The Lafayette City Council on Monday will hear an appeal of the planning commission’s June 7 approval of a dozen townhomes on two vacant parcels on Stuart Street, requiring the removal of 14 trees.
The appeal was filed by Jeffrey and R. Ann Whitehead, the owners of The Child Day Schools, also on Stuart Street. They say the project will eliminate public parking available to their business and the development’s driveways will be hazardous to pedestrians walking in the school parking lot.
The land is at the east end of downtown, adjacent to Highway 24, on the east side of Stuart Street. The project will consist of three buildings and will include two units of below-market-rate housing, meeting the city’s inclusionary housing requirements, according to a staff report.
The Lafayette City Council meets virtually at 6 p.m. Monday and can be viewed at the city’s YouTube channel or on Zoom, at https://bit.ly/3zuzQug (passcode: 486310)
The owners of a private business are protesting that
the project will eliminate public parking available to
their business. Since when did public parking become
their private parking. Approve the project.
going through the motions
when has anyone ever stopped a council from doing what they want
and following their own special rules
you allowed city councils to rule you so why bother trying to negotiate then they dont have to or want to ….lol
seriously
its like asking someone to rule you
then questioning they way they do it
too funny how you give up your freedom then want it back
too late
damage is done
your children are now under their control
you gave up your rights to a bunch of corrupt do gooders out for themselves and their families
cant make this stuff up
you voters are sure showing yourselves to do real good
come one man !!!
I used to rent a unit of the 4 plex that faced HWY 24. Off of Stuart.
The appellants are grasping at straws….
.
The appellants have no “right” to public parking for their business.
.
Driveways are designed according to engineering standards for width, dwpth, egress, ingress, turning movements, and pedestrian visibility.
.
Build the project.
.
If it’s already been approved, the appropriate amount of silver has crossed the appropriate palms.
This meeting is just the usual dog and phony show.
Is this the Richmond Oaks project I heard about? or is this one Pittsburg Pines? I get them confused…😀
