Concord Police arrested three drivers on suspicion of DUI while conducting a DUI enforcement patrol on Friday night.
Drivers charged with DUI face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license.
Concord Police will be holding a series of DUI enforcement patrols in the near future.
Funding for this DUI Patrol was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Its not 13 thousand dollars not sure where you get that number from. More like 4 thousand total with the 1800$ fine and 1800$ classes. If you need a breathalizer add 70 a month and 70 for install.
The $13,500 amount is the estimated ten year cost. Most of the cost is because your insurance rates go up significantly.
Here’s a page that shows some of the math for the Los Angeles area. https://www.losangelesduiattorney.com/dui-faq/how-much-does-a-dui-cost-in-southern-california/
Don’t forget lawyer fees.
Awesome job CPD! 3 more drunk drivers off the road.
If you decide to get a lawyer that’s another added cost. I got popped for DUI 15+ years ago (long story, charges were never filed) and just my lawyer that I got cost me $5,000 for the retainer. A friend used that same lawyer years later and his retainer had gone up to over $7,000 at the time.
That was for one of the top DUI lawyers here in the Bay Area. I’m sure there are cheaper options or you could go with a public defender.
A cheaper option: UBER
@KenInConcord……sage advice.

Anyone who drives drunk is a selfish narcissist.
