Gov. Gavin Newsom signed an expansion of the state’s Medicaid program this week, making all low-income adults age 50 and up eligible for the program regardless of immigration status.
The bill expands Medi-Cal coverage to roughly 235,000 state residents, according to state officials, and also expands behavioral health services for people age 25 and under as well as homeless residents who have mental health issues.
Newsom framed the bill as a step toward the state achieving universal health care.
“We have not finished that job, but we’re making a big investment here today in that progress,” Newsom said.

Is Newsom trying to burn down the state budget? Because when tax receipts go back down to normal, someone is going to have to fix the mother-of-all budget deficits.
Newsom has created a two tier state. The first tier has to work hard, pay taxes and sacrifice to pay for themselves and their families. The second tier is provided government sponsored programs which pay for their housing, children and medical care all payed the first tier. A socialist utopia…..

This @$$hat doesn’t care or realize that giving hand outs to illegals is a major slap in the face to those who waited for many years for their immigration request to be processed and approved and who, during those years, were faced with hardships but did what they had to do in order to immigrate to the USA the legal way. Those legal immigrants are the same people who had to prove they were not going to be a financial burden to the country in order to be allowed in legally and who had to prove they are law abiding and productive in order to GAIN citizenship. Many of those who are here illegally label legal immigrants as suckers and laugh that they have the same benefits, or more, as any U. S Citizen, except for having the right to vote, but voting is something they don’t care about. Newscum doesn’t not give an incentive for people to want to become U.S Citizens and to embrace this country as their own when he does this sort of thing. Also, legal immigrants have to go through a series of medical evaluations and be up to date with required vaccines the U. S Government has deemed to be necessary, especially if the country from where the immigrants are coming from are still having cases of diseases that have been eradicated in the U.S. We are having the Covid vaccine push on us because it will help not overburden the healthcare system yet this is okay. Hope people realize this doesn’t only cover illegals but it also opens the door for even more visa holders to come here for birth/medical tourism.
Now the illegal aliens can get free health care for both their children and elderly parents, which creates yet another incentive to bring their dependents when they cross the border illegally.
Us poor citizen-schlubs may consider the US a sovereign nation, but to the elite the US is nothing more than an economic zone. And it’s certainly no more than that to the illegals.
With legal, metered immigration, you change the immigrant. With illegal mass immigration, the illegal immigrant changes you.
Great, now all those illegals over 50 coming into the country infected with COVID, and what ever other disease they have, can be treated on the California taxpayer’s dime, and quickly fill up county hospitals.

Why can’t they apply for Covered CA? At least they would have more options then on Medi-cal. Not a lot of MD’s except that insurance due to the fact that reimbursement is very low. Also, most of the time you can’t bill a patient on medi-cal so the doctor’s have to write it off.

This is fricken ridiculous. All democrats need to be voted out. This state will probably never recover from the damage they have done and are continuing to do. Why in the heck are we paying for illegals instead of shipping them home or even stopping them at the border. There is no justifiable reason for this at all. My kids future in this state has been wiped out completely. Young couples starting out will have such a huge tax burden to pay for all of this crap.
I hate to be this guy, but go to your local latino market, and take note of the obesity rate. Providing end-of-life medical care for a huge population of obese people who don’t pay taxes will ruin us.

My dad worked 35+ years paying taxes at a high school and has to pay $329 a month for kaiser now that hes retired. Has limited funds from social security and his pension luckily.
But these people who never put into the system paying taxes can just come here and hop on medical free and also they can bring their children and have them get paid by IHSS to take care of them because they are consider low income.
My dad after breaking his hip is told his kids who took time off work to help care for him can not be paid by IHSS and that he has to pay out of his own pocket or pay for a nurse because he makes over $2000 a month. He paid into the system for 35+ years and gets none of the benefits but these freeloader illegals come and hop aboard and get a free ride its not fair.
