Statewide Flex Alert Issued In California

by CLAYCORD.com

The agency overseeing California’s power grid issued a flex alert Thursday in advance of scorching temperatures forecast across the state Friday and the potential for an overloaded grid.

The California Independent System Operator issued the flex alert for Friday between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. in anticipation of temperatures pushing into triple digits and increased power use via air conditioning and other appliances that could overload the power grid and force rotating power outages.

State residents are urged to conserve power during the alert window by setting thermostats to 78 degrees or higher, cooling rooms with fans or by closing curtains, turning off unneeded lights and avoiding using large appliances.

I can’t see Gavin flexing anything.

Arnold on the other hand is still able to flex at his age. No “girlie man” for him.

I like Arnold, he is a very intelligent man, and although a Republican I find myself agreeing with a lot of what he says. He has a lot of common sense and also a sense of humor, something that some politicians are sorely lacking in.

So we don’t have enough water or electricity. Next is a food shortage. Thank you democrats. Or politicians in general.

Apparently we also didn’t have enough masks, ventilators, tests, vaccines. But hey, that’s not important. What’s really important is that we teach our kids wokism, marxism, and critical race theory.

Ricardoh, I thought the exact same thing! I also thought how governor knew some loves to say the California is like a world power equal to European countries, yet we don’t have enough electricity, we don’t have enough water, and yes I’m waiting for us not to have enough food either. But we do have a lot of criminals running around everywhere, and run over with homeless.

An if power goes out after 4 pm as solar production drops off, as you sit sweating think how fortunate you are that CA is going to “clean power”.

Well it’s a good thing CA has all those Peaker Plants built specifically for such occasions. You know the ones we used to have. Before state legislature and CPUC decided to be green and eliminate them.
YET often, when a crisis comes up, those in power fall all over themselves and declare a state of emergency allowing use of portable power generation. Eagerly waiving usual red tape and multiple levels of paperclip warrior bureaucracy to allow their use even if generation equipment exceeds CA pollution regulations.
Where’s the green in that ?

‘California regulators edge away from gas peaker plants’
“The California Public Utilities Commission last week rejected a proposed refurbishment to the Ellwood gas-fired peaker plant in the Moorpark region of southern California, finding that “no reliability need justifies approval” of the plant at this time.”

“Last month, California lawmakers passed SB 338, which would mandate that utilities develop carbon-free alternatives to gas generation for meeting peak demand in their integrated resource plans. The bill awaits an expected signature from Gov. Jerry Brown (D).”

Fast forward to last few back to back years of emergencies because of a knee jerk decisions back in 2017 that CA has to be the most green.

‘California’s Shift From Natural Gas to Solar Is Playing a Role in Rolling Blackouts’
“… the blackouts were also a side effect of the state’s increasing shift to solar power and away from natural-gas-fired generators, according to state grid operator CAISO and Wood Mackenzie analysts. This shift pushed back the moment of “net peak” demand on the state’s grid — a measure of total demand minus renewable energy’s contribution — into later in the evening, leaving CAISO with less dispatchable generation to fill in shortfalls between supply and demand.”

Apparently state legislature, pollution gurus, CPUC or governor lack the ability to make the simple admission.

We apologize to the citizens of CA, we screwed up by not having alternatives in place for peaker plants before eliminating them and we will again allow peaker generation facilities to be built and operated.
Yeah I know, . . . I’m not expecting Hell to freeze over either.

Yea, but keep welcoming the hoards crossing the southern border illegally. Plenty of water, electricity, food, free phones, medical care, and affordable housing for them. Us? Start cutting back sucker.

you are so right, Kauai Mike

.
The US is slowly turning into a Third World Country due to energy, immigration, and social policies. Thanks liberals!

Overnight we got the house down to 69°F. We are sealed up and ready for the heat. Dinner will be grilled outdoors as to not introduce heat source inside.
.

Luckily I turned thermostat to 72 before this was announced so I can keep it there..
Well it’s usually at 73 anyway but I’ll take another notch colder in the house. What’s another $100 on the monthly bill..

I will when they will

Lets all go and plug in our electric vehicles and charge them up.
Newscum says that is Ok
He is a GENIUS when it comes to these things.

Imagine, in a few more years when more cities have banned natural gas in new construction in favor of all electric. These alerts could become on days with temps in the 90s. Hours between 4 – 9pm when families have dinner using electric appliances.

Ideas for the future are good, but passing a resolution, bill or ordnance without having a capable and robust infrastructure in place to support implementation of those ideas should automatically be cause for those responsible for resultant failures, to no longer be allowed to hold positions of authority. Would apply to unelected bureaucrats on up to politicians.

I know, I know, . . . will never happen in CA, the land of vote and fail to provide adult supervision.

Nope…. I pay my bill I’ll do what I want with the electricity I pay for.

People who spent lots of money on their beautiful yards must now watch it die a crispy brown death, according to Newsom
Drive by and see if his yard is all brown and dead..

I’m sure glad I don’t have an electric car.
