Former U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer Assaulted, Robbed In Oakland On Monday

Former U.S. Sen. Barbara Boxer said on social media that she was assaulted and robbed Monday afternoon near Oakland’s Jack London Square.

The 80-year-old Boxer was pushed in the back by an assailant who took her cell phone and then jumped into a waiting car, according to a post on her Twitter account.

“She is thankful that she was not seriously injured,” the post said.

Boxer served as a U.S. Senator from California from 1993 to 2017.

In response to inquiries, Oakland police would not name Boxer but released a statement saying that a robbery occurred in the area at 1:15 p.m., when a victim walking in the 300 block of 3rd Street was approached by a suspect.

“The suspect forcefully took loss from the victim, and fled in a nearby waiting vehicle,” police said in the short statement. “This incident is currently being investigated by the Oakland Police Department’s Robbery Section.”

Defund the police is a term that became popular after Boxer was out of office, so not sure where she stands on that issue. However, the term defunding the police, does not make sense, who wants to defund the police, very few people. Perhaps reform or retrain is in order, but certainly not defunding. Whoever came up with that term did not think it through.

Popcorn – facts are facts.
What’s the difference if it’s a former senator or some homeless person? You should ALWAYS be aware of your surroundings. Obviously, she wasn’t – maybe thinking that “it’ll never happen to me…”

The fact is that Boxer and many other democrat politicians are pushing for decriminalizing many actions, and the DAs are NOT prosecuting the violators.

You have only the democrat politicians to blame for letting the criminals out early and not punishing them appropriately.

Deal with it. Call a social worker.

You reap what you sow, snowflake.

I think showing compassion towards someone that has been victimized is a good thing. You don’t have to like her, or agree with her, but she is a human being that was traumatized. As for the hate from the left, I’m totally against that, when Rush Limbaugh was diagnosed with cancer I didn’t rejoice or felt he had it coming, even though he said some hateful things. Disagreeing with someone it one thing, wishing them ill is something totally different. I was brought up to rise above such pettiness, and although I have not always lived up to it, I have tried and as I get older it gets easier.

From what I can gather, for liberals “restorative justice” means making an excuse to the victim for why you felt they deserved what you did to them. This is supposed to make them feel better about the injury, theft, assault, loss, whatever. Then, they can pick up the pieces of their lives and move on. And, you are absolved of the crime, because … well, because you had an excuse, basically.

Unfortunately the more high of profile people this happens to the better for maybe the powers of be have enough balls to start doing something about it. If criminals continue to run amuck threatening the public and doing harm more general public will start fighting back since the police, judges and politicians don’t seem to help put them in jail to stay.

It’s easy for our most liberal public officials to support defunding the police and the absurd notion of sending out counselors to assist the criminals in some sort of rehabilitation. But remember they spend a great deal of our money on their personal security while in office. Rather than addressing the problem, look for upcoming legislation forcing us to pay for their personal security in retirement also. Cradle to grave protection for the elite………..

Blame cell phones companies and actually let’s sue the company who made her phone. Problem solved!!!

How cute. Look at you defending a registered foreign agent of china.

Please jimmy, tell me about ashli babbitt.

And the officer brutally murdered with a fire extinguisher 🙄

Morals? In the democrat party? On this blog?

Haw!

But you had no issues when it comes to conservatives.

Jeff July 28, 2021 - 8:58 AM - 8:58 AM

Some of those officers should have opened fire on protesters.

Sam, How does do you come to the conclusion that an elderly lady (me) who works retail, who immigrated here willingly, who stayed here since I arrived in 1967, even though the plan was to stay for one year, is a registered foreign agent? Quite a leap. I guess it is impossible for you to imagine that someone that is not a far right wing, can still love the US and happy that I decided to stay here, although I could easily have moved back to my native country several times.

Sam July 28, 2021 - 1:16 PM - 1:16 PM

@hanne
I was talking about barbara boxer. I do not think you are a registered foreign agent. Are you? I think you are an honest decent lady who doesn’t quite understand the level of corruption that Americans are up against. I believe you are well intentioned and mor often then not appreciate your point of views, even though we don’t agree.

Jimmy boy on the other hand has severe TDS and is probably lost forever. Bye jimmy.

Barb is working as a registered foreign agent, employee of the lobbying firm, Mercury Public Affairs representing the Chinese state owned China Electronics Technology Group and their US subsidiary Hikvision’s.
They make security systems… the very same ones used at internment camps in Xinjiang, where more than a million Uighurs are estimated to have been imprisoned or subjected to forced labor.

I guess she’s not picky about who she works for… but I gotta wonder why an 80 year old woman worth millions of dollars still needs to work? Or maybe there’s a bigger reason than money that compels her?

Thank You. I believe what goes around comes around. . I have been robbed it is not a pleasant experience. I do not wish it on ANYBODY, no matter their political leanings.

Sam July 28, 2021 - 1:20 PM - 1:20 PM

I don’t know jimmy, is that what she is? I guess we will have to wait and see. You think I don’t know what you are. That’s funny. You’re supposed to be smarter then that. I guess they still need to work out the bugs.

Fred July 29, 2021 - 7:15 AM - 7:15 AM

There’s a $2000 reward out there for identification of the suspect; yet why does this not happen with any other robbery suspect? Don’t they have the same rights.

/sarcasm off/

It’s all about politics….

That and failure to pay attention to your surroundings….because “it’ll never happen to me…”
