The casedemic continues.

Best way not to get Covid?
Don’t get tested.

Sam July 29, 2021 - 4:07 PM - 4:07 PM

Lol exactly

Best way to not die from COVID?
Don’t die.

How do people not see this? Denialism?

Jay Roller July 29, 2021 - 7:15 PM - 7:15 PM

Ding ding ding we have a winner here folks! Glad I’m not alone here guys! Plandemic scamdemic, all day, everyday!

Garbear July 29, 2021 - 7:48 PM - 7:48 PM

Exactly what I was going to post. If people would stop getting tested we would stop having cases.

lol July 29, 2021 - 2:16 PM - 2:16 PM

Just got over COVID. It was kinda fun tbh

chuckie the troll July 29, 2021 - 2:20 PM - 2:20 PM

So .0001145 of the population of Contra Costa is in the hospital with Covid and people want to re-mask, close things down again, etc…? I bet that many people are in the hospital with heart problems or cancer, and yet we don’t close down anything for that (tanning booths, BBQ, alcohol, etc…).

Don’t get me wrong, I support vaccinations and my family got ours. But at some point people have to be responsible for their decisions, and let the rest of us make OUR decisions.

Chuq July 29, 2021 - 3:56 PM - 3:56 PM

I think it only becomes a problem of there aren’t enough beds in hospitals. I don’t know the number of cases hospitals can comfortably accommodate, (it’s been a while since I’ve seen one of those “available beds” posts here). If new cases who need to be hospitalized fill up all the beds it is a problem for any people who need them because of car accidents, heart attacks, etc. I don’t think we ever got to the point of turning people away in Contra Costa but I do think it happened in LA.

If we don’t get to that point, I, a vaccinated person, don’t really care if the unvaccinated people keep walking around without masks.

A friend’s sister who refused to get the pandemic was just hospitalized with COVID and I did think “But I thought you said it’s no big deal? Why do you need an oxygen tank if it’s no big deal?”

xj July 29, 2021 - 9:59 PM - 9:59 PM

So, since the start of this wonderful Kung-Flu, in CoCoCo, 830 people have died. Out of 1,153,526 in the County, that is a total of….
0.071953%!!! Oh my! What are your chances of actually dying of Covid?

Only 2 people 30 or younger have died. Nobody under 12. Roughly 40% of those died in Long Term Care Facilites.

2,871 are currently infected in the County. That is 0.24889% of the population. OH MY!!! What are your chances of running into someone with Covid now?

I choose not to live in fear.

Roberta August 2, 2021 - 12:22 AM - 12:22 AM

That’s where you are mistaken @Chuckie the Troll. There are not the same number of people in hospital who have heart problems, cancer, etc. The beds reserved for them are taken over by people sick with COVID. Unfortunately Health Departments around the country, including our own here in Contra Costa, have failed to adequately explain why shut downs of the economy were or are necessary.

The “economy” draws people together because of how we shop, dine-out, attend different types of events (sports, movies, theater, etc.). That closeness has caused at least 1 out of every 15 people in the county to catch COVID, according to the County’s COVID website. Currently there are 3,747 active cases, with 137 in the hospital and 37 in the ICU. The Health department used to list the number of hospitals beds available overall and the number of beds left in the ICU. They no longer seem to do that, so we cannot see in real time just how many beds are available for people other than those with COVID.

My point is that people with severe COVID are taking up the beds that those who are suffering from something other than COVID would normally take. People who suffer heart attacks, or strokes, or are in a car accident are out of luck. There’s no room for them. And that’s why the Health Department issues closure orders to those business where people love to congregate. It is where COVID begins its spread.

To recap, closure is based on the number of hospitals beds available within the County, and the number of people sick with COVID requiring hospitalization. So while it appears a small fraction of people actually catch COVID and an even smaller fraction requires hospitalization or dies from it, the reality is that fraction is large enough to over run our hospitals. And that is what the Health Dept is trying to avoid by closing those places where people are found.

Frustrated July 29, 2021 - 2:24 PM - 2:24 PM

Sorry to see this… be safe!

The Observer July 29, 2021 - 2:40 PM - 2:40 PM

It looks like some people are starting to see that Covid is a serious threat. First shots given on Monday and Tuesday averaged about 1500. Two weeks ago it was just under 1000 first shots.

JMO July 29, 2021 - 2:41 PM - 2:41 PM

President Biden is calling on state, territorial, and local governments to provide $100 payments to incentivize Americans to receive the COVID vaccine. How about rewarding the people that have gotten the vaccine instead of the people who have not.

this_that July 29, 2021 - 3:34 PM - 3:34 PM

Remember the big guy gets 10%. You’ll get $90.

Oh, please July 29, 2021 - 3:35 PM - 3:35 PM

How about he stops giving away our money for this stupidity?

The Observer July 29, 2021 - 3:47 PM - 3:47 PM

It was reward enough for me to not get infected by Covid-19, and not even have to worry about it. Unfortunately, the offer of cash to get vaccinated may well harden the attitude of the anti-vaxxers determined to not get the shots..

Tsa July 29, 2021 - 4:34 PM - 4:34 PM

Politicians take bribes, now they’re giving them….

Yoyo Hop July 29, 2021 - 4:48 PM - 4:48 PM

Why would you need a vaccine if you’ve already been diagnosed with Covid and recovered? Is it an implicit admission that their tests aren’t accurate?

And if you haven’t got Covid by now, why should you worry it?

Oh, please July 29, 2021 - 7:07 PM - 7:07 PM

Ah, Observer. You have bought into this, I see. You can for sure still get COVID.

Cyn July 29, 2021 - 8:17 PM - 8:17 PM

@The Observer
The folks I know who have not gotten this vaccine are not anti-vaxxers, as you put it. They’re in their 20’s, healthy, and choose not to put the poison in their bodies; and if I was in my 20’s, I surely wouldn’t either. It’s not just the anti-vaxxers who aren’t getting the shot(s).

nytemuvr July 29, 2021 - 9:02 PM - 9:02 PM

@Cyn….I bet you were a little spitfire in your 20s.

Ilovepopcorn July 29, 2021 - 10:07 PM - 10:07 PM

The vaccinated have their reward! PEACE OF MIND

Sam July 30, 2021 - 12:09 PM - 12:09 PM

@popcorn

No they don’t. The little peace of mind you thought you had is being systematically ripped away from you with the ever changing narrative. This is psychological warfare. You will never have peace of mind again.

RecallNewsome July 29, 2021 - 2:44 PM - 2:44 PM

Those numbers are awesome! We did it! Time for everyone to get back to their life and kids to actually go to school. Yay!

Pat July 29, 2021 - 2:47 PM - 2:47 PM

…and continuing to spread like wildfire, causing more severe illness and deaths as well as greatly affecting our getting back to normal thanks to the foolish non-vaccinated.

The Fearless Spectator July 29, 2021 - 4:50 PM - 4:50 PM

All those illegals jumping the border need to be vaccinated before they are bused and flown all over the country. We may be experiencing a new “border variant”.

Cyn July 29, 2021 - 8:20 PM - 8:20 PM

Wow, Pat…that sure was a lot of BS in just one sentence.

OverWhelmed July 29, 2021 - 2:54 PM - 2:54 PM

So when do we go on lock down again? I just want to make sure i have toilet paper and water this time

A-Block July 29, 2021 - 2:55 PM - 2:55 PM

Yea, it’s here. #delta

CovidWeary July 29, 2021 - 3:40 PM - 3:40 PM

lol @#delta

Sam July 29, 2021 - 2:59 PM - 2:59 PM

Lol the casedemic HOAX continues. I’m just glad they are using the debunked PCR tests to bring us this fake problem. It just wouldn’t be the same without it.

CovidWeary July 29, 2021 - 3:17 PM - 3:17 PM

Back to this again…?

Exit 12A July 29, 2021 - 3:28 PM - 3:28 PM

Getting the vaccine is a choice. I’m not responsible for those who do not.
.
Screw the upcoming masks-for-all mandates.

Ricardoh July 29, 2021 - 3:35 PM - 3:35 PM

Since I live in the Creek I check the data from the Creek. At first a good number of them died in LTCF but that stopped. Twenty people outside of LTCF have died from the Chinese Virus in the Creek since it started and that number hasn’t changed in months. What is not known is the health condition of the twenty that died before they got the virus.

Oh, please July 29, 2021 - 7:07 PM - 7:07 PM

We do know. They all had underlying conditions.

Sancho Panza July 29, 2021 - 4:06 PM - 4:06 PM

This increase can most certainly be due to the outbreaks in detention centers, which as of Tuesday was 23 but expected to grow…

Good news! The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and Department of Justice are publishing guidance on how “long COVID” can be a disability under the ADA, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act.
https://www.hhs.gov/about/news/2021/07/26/hhs-doj-issue-guidance-on-long-covid-and-disability-rights.html

Get your disability claim in early…

Bad Nombre July 29, 2021 - 5:34 PM - 5:34 PM

$100 to get vaccinated or regular disability payments not to get vaccinated. Hmm …

Dr. Jellyfinger July 29, 2021 - 8:20 PM - 8:20 PM

I had my 2 shots…. do I get $100 ?
Maybe we shoulda held out for more?

The Observer July 29, 2021 - 10:04 PM - 10:04 PM

@Yoyohop This claim was debunked in an article on today’s USA TODAY site.

Roz July 29, 2021 - 4:06 PM - 4:06 PM

Of the “New” Covid Cases and Hospitalizations, a fair question would be, how many of them are unvaccinated OR vaccinated and is the vaccine doing it’s job,….keeping people out of the hospital?

The Observer July 29, 2021 - 5:35 PM - 5:35 PM

The CDC Director recently reported that 97% of the people entering the hospital with severe Covid are unvaccinated. Since about half of eligible US residents have been vaccinated, it should be obvious that vaccinated people have a low risk of having to be hospitalized, even if they get a breakthrough infection.

Roz July 29, 2021 - 7:25 PM - 7:25 PM

@ The Observer~
Thank You for answering my question with data I couldn’t find.

Yoyohop July 29, 2021 - 8:51 PM - 8:51 PM

-Observer. The majority of new Covid deaths are actually from the fully vaccinated in the UK. What do you think explains the vast difference between there and the US?

Wouldn’t you expect all those unvaccinated that are sick to gain immunity and thus not require a vaccine?

Roz July 30, 2021 - 7:02 AM - 7:02 AM

@Yoyohop~
If You come back to this post, could You please let me know where I can find the info You shared about the UK?
Thanks

Yoyo Hop July 30, 2021 - 9:29 AM - 9:29 AM

-Roz – This story was covered by many but the info is derived from the UK government. Various amounts of “spin” have been placed on this info depending on who’s version you read.

The pro-vaccine argument seems to be: That while vaccines save lives, they can’t prevent the elderly from dying of Covid. Which oddly enough is what reasonable people have been saying about this “pandemic” from the beginning, given that it effects mostly the elderly and those with numerous co-morbidities.

“However, the 20-fold decrease in risk afforded by the vaccine isn’t enough to offset the 32-fold increase in underlying risk of death of an 70-year-old over a 35-year-old.”

Anon July 29, 2021 - 4:31 PM - 4:31 PM

You SISSIES….CANNOT cower-in-place and hide from a “virus”.
Time to get a clue & boost your defenses because like ALL others colds & flu = they MUST run their course. The “vaccine” (is not a vaccine BTW) has proven to be a disaster.

BTW ~ Stop with the whole “anti-vaxxers” slurs because you sound like a bunch of fools. Some of us are Ex-Vaxxers. Fool me once…..

Snakekeeper July 29, 2021 - 5:46 PM - 5:46 PM

It is not a cold
It is not the flu
Science isn’t hard to figure out if you don’t listen TV or Republicans. If this was handled right from the beginning we would not be in such a mess.

Janus July 29, 2021 - 6:15 PM - 6:15 PM

@ Snakekeeper

You mean like when then Democratic Senator Kamala Harris said, ‘If Donald Trump Tells Us To Take It, I’m Not Taking It” referring to a Covid-19 vaccine.

Like that?

Snakekeeper July 29, 2021 - 7:14 PM - 7:14 PM

Say what you want about the Dems it doesn’t bother me. At least they have a clue on what you should do to help control what is going on.
The Republicans are just following what ever garbage trump those up without question because he is the smartest ever!

Janus July 29, 2021 - 9:15 PM - 9:15 PM

Say what you want about the Republicans it doesn’t bother me either.

The Democrats used this as a political football just as much as the Republicans did and no one is going to confuse Joey for a Rhodes Scholar!

Tas July 29, 2021 - 9:21 PM - 9:21 PM

You need to actually use your brain and try again.

JMO July 29, 2021 - 5:53 PM - 5:53 PM

The Spanish Flu in 1918 lasted just over two years.

Dr. Jellyfinger July 29, 2021 - 8:26 PM - 8:26 PM

Alot less people, less crowds…. no jet travel around the world.

Yoyohop July 29, 2021 - 8:41 PM - 8:41 PM

Dr J- But the Spanish Flu was a REAL pandemic. It had over an order of magnitude more deaths than Covid. Especially when adjusting for population growth, the difference is staggering.

Bad Nombre July 29, 2021 - 9:56 PM - 9:56 PM

@JMO,

And what does that mean? This is not a flu virus. It is also not as deadly as the 1918 influenza. Does that mean it will take longer to go away? Will it ever go away? If COVID mostly killed the young and healthy as was the case with the 1918 influenza would that make a difference?

Also, what is JMO? Journal of Medical Obfuscation?

Me July 29, 2021 - 11:13 PM - 11:13 PM

1 thing you are forgetting to mention. The reason why there were so many deaths back then. They didn’t have masks. Vaccines, or any real way to notify anyone. If that was now. We would be 10 million plus. The reason why the Spanish flu stop killing people. It couldn’t find any other host to kill.

nytemuvr July 30, 2021 - 3:12 AM - 3:12 AM

@Me….You might what to check your assumptions about masks and vaccines during the Spanish Flu era….”The mask wars of the 1918 flu pandemic | Crosscut” https://crosscut.com/2020/07/mask-wars-1918-flu-pandemic

Roz July 30, 2021 - 7:09 AM - 7:09 AM

For the Record ~ That makes total sense. Thank You.

Roz July 30, 2021 - 8:47 AM - 8:47 AM

@ nytemuvr~
Thanks for the info,…learn something new every day.

Me July 31, 2021 - 8:58 PM - 8:58 PM

nytemuvr Actually if you wanna read up a little more on it. Most people who wore “So Called Masks” were actually Gaze masks. Which did absolutely nothing. Mainly the nurses and doctors wore masks. I actually know a lot about what happen during that time 🙂

Me July 31, 2021 - 9:10 PM - 9:10 PM

Nytemuvr

Also, Vaccines for that Flu didn’t hit the public until 1946. Wayyyy after the massive 1918 issue. Soldiers received it during WWII. Before you call someone out. Please do some homework 🙂

Joe Blow July 29, 2021 - 6:06 PM - 6:06 PM

So if I do the numbers correctly, there are 26Covid patients in ICU and 126 Covid patients currently being hospitalized in the 8 hospitals in the County. That’s 3-4 Covid patients in each ICU. That’s about 12% of the ICU usage, according to the County’s web site. The objective of all of the restrictions was was to not overwhelm the system. Now I believe the objective is to continue to “rule.”

Why did I subject my body to an unproven vaccine if I now have to follow all of the BS?

Let’s batten down the hatches and prepare for another round of hysteria.

Bobfished July 29, 2021 - 6:42 PM - 6:42 PM

Nothing exposes the Covid lies quicker than the fact that they are letting thousands of infected illegal migrants into the country with no masks, no testing, no treatment, no vaccines. And all the while, they are telling American citizens that we must be forced to get a vaccine, wear a mask and stay away from other people.

Me July 29, 2021 - 11:23 PM - 11:23 PM

What does illegal migrants have anything to do outside of Texas? You’re saying the illegals have everything to do with the rest of the US? Think twice

Puffandstuff July 30, 2021 - 6:40 AM - 6:40 AM

@ me … the govt is transferring thousands of illegals all over the country via planes and buses

Bean Burner July 30, 2021 - 7:35 AM - 7:35 AM

@Me

Cause there are no illegal immigrants in CA or the great northern CA region.

*eyeroll*

Roz July 29, 2021 - 7:32 PM - 7:32 PM

+1 x 100 = 100%,…Amen!
Thank You for Sharing.

earl July 29, 2021 - 8:09 PM - 8:09 PM

if the democrats hadn’t convinced everyone the sky is falling, well the last guy would still be in office and likely we’d be much better off

Me July 29, 2021 - 11:20 PM - 11:20 PM

If I’m not mistaken. Your so called better off Republican that USE to be in office made the US shut down. The current Democrat got us out. The previous president put us in one of the worse recessions in US history. Ya blame a democratic…

SGV July 30, 2021 - 5:29 PM - 5:29 PM

If that last guy were still in office our country would be in much better shape in every way. Fauci recommended the shut-down and as the expert, was initially listened to by the President. Thankfully th President stopped listening to that fraud.

Cyn July 29, 2021 - 8:27 PM - 8:27 PM

Old Fart, that was an excellent post.

Michael July 29, 2021 - 8:44 PM - 8:44 PM

It would be nice to know how many of the hospitalized are fully vaccinated, one dose and unvaccinated

Donothaveone July 29, 2021 - 9:01 PM - 9:01 PM

LA states at 25% of all cases are vaccinated people. The CDC says 97% of all people in the hospital are unvaccinated or 3% of vaccinated people end up in the hospital.

Bad Nombre July 29, 2021 - 10:01 PM - 10:01 PM

Contra Costa Health Services reports about the same percentage for positive tested cases (20-25% are vaccinated). Not sure what the figure is for hospitalized but there has not been a death among staff or patients in a long term care facility since April so that tells me that the vaccine is doing a good job of preventing deaths.

Jay Roller July 29, 2021 - 9:23 PM - 9:23 PM

Thank you Old Fart!

Blink July 29, 2021 - 9:48 PM - 9:48 PM

Wonder how nurses and drs feel caring for those who opt out of vaccine
& get COVID

Yoyo Hop July 29, 2021 - 10:24 PM - 10:24 PM

Blink – They probably don’t feel as bad as the hundreds of parents that lost a child after that child was vaccinated. There were over 800 serious illnesses (including 17 deaths) after vaccination, just this week, according to VAERS. This is data for only ages 12 to 17 – a group that has a near zero chance of dying from Covid.

“The most recent reported deaths include a 13-year-old boy (VAERS I.D. 1463061) who died after receiving a Moderna vaccine, a 16-year-old boy (VAERS I.D. 1466009) who died after receiving his second dose of Pfizer and a 16-year-old boy (VAERS I.D. 1475434) who died with an enlarged heart six days after receiving his first Pfizer dose.” From Children’s Health Defense.

SGV July 30, 2021 - 5:23 PM - 5:23 PM

They probably are wishing Trump were still President so the wall would have been completed. Hundreds of thousands coming across our border are sick. A large percentage with Covid-19. I’m certain those Dr.’s and nurses are not happy about it.

Obamavirus July 30, 2021 - 10:29 AM - 10:29 AM

The Democrat Party political class has been purchased and is bullied like a mafia victim by the financial class money printers to prepare the Great Reset
This is a multi decade operation in progress and everything stupid that they do and say can be seen clearly through this lens
Even woke ideology is part of the plan because they want a divided and helpless population that cant oppose them
There are some elements of the population that feel they will benefit by the new Socialist utopia and they will be favored by media and politicians and used to fight against the rest of the population
