The CDC is set to urge vaccinated people in high-transmission areas to resume wearing masks indoors.

QUESTION: Will you wear a mask indoors in a high-risk transmission area if you’re vaccinated against COVID-19?

Talk about it….

I will not divulge whether I am vaccinated or not to anyone, and I will not wear a mask unless it is a requirement to enter a business. A business has the right to require a mask just like they have a right to require a certain dress code, and I don’t have a problem complying.

Thumbs up Dawg

Sad decision.

I will not wear a mask unless required to do so. When I can, I will shop at businesses that do not require a mask.

My children will be in school, unfortunately wearing a mask, because being in a classroom is more than just an academic education. It is an education on social skills that help combat anxiety, fear and other ailments.

I cannot keep up with the waffling flip flopping at the CDC.

I do not want people thinking I’m injected with a toxin….so I haphazardly and incorrecty wear a mask.

BTW, so called ‘herd’ immunity DOES NOT come from an injection…….this flu needs to just run its course.

Flu kills less then 50k a year. Covid killed over 500k in 1 year in US alone. Not even close to the same.

Heard immunity comes in a few different ways. And yes, Injections are 1 of them. Sorry to burst your bubble.

CDC has stated SOOOOOO many times that the will change how they look at this virus as they get new info. This Virus has only been around for a year and a half. So they are learning in REAL TIME as we all are. You are NOT a scientist nor know how any of this works. So please don’t say how things are when the REAL scientists are learning for us to help people the most at rist safe…..

.
What happened to following the “science”?
.
Last week, President Biden said the vaccine works.
.
Is this not true?
.
Now the CDC changes last week’s recommendations?
.
Science?
.
Sounds more like politics and control.
.

The so called “science” you’re talking about requires Everyone to be vaccinated in order for it to work, LOL.

I’ll make it very clear for you: Does my motorcycle helmet only work when everyone else is wearing a helmet???

Vaccines only work if a certain percentage of the population get vaccinated. Basic science!

I went through public school. Never had to wear a uniform.

No big deal to wear the current uniform that I believe will better my odds of not getting Covid-19. And yes. I did get the vaccine. I want to hug and play with my grandchildren. 😊

No shirt, no shoes, no mask, it’s all good.

I was at the bank and overheard an elderly woman sticking her nose in the tellers business. She was asking the Teller if she was vaccinated.

When I walked by that Teller….I pointed to my arm and said “Don’t do it”?
Do you go around asking others of they have herpes or hemorrhoids? MYOB.

Never stopped wearing a mask indoors.

No one saw this coming….

Said no one ever.

CDC = Clumsy Daily Contradicting

Still haven’t worn the mask, not gonna start now.

Won’t wear a mask in this state ever again. If forced I will leave CA for a free state not run by absolute idiots.

Gee I find having to wear shoes and clothing in public inconvenient and yet I do it. Clothing and shoes inhibit my freedom of expression and freedom of my body to move and breathe freely and yet I do it. I’m forced to wear clothing and shoes in public because of prudish obsolete religious uptight beliefs of the masses in this country.
So really a mask is nothing. Don’t come to NV as we are back to masks as well.

The CDC lost a lot of credibility when they said that masks were ineffective in the first place. They also never bothered to tell you that paper masks and surgical masks do very little to stop the virus if you’re around someone who is exposed for a while.

We should be using N95 masks in enclosed spaces since they filter particles up to 10 microns, and can limit heavy concertations of viral load if you are exposed to Covid spreaders. But there is no political will to do the right thing and actually follow science. Security theater, get jabbed. Put more $ into Big Pharma’s pockets. Freedom be damned.

I’ll wear it, because my job will make me wear it. And I’ll take it off whenever I am out of eyesight of management, because it is incredibly stupid.

I still have not seen any evidence that the mask (regular cloth) has any more than possibly a marginal effect on transmission. Mask mandate states compared to non-mandate don’t really show any appreciable difference per-capita when you control for other factors. I can sort of see them for mass transit/airplanes and other tightly packed, longish term proximity events, but as far as blanket mandates, they don’t seem to have an effect.

Whatever, it will make people feel good, and that’s what matters. Maybe they can put a mask on their “In THIS House…” yard sign for the extra virtue points.

Show me the scientific studies to back up this change. Be straight with people. Otherwise it looks like a political decision.

Show me scientific studies saying that it is good to wear shoes and clothing. Making people wear shoes and clothing in public suffocates the body and spirit. And yet the wearing of clothes and shoes in public is mandated.

@Well Folks,

I don’t always wear shoes in public. Sometimes bare foot, often with Birkenstock sandals but shoes or boots beat either on the rocks or questionable ground.

Clothing is probably advisable against UV. Bod gets enough free time at home that I don’t feel suffocated.

But there is no scientific evidence to the necessity of clothing or shoes. And yet we were clothes in public as it is mandated by the government to do so based on an archaic religious/moral belief that the body is some kind of sinful thing. In essence a mask is no more inconvenient than clothing but you don’t here a bunch of spoiled entitled Americans complain about that.

I would expect a mask mandate from the bay area health departments coming soon. The entire bay area reflects either high or substantial on the CDC map due to the Delta variant. Delta now accounts for 83% of the cases, but was only 1% when the previous guidelines were issued.

The Delta variant puts out 1000% higher viral loads than the original strain. Therefore, it is significantly more contagious and easier to spread even amongst vaccinated people. (Source: UC Health).

The Delta variant is being spread almost exclusively by unvaccinated people. If people want to end mandates and restrictions they need get vaccinated so the virus stops mutating. Science is real.

Yes science is real. REAL SCIENCE shows the recovery rate for the virus at 99% and for the delta variant it is higher. REAL SCIENCE shows the absolute reduction rate for the “vaccines” to be around 1%. If you are not familiar with AAR, look it up. REAL SCIENCE shows naturally acquired antibodies to be far superior to any so called vaccine and possibly life long. REAL SCIENCE has proven masks to be useless.

You are completely full on propaganda. Be careful not to stand next to anything sharp, you may pop. 1000% higher viral loads🤣🤣🤣unvaccinated people??🤣🤣🤣Where do you come up with this misinformation? For real. Literally none of what you said has been said by anyone credentialed. It’s all fluffy speculation by media hacks. How do you hang your hat on that? Pure insanity.

Sam, you are the one who is woefully uninformed. Google ANY of the items I stated and you will find info. I’ve read scores of studies and attended a medical conference on vaccines. Have you?

INFORM YOURSELF!

Oh, and my family and I had Covid. Barely more than a cold.

I’ll bet my antibodies against your useless, dangerous vaccine any time. In fact, lets revisit this thread a year from now. It will be VERY interesting!

@deb shay

You’re preaching to the choir. My post was to dlo. But thanks for your input.

Newsom thinks the unvaccinated are like drunk drivers. I wonder what the elites offered him to tow the line?

Real estate. It’s well documented.

Two people under the age of seventy died of covid in CCC in the last 60 days and they were getting old. No one under fifty. I am vaccinated and I never wear a mask. Can’t believe all the people who wear them in the stores. You want to ask these masked people if they have been vaccinated. Most people are wearing them. Don’t vaccinate your child.

You missed a few stories. One said a 5 year old died from COVID-19.

Do you wear shoes and clothing in public? Well wearing shoes and clothing is just as “stupid” as a mask. Why do you suffocate your body with shoes and clothing???? Oh wait wearing shoes and clothing is the law….an antiquated law at that. So then what is the difference between and mask mandate and a clothing/shoe mandate other than and obsolete religious stigma that makes the human body something terrible.

I’ve only worn a mask in order to shop.

I don’t see any reason to change my mind now.

I noticed a lot of people seem very willing to give up their rights for the chance of maybe a little safety I’m not one of those people I’m not a liberal sheep I’m a free thinker I can do my own research and what I’ve come up with is that our government has been lying to us I do not believe anything I hear in the media after being lied to for 5 years now I think they’ve proven they cannot be trusted

People give up their “right” (FYI we don’t have right we have privileges) every day as we are forced to wear clothes and shoes by you right wing warped moral/religious people. So what is the difference between a mask and clothing that suffocates the body.

The people I do not understand are the ones that tell others to get vaccinated yet do not trust the vaccine. Telling others to get a vaccine you do not trust makes no sense. At the end of the day we all have to make our own choice to get vaccinated or not based on what information you trust, not others. And if someone ask you if you are vaccinated, like Dawg said, it is none of there business.

Yes, I would wear a mask. Even though I am vaccinated, I wear a mask when I am at work in the office, and when inside at stores doing grocery shopping. The Pfizer vaccine is about 80% effective against the Delta Variant. And the mask adds a little more protection hopefully deflecting away other people’s breath spray away from my face. So both together reduce the probability of getting Covid.

Perhaps we can have a security guard at the entrance of every business with an armband checking papers. If you don’t have the correct stamp, no entrance unless you are a newly arrived from south of the border and then in that case you will be given carte blanch.

I intend to wear half a mask and a cap with a big “?” in the middle, plus one hand gloved. I hope that will satisfy everybody.

Masks inside stores don’t bother me because getting Covid-19 does. I want my freedom to be well.

Under the age of 70 and they were old or getting old. How old are you? What is old, someone famous once said “old is 15 years older than me” that sounds good to me, since I’m in my seventies. I can’t everything I use to, hiking Yosemite, walking 5-6 miles, however I still exercise, go out with friends, and enjoy my grandchildren. I hate to think it would be okay for me to get Covid and die because of my age.

Yes, I’ll wear a mask indoors. Thanks to the Delta variant, the virus is spreading like wildfire. All of the Bay Area counties have high or substantial Covid transmission rates according to the CDC, which means we meet the criteria for needing to wear masks. It’s only a minor annoyance to me, so why not?

The CDC changed its mask guidance because they now have evidence that fully vaccinated people can transmit the Delta variant if they are infected with virus. That wasn’t the case with the original virus or previous variants. The vaccine is still highly effective in protecting us against serious illness and death from the Delta variant, but there will be some vaccinated people who get a mild case or a case with no symptoms. And now we know those people can transmit the virus to others.

Given the high transmissibility of the Delta variant, you might want to up your mask game. N95 and KN95 asks are no longer in short supply. You can buy them online. Or you could double mask. That means wearing a disposable pleated medical mask, topped with a cloth mask. That gives you better protection than either a medical mask or cloth mask alone. Read more about double masking here:

The power of clarity-
Clear messaging is one of the most powerful tools that public health officials have, but only when they use it. And the C.D.C. and the Biden administration did not do so yesterday. They failed to convey whether they wanted the entire country to begin changing its behavior — or whether they were focusing on only some regions, which happen to be the very places that require special attention to reach.

The new guidelines will still probably help somewhat. The highly contagious Delta variant has fueled a rise in cases across the country, which means that masks may make at least a small difference almost everywhere. But more frequent masking in heavily vaccinated communities will almost certainly not make a major difference. The much larger problem is that more than 30 percent of eligible Americans have not been vaccinated.

“The C.D.C.’s new masking recommendations seem fine to me, but it’s pretty low stakes as compared to anything related to vaccine policy,” Nate Silver of FiveThirtyEight wrote. “If you want to get mad at the public health agencies, get mad at them for not having fully authorized the vaccines yet.”

Some experts also said that Americans, frustrated by the long pandemic, need to hear a clear plan for what will allow the masks to come off. “If we want to continue to ask people to step up,” Jennifer Nuzzo, a Johns Hopkins University epidemiologist, told The Times, “we need to give them a vision of what we’re working toward.”

I will, as a Fully Vaccinated Citizen of Contra Costa County, be wearing my N95 masks, as I have many of them, the pleated medical don’t fare well with me, but yes it is a minor annoyance as previously stated, but it’s more than apparent, in my opinion that had the approach been presented as an “expectation” not a “choice” minus religion and medical reasons, we may not be where we are again. This “Beast” was relentless from before day one in our country and here we are, back and forth, back and forth, not just because of data/science, but because of attitudes. If tackled correctly as with any crisis right out the gate, these additional see/saw patterns and additional lives at risks in this case could be avoided.

I only wore a mask when this farce began when forced to do so. I am fully vaccinated now and have no intention of wearing a mask again, except when forced to do so, such as when I take my mother to the doctor and their office requires it.

Having left Kleptofornica, my new home state has no government-mandated masking at this time. We will not do business with a restaurant or store which erects this barrier. BTW- None of the workers remodeling our new home have worn a mask. We even shake hands. Imagine that!

Common sense: If Covid and its mutations are increasing, the borders wouldn’t be open for millions illegally swarming into the USA. Millions of diseased are being bussed an flown across the nation.

So we have circled back to this being Schroeder’s Virus. If you don’t get vaccinated, you will catch the virus, and if you’ve been vaccinated you will spread it.

The flip-flopping and horrible messaging during this pandemic is criminal (even though Cuomo won’t be imprisoned). The government should have found some great Mad Men to produce a campaign to sell this stuff (the vaccinations), rather than confuse and demoralize people.

Yes, I will continue to wear a mask indoors. I am immunosuppressed and the scientists do not really know how effective the vaccine is on people in that category. I am fully vaccinated but as you can see from reading these comments, people are not concerned if they put others in danger. I know some people who are NOT vaccinated who walk around unmasked like it is their ‘right’. No one has a ‘right’ to put others at risk. Any business can tell you to wear shirts and shoes and no one is screaming about them taking freedoms away. A mask is no different. We wear seat belts to protect ourselves and others and masks are no different. And before anyone starts with me, I do not vote democrat and am not a liberal. I do my own research and do not follow anyone blindly. I am a human being who wants to do the right thing. The world would be a better place if more people did the right thing instead of the convenient thing.
