Concord Police To Crack Down On DUI Drivers This Weekend

Additional officers from the Concord Police Department will be on patrol tonight and tomorrow from 8:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. looking for drivers suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

Police say impaired driving is not just from alcohol. Some prescription medications and over-the-counter drugs may interfere with driving. Always follow directions for use and read warning labels about driving or operating heavy machinery, which includes driving a car.

Driving under the influence of marijuana is also illegal.

Drivers caught driving impaired and charged with DUI will pay a stiff price: an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license.

Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration

Thank you CPD!!

DUI is punishable by death in some counties. We could learn from them.

+1

I smell weed around cars now when I stop at lights.
Book’em Dano.
Oh, excuse me, cannabis.

could you all get speeders as well!!

If you are pulled over while under the influence of certain prescription drugs (e.g., opioids, cannabis), even if you’re legitimately not impaired, do NOT divulge any of your health information (including medications you take, whether prescribed to you or not) to the authorities. Also do not bring such medications with you in the car.

It is virtually impossible for law enforcement to establish a colorable case if you don’t provide a corroborating statement. Consent only to a BREATHALYZER, and do not consent to a request for a blood, urine sample. Even if you’ve not taken such drugs for several days (or weeks with cannabis), your sample may test positive.

Of course, I don’t condone impaired driving ever. But I detest law enforcement bullying or duping citizens into waiving their rights even more

I hope you’re an attorney in offering legal advice….

Who’s offering legal advice?
