Gas prices have reached an average of $5.01 a gallon in Mono county, near Yosemite, according to AAA.
QUESTION: Do you believe we’ll see $5 a gallon gas prices this summer here in the Bay Area?
Talk about it….
.
Likely.
.
Thanks to Newsom and his 50 cent per gallon gas tax.
.
And you all wonder why the cost of living is so high in CA…. liberals and Democrats.
Summer begins on June 20th. I expect w’ell see 5 dollars a gallon before then
.. .yes! Newsom said in his speeches before elected into office he would get to the bottom of the gas price gouging by the oil companies and fix it (especially in the Bay Area). Did he? noooooooo another unfilled campaign promise …
No money to improve pipeline infrastructure, gotta send that money to Israel and illegal aliens.
I won’t be surprised if it reaches five bucks, or more. The price of gas affects everything we buy because all goods, including the material to produce and manufacture the goods have to be transported. When the cost of transportation goes up, so does everything else.
Be prepared to pay double what you are paying now for groceries, PG&E, clothes, appliances, and everything else.
Give credit to those who deserve it,

Yes, $5 by end of summer, them maybe $6 by end of year. What do you expect from a president and vice president who want to cap off all oil wells and stop pipelines. (Unless they’re Russian ones to Europe)
It’s not going to be pretty folks!
There’s not going to be good quality of life by the next 4 years. I expect higher everything. Inflation, crime, homeless and misery!
+1
Maybe if people boycotted getting gas for one day the prices would go down.
I’ve been seeing this idea for years. They’ll either buy the day before or the day after the boycott and oil companies won’t miss one penny.
Wait, we haven’t heard the excuse about the price increase because of switching over to the summer blend yet…
They’re saving that for when they go over $5.00. Or, they’ll have another refinery fire. Your choice.
Not that anyone here would pass up a chance to bash California or look at real stats, but the AAA site reveals the average California price at $4.15, and the only other county aside from Mono above $4.36 is Alpine county next door. Looking at gasbuddy.com reveals 9 open gas stations in Mono and 3 in Alpine. Are we really getting worked up about the average price for 12 remote gas stations? Is everyone taking a trip on 395 sometime soon? I see the Arco in Bishop is at $3.85, maybe just a matter of not gassing up in Bridgeport and Lee Vining?
@Drew
A voice of reason, you have no place here.
So you are showing us that things are even worse than we thought. The incompetence in Washington DC from Biden and other Marxist conspirators is even having a negative impact three thousand miles away up in the mountains as far away from the swamp as you can get. There is no place to hide from poor policies.
Inflation, inflation, inflation…
Can I please have the Orange Man back? The old man with Alzheimer’s and his cronies are screwing everything up.
I think a lot of people will soon be thinking & saying : “Things were better under Trump”.
With my Kroger discount I gassed up for $2.39 a gallon yesterday. And people here are complaining about the high price of gas right now. It was under $2 a gallon when we started looking at houses back in September. Biden made this moment possible, although the Liberal Media Complex will never lay the blame at his feet.
Y’all accused Trump of being crazy but at least our gas prices were low. Thank you to all the millions of Americans who voted for Biden. Cant even imagine what else is going to go up while he’s in office 🙄
Liberals never saw a tax they didn’t like. However, one positive with the higher gas prices is it may reduce the sales of big SUVs.
@Dorothy did you say the same thing when people called Trump names, or is it only bad when we call democrats names?
This is without a doubt, absolute, 100% proof the election was fixed………who in their right mind was saying, “Yeah, I’d love to pay $5 a gallon for gas”……..THANKS ALOT YA A#*HOLE LIBS!!!!
Gosh.
Posts like Dorothy’s are among my favorites.
My sympathies to the “husband”.
Likely why females like Ho are so successful.
Now folks don’t get your tightie whities (sorry Jojo) all soiled!
Joe Biden was very up front about screwing the oil industry and driving prices up!
He said he’d raise taxes too… said it loud & clear….. and that’s why he won the election…. he promised to raise prices & taxes!
He said we’d have to PAY MORE!
and that’s why people voted for him…….. doesn’t that make sense?
What fraud?
Expensive gasoline is intentionally being caused, because it drives more people into buying electric vehicles. An as those two guys in Texas found out, if during a wreck batteries are physically damaged . . . . . . .
The “Big Guy” doesn’t care about gas. The only thing three letter word he cares about is jobs!

Buy ELECTRIC !!!!
What happened? I thought a year ago oil as negative and someone had to pay them to off load barrels? Sounds like a scam to me
What happened?
Well a barrel of Texas Crude Intermediate closed at $63.36 at a similar level we have seen in April of 2019 (04/23/19 at $66.30) or less than for example in 2018 (10/03/18 at $76.41)

Seems like you already forgot that we went through a major recession where world wide demand for oil and thus the prices went very low.
So if Trump was in the White House right now instead of Biden, energy independent America would still be paying $4 – $5 for a gallon of gas?
Everyone who believes that please post a smiley face.
Well Jellyfinger, I see you share my view that if Trump was still in the White House the economic recovery would not have reached the level it has, so yes demand would still be lower and thus prices would be lower.
You live in a dream world.
I drive an electric car, have not purchased gasoline in 4 years on my daily driver…..my truck is ICE so I do buy gas.
I can charge my car for free at work, so why would I drive a ICE car when I have an EV?
I hope it goes to $6 per gallon, maybe some of the asshats that drive 100MPH on the freeway will possibly slow down, but I doubt that as they hopefully will be Darwin winners someday.
Where do you think the electricity for your car comes from? Fossil fuel fired generators. So in the end, it runs on gas.
According to March 22, 2021 pacific Research institute “A recently-released study from Stillwater Associates notes that “price increases due to taxes and fees are not insignificant,” and calculates the government gas taxes and fees add about $1.19 per gallon to the price of fuel in the Golden State.
These include the federal excise tax (18.3 cents per gallon), state excise tax (50.5 cents per gallon), sales tax applied to the price of gas plus excise tax (which is effectively double taxation), underground storage tank cleanup fee (2.0 cents per gallon), cap and trade costs (about 14.3 cents per gallon), and the Low Carbon Fuel Standard (about 22.6 cents per gallon based on current prices).”
“Fossil fuels are the largest sources of energy for electricity generation. … Natural gas is used in steam turbines and gas turbines to generate electricity. Coal was the third-largest energy source for U.S. electricity generation in 2020—about 19%.

So, electricity is not made with magic fairy dust???? 😏🤨
CAtoTX, my comment was directed to Dorothy. She must have run out of books to report on. Here’s one Dorothy: The Art of Happiness, by the Dalai Lama.
Newsom: Note to self. Keep gas prices high and more people will buy into our EV fantasy.
Keep roads in poor condition in the Republican communities.
Keep mask requirements to reinforce my status of a caring leader.
Spend our State surplus budget as quickly as possible on my pet projects and then when the Feds send the State money I’ll use it for Infrastructure projects.
You get what you vote for. Actions have consequences.
