Statewide Food Stipend Extends To School Children

The U.S. Department of Agriculture will give stipends to 4 million California school children who would have relied on free lunch programs this past school year if it wasn’t for pandemic-related school closures.

Beginning August and September of this year, the state will issue about $4.3 billion in funds via Pandemic Electronic Benefits Transfer cards to cover the days that eligible children did not receive a meal at school between the months of August 2020 through January 2021.

The program closely follows the USDA’s recent approval to issue funds to children under the age of 6 who depend on daycare facilities for nutritious meals.

To determine eligibility, California will depend on school data and USDA simplifying assumptions. New students who weren’t a part of the National School Lunch Program in the 2019-2020 school year will be able to certify their needs throughout the traditional application for school meals.

The program extends to public, charter and private schools and will make payments based off of the school’s opening status for each month of the school year. For schools that do not provide adequate information on its students’ school meal dependency or its opening status, the state will depend on local statistics from adjacent schools.

Since when is it the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture responsibility to feed your children…shouldn’t this be on the parents? And, to give retroactive stipends from 8/2000 through 1/2001 for meals that should’ve been eaten but weren’t due to school closures, well this just adds insult to injury. Where’s my stipend to help cover the health insurance premium of $1,800 month for that period that I did not get to seek proper medical care due to closures? These children have already been fed…$4.3 billion for meals missed, unbelievable!

Took the words right from my fingers

.
People who cannot afford to shelter, clothe, educate, and feed children should refrain from having children.
.

Schools have been giving out lunch & breakfast to any children in California that wanted or needed it. Why are they now giving food stipends for a time that has already passed? Grab & Go meals were available. I know many families that took advantage of this. These stipends are not needed. We need people in government that now how to handle a budget.

I was thinking the same thing. I have several friends who work in the public schools. Two are in food service and I know for a fact that bagged school lunches have been available to students throughout the pandemic. There were drive through pick ups and the free lunches were handed out.

yay lets give money to the people who could not work

oh errrr not on the dem agenda

as this seems destined for illegals and equity bias

It’s sure great to waste that fed money on this BS. If you can’t feed them don’t breed them. Don’t depend on others to feed you kids.

Why do so many people have children they can’t afford to feed? This is not the depression.

are illegal aliens and child of the same eligible?

Wait, what a total crock of bull****, I’m old enough to remember schools still went out of their way to tell people during scamdemic to still come down to get their FREE food, and this was for ANY kid, no verification, no questions asked. But we’re still going to PAY these people for food they STILL had access to? Oh well no big surprise, the NSLP, which is more than just lunch now, is one of the biggest SCAM giveaways going. Please asteroid, just come and do your thing.

So yeah remember

Those illegals kids are in schools systems
We pay for that as well as their housing and medical and any voluntary medical actions

>%>For schools that do not provide adequate information<<>> the state will depend on local statistics from adjacent schools.<<<

So they are going out of their way
billing us not only for the payouts
but for their extra time to find any and all non reported applicants

And many states have reported that over 30 thousand or more ballots were mailed to illegals to vote in several swing states and all blue states all per the census records

We know who has the money to do that and who pushed for scanners that could be hacked

But by all means protect the dems while they make your kids and their children pay the hundreds of trillions of dollars supporting illegals while American citizens kids go hungry and homeless

Your ok with that obviously

Guess now I know why my federal tax return is still processing” roll my eyes!
Everytime I went on a walk with my kids to the park and passed the elementary school people were at the school gate offering here here here lunches and food to anyone that passed by. My friend said a school bus would drive through her condos and hand out like 2 days worth of meals to anyone who wanted or needed. So there was help.

I think most of us have enough resources of our own to help the kids out there! Good grief.

You pay for it then.

Let’s set aside the quibbles with taxpayers funding a colossally wasteful and fraud-ridden program to do the PARENTS’ JOB NUMERO FRICKIN UNO, which is FEED THEIR KIDS.

So forgetting that for a minute and focusing on this particular story, we the taxpayers are “reimbursing” these people for meals that were LITERALLY ALREADY PROVIDED…all people had to do was drive up to a school that was a distribution point and they were given bags of food, no questions asked, EV-ER-EE DAY.

Having worked in the elementary school system for almost 40 years, I’ve seen SO MANY kids who received free lunches toss most of it away! As a colleague once said: “You could feed a third world country with all the food that’s thrown away at an elementary school site”! The kids don’t want the healthy stuff…fruits, veggies etc. They want the sweet snack stuff!

Why would a government compensate for a past meal that’s been taken care of already. Doesn’t anyone in government object when plans like this are batted around? Are those employees who know better so afraid of being cancelled or insulted?

Unbelievable. And the people have no say in the matter.

your question
Why would a government compensate for a past meal that’s been taken care of already.
because the voters believe the numbers
…..
they provide some ebt cards ….
people hear and say yay

actual funds alloted are much higher… and disappear
why do you think these public servants are richer than we are
live better than us
have their children go to private school
no dem politician actually works for a living yet are millionaires
why because you believe the numbers
all of them be it spending or virus infection numbers or number of children
or number of passengers on bart
its the same scam thats been going on for years in this state

the politician’s steal money give most to the unions the unions then donate to the politicians

we are the atm that never runs out of money

and you keep working and paying them

so get back to work and stop worrying about what you all ready approve of in the first place

you want to be ruled and told what to do and be poor while they get rich

or else it would not be happening

again this is what you want ….thats why its happening
this is what you want …that is why its happening

and your children are taught to want the same thing by you and the schools

I don’t know about other school districts in California, but I do know MDUSD has been providing free school meals for the kids or parents to pick up. What’s the excuse to pass out this retroactive stipend?

We got minimum 1 email per week and frequent robocalls from MDUSD throughout this entire scamdemic, literally HUNDRED+ communications telling all families they could come get food regardless of eligibility for NSLP, which we’ve never been on or applied so these were going out to EVERYONE.

That’s what is wrong with this state all you money grubbing nosey people that like to stick you’re nose we’re it don’t belong get a life and MIND you’re own Business
