This is a personal choice. People should be allowed to make their own choices. If so, hope you never walk across a street, or get in a car, cause you have a higher percentage of getting killed their than by COVID.

Would it surprise you to know that from 1909 to 1979 California forcibly sterilized about 20,000 people in state institutions who were deemed “unfit to produce”.

I’m pretty sure that those 20,000 people would disagree with you about personal rights not being important.
It is a personal choice, it is also the choice of an employer to keep employing you. You can get terminated for different reason, always showing up late, not following company policy and/or dress code. Your analogy of a car accident or walking across the street does not work. Neither are contagious. Walking across the street you can be careful and look to both sides before you cross, as for driving a car you also have some control. Although I will admit that you cannot prevent crazy out of control drivers that might crash into you. Still is very different than dealing with a contagious disease.

The analogy had to do with the chances of catching COVID. In a car, you wear a seatbelt to protect yourself in an accident. I could also wear a helmet, kneepads and wrap myself in bubble wrap to add further precautions, but I choose not to and accept the minimal risk of further injury IF I am exposed to an accident. I got vaccinated to protect myself from COVID. Yes, I could wear a mask to further protect myself, but I choose not to. Nor do I believe that the government/business should mandate it unless in specific circumstances. A medical professional working an emergency room, first responder etc … should probably be required to take the additional precautions of wearing a mask and getting the vaccine.

Private business can tell employees what to wear if a uniform is involved or if there is an office dress code. I don’t think they can, or should, force them about vaccinations. Require mask as part of dress code, okay. On the other hand private business can chose to not hire unvaccinated people and might be able to fire those not vaccinated.
@Deb Shay, hospitals have required employees to get the Covid vaccine and fired those who refused. Houston Methodist Hospital was the first to do so. Employees who refused the vaccine resigned or were fired. The terminated employees went to court, but the judge sided with the hospital and dismissed the lawsuit.
Abso-freakin-lutely not! And I’m not in any way anti-vax. I just think that employers mandating vaccines (particularly for non-job related illnesses) opens a door that should really stay closed.

Absolutely! It it’s a very contagious deadly virus! If the virus were only contained to the person infected, then I would say it is a personal choice. All these variants are created by people that are not getting their vaccines therefore allowing COVID-19 to mutate and turn into even more deadly viruses. People need to get vaccinated to stop spreading this vicious virus to mankind. The more we have control over the people that are vaccinated the better off will be even though some people think their freedoms are being taken away which is ridiculous because you won’t be allowed to have any freedoms if we don’t make sure that people get vaccinated! You could be dead or a long hauler.

We have VERY different definitions of deadly and contagious. Do you consider the common cold deadly and contagious as well?
Variants caused by unvaccinated … you might want to do actual research before you write stuff.
But your statement ‘the more we have control over the people that vaccinated’ speaks volumes to what you really want, your character and just wow. Simply wow.
You should learn that some things are better thought and kept in your head, versus writing them down for folks to see.

You wrote: “People need to get vaccinated to stop spreading this vicious virus to mankind. The more we have control over the people that are vaccinated the better off will be even though some people think their freedoms are being taken away which is ridiculous…….”
First, vaccinated people can still spread it around……just look at all the Texas lawbreaking super-spreaders chartering beer flights to D.C. And second, how about if I control what you eat, drink, and what you can post here on Claycord….are you cool with that? After all, it’s just your ridiculous freedoms you’re giving up, right?

Absolutely not. That’s insane. Not only is that a personal decision, but your employer has no right to inquire/request your medical records or information.
@elenora, depending on your job, your employer may have the right to require you to provide certain medical information. For example, teachers are required to provide proof of a negative TB test. Some states require hospital workers to have certain immunizations or provide proof of immunity. Pilots are required to pass a physical exam.
@Elenora and El D~
Also, depending on your job, there is drug testing required.

On another.. employers should have freedom of choice to hire or fire the unvaccinated. And while the courts will decide, I certainly hope there is a line drawn that the consuming public gets the virus and can somehow prove it was from an unvaccinated person in a business, there should be liability.
As a principal I would rather not patronize a business if they employ the unvaccinated nor be around others if unvaccinated.
Government should force the unvaccinated to wear masks as if it were a scarlet letter.
Our Daughter lives/works in Colorado. 60 employees at the store.

Depends on the job. Hospitals definitely should require employees to be vaccinated. So should nursing homes. I’d add pharmacy workers, physical therapists, home health aides, and similar health-related jobs to the list. Teachers should be required to be vaccinated, too. Police officers and jail workers as well.
It’s certainly in all employers’ best interests to have their employees vaccinated against Covid. Those that don’t require vaccination could offer incentives such as a cash bonus.
Amen! Yes also any private business that wants to discriminate against the anti-vaxxers by cutting them out of their workforce and not hiring them unless they are vaccinated. They are a menace society and themselves. Poor ignorant people hung up on personal choice and pride. It is pitiful and crazy to think it is ok for people to make such a dumb decision not to be vaccinated against Covid. Tired of people insisting on their personal freedoms and rights being taken away.
I support people making informed decisions. I am fully vaccinated and have chosen to be for the last 40-ish years. I do not support agents of the government forcing their “superior” intellect on anyone.
1. The vaccines are still not ‘approved’, they are authorized under an Emergency Use Authorization.
2. Lots of people have already had Covid, and for them getting the vaccine may, theoretically, provide some marginal benefit, but probably it gives you basically no benefit, just whatever risk of side effects there is.
3. For some age groups it is quite plausible that the vaccine might be more dangerous than the virus itself: young men with no Covid risk factors, for example, are very possibly more endangered by an mRNA vax than by COVID.

You have the right to be vaccinated or un-vaccinated. However, having a job is not a right. So just as you have the right to not be vaccinated, an employer has the right to say they will not hire someone who is un-vaccinated. If you chose to be un-vaccinated, apply at a company which doesn’t require being vaccinated. Everyone has choices. Again, working is not a right.
Roberta, Exactly my point. All the conservatives on this site are complaining about THEIR rights, what about an employer’s right to do what he/she thinks is best for his business. Isn’t that capitalism’s? Aren’t conservatives capitalist’s? Although I’m liberal on most issues, I do believe in the free market. I have owned my own business, been self employed, worked for big companies American Express and Macy’s, work for small companies and mid size company, every company I worked for there were rules we had to follow. If you can’t follow the rules start your own business and make rules for that business that aligns with your beliefs.

So the question for all those that believe anyone else should have power over my body. I used to take the flu shot, always made me very sick for a week within 24 hrs, dangerous high fever, body aches, so sick…I took it for years, always getting really sick anyway and several times a year. Doc finally figured out I was allergic to it, so I stopped 12 yrs ago, since then I hardly ever get sick, 1 time in 3 yrs. and it’s mild. So this vaccine would probably kill me. I had the Rona just before the lockdown, it’s was the most mild flu I’ve ever had, didn’t go to work, but lived normal and still exercised hard everyday. So I don’t need the vaccine. And If you get vaccinated, it doesn’t matter if I do.
I agree. I got sick from a flu shot and stopped taking it years ago. There’s no way in hell I’ll ever put another one in my body or a Wuhan 19 shot. I stay fit and healthy. Time to go weight lift right now! The family and I are doing crowded theme parks all weekend and had a blast last night!

In line with what I’ve mentioned here about anti-body tests, I did find the recent articles about Mologic’s product which would sell for $1 and you get the results in 10 minutes. The story was all over mainstream news back on Tuesday but you needed to look under the financial section. It was Gates and Soros who invested in the company. I don’t trust those two as they may try to keep it off the market.
Mologic is also known as the developer of inexpensive pregnancy tests. Their antibody test requires just a pinprick of blood. Theoretically if you have the antibodies you probably don’t need the vaccine. It’s your choice.

https://www.statnews.com/2021/02/23/federal-law-prohibits-employers-and-others-from-requiring-vaccination-with-a-covid-19-vaccine-distributed-under-an-eua/
No, but I support mandatory mental acuity tests for all elected officials.
Vaccinated people are testing positive and spreading it so the argument about others is not valid.
It is completely unrealistic to think that every individual in the entire world will eventually be vaccinated.
and……..BOOM!!! You did it again popcorn!!!
It took me a long time to understand your satire, but now that I do it is brilliant. Thank you for your hard work exposing the lunacy. In a world full of coal, you truly are a diamond 💎
@Ilovepopcorn
“The more we have control over the people…”
“…because you won’t be allowed to have any freedoms…”
Popcorn-
Please take a second and read these words. And then mull over them for a minute. This is exactly what tin pot dictators spew. These are the words of Hitler, Mao, Stalin, Amin, Chavez, Kim, Mugabe, Castro. These guys have collectively killed 20+ MILLION people!
“The more we have control over the people…”
“…you won’t be allowed to have any freedoms…”
Pretty chilling words when you think about it and just a short step to mandated re-education camps.
Popcorn – you finally admitted it .
“The more control we have over people…”
No thanks.
Ever read 1984?
No. Period, end of discussion.
@Elenora and El D~
Also, depending on your job, there is drug testing required.
It’s really not medical, but for safety on a jobsite.
Yes, especially if they are in a critical sector or have interactions w the public.
If you don’t understand how vaccinations and immunity work, talk to your doctor and stop asking why vaccinated people want to stay away from the unvaccinated.
If you’re afraid of a shot that has far fewer risks than COVID itself, maybe it’s time for you to stay home.
@james Brown….it sounds like you got ants in your pants and need to dance.
I don’t need a shot!
@ James Brown
‘If you’re afraid of a shot that has far fewer risks than COVID itself, maybe it’s time for you to stay home.’
I think what you meant to say was we are wary of mRNA vaccines which are made with a technology never before licensed for use in humans.
Or we can opt for the other one that has less efficacy and a blood clot warning. No thanks!
Not while it’s under Emergency Use Authorization, but once it receives full Approval I think it’s fair game. I got the vaccine because I wanted to, not because I was forced to.
@94521
Your post makes it sound like you’d be alright being forced, if it had full approval.
No !!!!!
Yes, of course employers should put these requirements in place.
https://www.statnews.com/2021/02/23/federal-law-prohibits-employers-and-others-from-requiring-vaccination-with-a-covid-19-vaccine-distributed-under-an-eua/
Agree
If you had put this question to the general public 10 years ago think how outraged they would have been and even if the mandate was for employees to get the flu vaccine. My have times changed!
These employers and schools are forcing people to get the vaccine yet none of them willingly pay for employees or students medical treatment and they will not be allowed themselves to be held financially responsible if anyone suffers a bad reaction from the vaccine and gets hospitalized or dies.
Absolutely not!!!
Absolutely not. The only people that are being hospitalized are people that have chosen not to take the vaccine. If the unvaccinated want to continue to pass it to each other that is their choice. The very rare who are vaccinated may get a mild flu but that is the price of, FREE WILL.
Not exactly accurate about only nonvaccs being hospitalized, but i agree that to vacc or not is free will, the most basic of all human rights.
Ilovepopcorn, the unvacinated are unvacinated by choice. As of now anyone has the ability to get vaccinated. If you trust the vaccine and you recieved it then worry about yourself. To impose on there right to not get the vaccine is not right, remember, we live in America.
Ilovepopcorn, if you trust the vaccine then there is no need to worry but if you do not trust the vaccine dont tell others they should get it. That would make no sense.
Absolutely not.
But they will soon enough.
Welcome the communism you elected.
I have friends and family not vaccinated. I wish they would change their minds but I wouldn’t force them to get vaccinated.I am still trying to figure out how six Texas democrats got the virus after being vaccinated. Maybe a stewardess contaminated them.
@Ricardoh~
From what I gather, the vaccine is to protect you from getting really ill or dying, but you can still get the virus, and even then, you can possible pass the virus on to other.
So, guessing, vaccinated or not, it’s not going to be wiped out totally.
Even people getting the yearly Flu shot, some catch a/the Flu.
Yeah it’s a great idea. I heard Fauci say it was cool, just like peeing your pants is cool.
Yes. Definitely!,
On another.. employers should have freedom of choice to hire or fire the unvaccinated.
@ David~
I have a real example to share,….
Our Daughter lives/works in Colorado. 60 employees at the store.
3 weeks ago 15 tested positive for Covid. 10 were vaccinated, 5 were not and all 15 had to stay home for 10 days then retested.
It would be interesting if somehow prove it was from an unvaccinated person in a business, like you mentioned.
Or if it was vaccinated person?
NO!
YES.
Yikes, i think we know who the menace is here.
NO!
I support people making informed decisions. I am fully vaccinated and have chosen to be for the last 40-ish years. I do not support agents of the government forcing their “superior” intellect on anyone.
Well said!
Nope. For a few reasons.
Fortunately we will see more private businesses making sure their employees are vaccinated. That is their priority these days especially since we have the Delta variant plus other ones infecting so many people. Most people agree with their policies about cutting out the anti-vaxxers. Adios! Take your personal choice and suffer just don’t make us suffer by your ignorance.
Yes, just like any other immunization. As a Human, you have Rights and you also have Responsibilities. Teachers and child care workers must show proof of a negative TB test.
And last but not least, SCIENCE PEOPLE!! EDUCATE YOURSELF.
We must be reading different studies and medical journals because our view on “the science” is completely different.
we dont get a tb test evey week!!!!!!! educate yourself, if im not sick im not getting tsted, should I get tested for HIV, and meningitus, or the flu week? on my day off, at my cost?? for sysmptoms i do not have?? so you assume im sick? eveyday? this is insanity, its a cold, a cold,
.
NOPE.
.
At this point, the unvaccinated are responsible for themselves and getting a vaccination or not is an individual choice.
HECK YES! I don’t want to work with the unvaccinated. If you dont want to take the steps to be part of the solution and are adamant to be part of the problem, You should get none of the perks that the people that are trying to stop this should. No Travel, No dining out, Nothing but at home quarantine.
Segregate all unvaccinated on an island and let them work with each other.
You’ve been around the “unvaccinated” forever.
Why is it suddenly an issue???
Propaganda….that’s why.
You Acknowledge & Admit that your precious vax DOES NOT work.
Yeah, they used to say things about the blacks, jews and others …
I guess History does repeat itself sometimes.
I am not allowed on this site to tell you what I think of you and your words.
Then for heaven’s sake dont think about all the unvaxxed going around unmasked. It’ll make you crap your pants!😂
Yes keep the unvaccinated folks far away from us. One way is to be able to participate in businesses one must prove their up to date Covid vaccines. Especially government institutions, hospitals and all medical businesses, schools, colleges and public venues. Let the unvaccinated pay for their hospital costs if they get Covid!
“MY BODY! MY CHOICE!!!” is not exclusive to the right to abort a fetus
@Cath~Well said…agree with your deductive reasoning that for you this vaccine does not make sense…
Yes. And if the employee has bought into the false narratives around the vaccines, they can get a job where vaccinations aren’t required.
Eric Clapton also thought the vaccine was harmless. Then severe side-effects left him almost unable to move.
You also need to wear clothes, wash gloves & hairnets in certain jobs and show up a specific time (in most jobs) so yea, whatever the employer wants, you decide if you want to work there. So, unless you are a nudist, you have already agreed to abide by basic societal riles. The shot is just another requirement.
No- and my job mandated a questionnaire knowing if we were vaccinated, but they had 3 choices so you could chose not to disclose. This is plan return to the office.
No!
The vaccines are still experimental.
Dr. Fauci is making millions off of the Moderna Jabs.
