The following update on tonight’s freeway shooting, which is now a murder investigation, is from the CHP – Contra Costa:
This evening at about 6:35pm, a freeway shooting occurred on SR-4 westbound, just east of Port Chicago Highway in Concord. One victim succumbed to their injuries from gunshot wounds and another victim suffered moderate injuries due to gunshot wounds. The victims were in a black Toyota Camry. The unknown suspect vehicle fled the scene.
As a result of the shooting, the victim vehicle crashed into the metal guard rail at the top of the Port Chicago offramp.
CHP has shut down all westbound lanes of HWY4 in the area for scene processing and collection of evidence. At this time we do not have an estimated time of re-opening the freeway but expect it to be closed for at least a few hours. We will provide updates as soon as we can.
This is an ongoing investigation with Detectives assigned to CHP – Golden Gate Division Special Investigations Unit (SIU) who are actively investigating this shooting.

Maybe the CHP should open up a Field Office on Port Chicago. It would improve response time.

This is why I carry at least I’ll be able to shoot back if somebody starts shooting at me first and no I do not have a carry permit but I’m certainly not stupid enough to not be armed in these crazy times we’re in now.
I have come across several people who ordinarily would not carry without a permit. But at some point they say, “Do I break the law and carry and perhaps save the lives of my family, or do I not carry and wind up dead.” It seems more people are making the former decision.
Meanwhile our elected officials are going after gun dealers as an ignorent gesture. As such people like Newsom and Biden are God’s gift to the firearms business. Yet factually speaking most responsible people wish they didn’t have to take such measures to protect their family, however they refuse to be victims.

Do you realize more people have been shot and killed under forty years of age then the 13 under forties that have died of covid since it first hit in all of Contra Costa County. Yet bullet proof vests are not mandatory.

Our gun laws are not working. I propose instead of making guns illegal we make Criminals With Guns illegal. Or, increase the price of ammunition to $1Million per round.

This was a vehicle to vehicle shooting. Our vehicular laws are not working. Maybe make criminal use of vehicles illegal or require a background check at each fuel up. If you don’t have a car registered in your name, set the fee for the background check at the same rate as a car registration (just as for ammo and firearms).
Ca gun laws, prices etc mean nothing when you can drive a few hours to Nevada and buy whatever you want and much cheaper than Ca as well.
There is no fixing the mess we are in with criminals not being thrown in prison and kept in there.
Bluebird, That was a bit by Chris Rock, he suggested making the price of bullets $500.00 or more, since he is a comedian, and quite a good one, it was very funny, with a lot of truth to it.
Yes 1 million dollars per bullet is a really smart idea. I’m surprised nobody thought of that. It would definitely stop shooters. I mean there’s not a black market that would sell them for a buck a piece and they are definitely really hard to make and really high tech. It would be impossible to make in your garage. Well… this has happened before, most notably when Obama became President and was pushing gun control to ban military style weapons and high capacity magazines, so of course everybody who ever wanted one bought one and a ton of ammo to go with it.
In 2019 people were worried Biden could win the election and he’s a gun grabber, then the pandemic came along to raise paranoia along with Democrats endorsing BLM Marxist riots across the nation, police being ordered to stand down and all the leftist politicians calling for the police to be “defunded” even Joe Biden himself referring to police as “The Enemy” small wonder that gun sales in 2020 were 18,924,584 and now, in the first 6 months of 2021 gun sales have already reached 22,243,220 ! Again… thanks Biden.
Of course all those new gun buyers also bought an average of 2 boxes of ammo each, the result being that manufacturers are completely overwhelmed!
The ammo factories have hired as many new employees as they can considering how the pandemic thinned their ranks, and they all operate 24/7 but still can’t keep up.
Active target shooters and hunters still use ammo and the newbies are at the ranges learning how to use their new guns.
Everyone wants to buy as much ammo as they can and retailers have to set limits on how much you are allowed to buy.
The factories can’t fill the orders and have to make allotments to keep things fair & try to keep everyone in business.
Eventually things will catch up and stores will see ammo back in supply but it may take quite a while, depending on how much more aggressive the Socialist Democrats become violating our 2nd amendment rights and how many more people become aware that they need to be able to defend themselves.

Five shootings on Concord highways since April 26. It’s all coming from over the hill. But let’s focus on gun dealers, removing statues, teaching new race curriculum in our schools, and new restrooms for the confused. #Recallnewscum.
In New York a mother had lost a daughter and son in the same year. Both victims of drive by shootings. The mothers sister said something needs to be done to stop gun violence but did not want stop and frisk because it effects young men’s self esteem.
