than in the same period of last year’s record season’

Sept. 2020, ‘As fires rage across the West, White Mountain Apache forests show a balance of tradition, economy’ …
“Some tribal stewards point to the fires engulfing millions of acres in California, where fire suppression and protecting timber stands have been a staple of federal and state public lands policies, as proof of what can happen in the absence of traditional practices.”

“… tribal forest manager for the White Mountain Apache Tribe, said forest-management strategies unhindered by environmental litigation and drawn-out federal government processes helped check the wildfire here.
For decades, the tribe has cleared young trees, logged larger trees and burned underbrush to replicate the natural burn-and-growth cycle of the Ponderosa pine forest. Brooks said that made it easy for firefighters to create a backfire here to deprive the approaching Wallow Fire of fuel.”

My backyard Purple Air Sensor in south PH read 34 at 9:30 am. Now at 4:15 pm air quality is 220. The spike in the air quality graph today is amazing, and not in a good way. Ash is also falling from the sky.
PurpleAir is the best site for checking the AQ in your immediate neighborhood as well as across the state/nation. I used it extensively last year and found it to be the most accurate site.

The Democrats will pour lots of money onto the ‘save Gavin fire’. They will use smoke, mirrors, ballot harvesting, pink fire retardant, electric shock treatment (but not during PG&E’s peak demand hours of 4-9pm) to try to save Governor hair gel.
All this begs the question: now that California is banning bacon, will there will be less pork in Sacramento in the months to come?
Larry Elder would veto the porcine bills that would soon cross his desk–however, the left-wing majority in California’s legislature would override many of the bills he vetos.
So, while you view the Smoke & Fire map, ask yourself, will you even be able to buy bacon to fry in California’s woke, Marxist future?
I guess you anticipated Bloomberg Businessweek’s new story “To Fight Wildfires, California Turns to a Family With a Fleet of $8,000-an-Hour Helicopters.” Gavin will hire Chinooks. I could not make this up if I tried. Use “Bloomberg” and the first few keywords and read for yourself.
Helicopters are useless on forest fires. They need a fleet of 747s and they need to hit the fires early. They need a early detection system. If not these fires will continue until the state burns down.
In short, it’s just a law that guarantees more humane conditions for animals.
And what’s more, the measure was pretty popular. In November 2018, 62.66 percent of California residents voted yes to Prop 12, saying that the measures outlined above should be enforced.
So really, it has NOTHING TO DO WITH BANNING BACON or any other beloved meat products. It’s all about ensuring that the meat Californians consume comes from humane farms and responsibly-raised animals who have had enough room to live and breathe.
@Baloo. Are you vegan? Maybe it’s time to try becoming one. Either that or hoard pork products.

Like the lies of the CDC and Fauci the lies of California’s fires is larger. While the state throws money after money on social programs they do nothing to purchase the equipment to fight fires effectively. Flames go up hundreds of feet through the trees and they give firefighters hoes. Firefighters are doing their best. They work under miserable conditions but it is not getting the job done. What Cal Fire and the Forest Service is doing is equal to what Biden is doing on our Southern Border.
Oh, please

We are currently a couple of states away and getting the smoke from these wildfires… it is sad what liberals decide to do without our hard-earned money… or the money from those who actually pay taxes instead of just take them.

Dixie fire now the largest in CA history… do we hear anything from Newsom going to other states, etc trying to get additional resources? …… I’m only hearing crickets..
Just because you haven’t heard, doesn’t make it so. We have firefighters from several different states up here right now. Also law enforcement from all over California to help with the evacuations and road closures.
Newsom has been in contact with the Federal government since the fire first got out of control (2nd or 3rd day) and LaMalfa has also finally stepped up (after two weeks, thanks Doug.)
The fire got out of control because of US Forest Service’s practice of letting fires burn uncontrolled if structures are not threatened. The Dixie Fire has finally made USFS realize that this is a STUPID practice and they won’t do this anymore.
Blaming Newsom does zero good because this fire is a result of USFS policies.
If you cannot help us up here, please stop spreading misinformation, we beg of you. I showed some neighbors the comments here and folks were appalled that you folks in the flatlands would politicize our tragedy.
PS: everyone up here is Republican but we aren’t blaming the WRONG people. Sheesh.
@old
Yeah we have some firefighters from other states. Yeah, we even have LE from across the state to help with evacuations.
But Newsom has failed the fire Departments and the people of California who live there. He lied about much area he has addressed. Yes this is USFS land, but shouldn’t he be making sure the constituents or this once great state are protected? This fire is nothing new. We have done this before. Yet, Newsom still has done nothing to protect his people. Newsome failed to plan to protect this state. End of statement.
USFS is now PUBLICLY reevaluating their fire fighting plans. But do you really understand what that means, or are you just spouting information on hear that your heard on some radio ….
Maybe if Newsom allowed for trees to be cut back, maybe if we did not build a town surrounded by fuel loads, maybe if we provided our fire fighters the tools (planes that carry retardant instead of shiny new helicopters) to fight a fire, maybe if he put as much effort into protecting/fighting for this state as he does his hair products, we would be in better shape.
My point in all to this, both Newsome and the USFS are to be blamed. BOTH.

Here’s what I don’t understand. Fire personnel have been screaming for the older 747s and the MD-11s since they are easy to convert into carrying large amounts of fire retardants. There are many just sitting around in the Nevada desert that could be purchased for pennies on the dollar. However, the Newsom administration bought expensive brand new helicopters. Look, I get that those helicopters can go into the steep terrains quickly but their capacity to carry the much-needed water/fire retardants are minimal compared to those heavy tankers. Are there any journalists out there that might want to see who and how this helicopter contracted was awarded? Follow the 💰.
I was down at the Apple store in WC about 20 min. ago, my eyes were burning, much more smoke in WC than Concord at that time.
… was in Pacheco an hour ago – really smoky there too
