California has to protect crooks before hard-working citizens. Keep voting Democrat for more of this garbage.

Steve May 12, 2021 - 7:14 PM - 7:14 PM

Loser

Sam May 12, 2021 - 8:58 PM - 8:58 PM

Just more mutated vaxed people shedding all over the place

The Fearless Spectator May 12, 2021 - 9:42 PM - 9:42 PM

It’s a Newsom thing.

Mike May 12, 2021 - 9:46 PM - 9:46 PM

I’m not really sure why anybody would be against this. If anything it is for the protection and safety of the prison guards and all of the support staff that work in the prisons. When you have human beings confined in very small quarters in very large numbers and you add a virus to that you are asking for trouble. I vaccinating them they’re reducing the risk of a massive outbreak inside the facility. What are you going to do if all of the prison guards get sick? Why is it that we take such a inhumane approach to how we look at people in jail? I know California has its issues but every single one of us makes mistakes, some of us make worse mistakes than others, but those people are in their paying for their crimes and the least we can do is prevent them from dying unnecessarily by providing a simple vaccination

CJRN May 13, 2021 - 7:34 AM - 7:34 AM

Mike, it may be that the “inhumane” approach that many have towards those who are incarcerated are really fed up with the violence, pain, and loss of innocent lives that many of these inmates have caused. I dunno, just a guess🤷🏼‍♀️

Pyrrhus May 13, 2021 - 9:04 AM - 9:04 AM

Well, whatever we are doing in America is obviously not working. We are so focused on punishment instead of rehabilitation and prevention. We have the largest prison population per capita. I’m sure some countries are under reporting like China. For a country that likes to tout freedom we sure do like to put people in prison.

The Professor May 13, 2021 - 11:15 AM - 11:15 AM

@Mike-
” What are you going to do if all of the prison guards get sick?”
1. Get them vaccinated and problem solved by common sense.
2. Release them all and make them our problem (again). Problem solved by Sacto politicians.

BTW, I have no problem vaccinating inmates.

@Pyrrhus-
“For a country that likes to tout freedom we sure do like to put people in prison.”

You have the freedom to do what you want, within the law. Abuse your freedom by committing a crime and it will be taken away. We all learn this lesson at an early age, Aparantly some learn it better then others and need to be “reminded”.

Rollo Tomasi May 13, 2021 - 12:28 PM - 12:28 PM

@Mike:

You made a couple errors related to vocabulary. You wrote “mistakes” rather than “crimes”.

Oh, please May 13, 2021 - 6:36 PM - 6:36 PM

People do not end up in prison (esp multiple times) because of simple mistakes. They end up there because they are BAD people.

And, we absolutely do NOT punish people in America. We give them free medical care, meals, room and board and they don’t even have to work in prison! You are right. That does not work. We need actual PUNISHMENT. Rehab does not work with most of these folks. A faster track toward executing repeat bad people would save everyone money, time and grief.

Dawg May 12, 2021 - 10:17 PM - 10:17 PM

What’s preventing prison staff from getting the vaccine from their doctor, or at their local Rite Aide, or the county? Maybe the ones that didn’t get the vaccine don’t want it.

Concord Guy May 13, 2021 - 8:35 AM - 8:35 AM

Exactly.

Pyrrhus May 13, 2021 - 9:15 AM - 9:15 AM

Seriously, if you want the vaccine you can get the vaccine at this point. Thank goodness the vast majority of Californians have taken COVID serious and have received their vaccine. We could be like other states that are having to bribe their citizens with $1M lotteries.

Ano May 13, 2021 - 10:26 AM - 10:26 AM

@pyrrhus
You can NOT rehabilitate pedophiles and/ or sex offenders. They will always want to hurt children and women. They need to be confined.

Aunt Barbara May 12, 2021 - 10:37 PM - 10:37 PM

When they find out the long term effects of the vaccine (like they do with all drugs) we will see why they were so generous.

Old-school guy May 13, 2021 - 6:37 AM - 6:37 AM

This is so wrong.

Concord Guy May 13, 2021 - 8:34 AM - 8:34 AM

Given the political leanings of much of the on-site California Department of Corrections staff, this doesn’t surprise me. Covid vaccinations are now readily available everywhere in the state. There is no excuse for them to not have gotten their shots.

remember May 13, 2021 - 9:48 AM - 9:48 AM

inmates in kalifornia prisons can get sex changes paid for by the tax payers, so why wouldn’t they get as much free stuff as possible

JimmyJam May 13, 2021 - 11:12 AM - 11:12 AM

Isn’t the vaccine free for everyone?

Rollo Tomasi May 13, 2021 - 12:26 PM - 12:26 PM

@JimmyJam:

Yes, the vaccines are free for everyone. The pharmaceutical companies are just donating it for the common good and eating the cost of research, development, production and distribution.

What a rube.

Janus May 13, 2021 - 1:29 PM - 1:29 PM

@ JimmyJam

Free isn’t the word I would use.

The people of the United States have agreed to the following:

Johnson & Johnson will be paid over $1 billion for 100 million doses. Moderna received nearly $1 billion for its COVID-19 vaccine development and is set to receive an additional $1.5 billion for 100 million doses. Pfizer will receive $1.95 billion for 100 million doses with an option for 500 million more doses at God only knows what price per dose. AstraZeneca received up to $1.2 billion upfront, in exchange for at least 300 million doses.

By my calculations it will cost more than $6.65 billion dollars for those “free” vaccinations.

ConcordRez May 13, 2021 - 10:29 AM - 10:29 AM

Vaccines are readily available. The only reason I can think that this situation exists is that the unvaccinated guards CHOSE to forego the vaccine. Neither the governor nor his party has anything to do with barring them from science and good practice

Geberx May 13, 2021 - 12:25 PM - 12:25 PM

This should not come as any surprise, the State, from the beginning has had a priority for those that cost the State Money, unlike Florida, where the priority was those that would die … This to will fade given Vaccinations are now widely available, but less us not forget, that the original thought process from our elected officials was all about self interest and continued cash flow to big Sacramento Government

bdml May 13, 2021 - 3:27 PM - 3:27 PM

Anyone who wants it get it, anyone who doesn’t don’t get it. Pretty simple, this has a 99.92% recovery. If you are scared or believe all the stats that have been released act as you are told…
