Contra Costa County Makes COVID-19 Vaccine Available To All, Regardless Of Where They Live Or Work

Contra Costa County officials announced Monday that the county now has enough COVID-19 vaccine supply to make doses available to anyone, regardless of whether they live or work in the county.

Since the county received its first vaccine shipments in December, doses have only been available to people age 16 and older who live or work within the county’s borders.

That limiting factor continued even as the county’s supply of vaccine surged in late March and early April, which enabled the county to open vaccine doses to everyone 16 and up on March 30, roughly two weeks before the state’s April 15 target to do so.

Now, with more than 1.1 million doses administered and 70.4 percent of county residents 16 and up having received at least one dose, county officials said Monday that supply has officially surpassed demand within the county, with some appointments at county-run vaccine clinics going unfilled in the past two weeks.

“We’ve always said that this virus doesn’t recognize borders. Now we can say that Contra Costa County no longer cares about borders when it comes to getting people vaccinated against COVID,” county Health Officer Dr. Chris Farnitano said in a statement. “To end the pandemic, we need to vaccinate as many people as possible – not just people from Contra Costa, but from all over.”

The expansion of vaccine eligibility will not hamper the county’s ability to continue vaccinating people who live and work in Contra Costa County, according to officials.
Eligible people seeking to get vaccinated in Contra Costa County can schedule an appointment online at https://covidvaccine.cchealth.org/COVIDVaccine or by calling (833) 829-2626.
Vaccinations are also available on a walk-in basis at several county clinics. Information on walk-in clinics can be found at https://www.coronavirus.cchealth.org/walk-in-vaccine.

And now the F.D.A is set to approve the Pfizer vaccine for 12-15 year-olds by early next week. This should make it easier to get the middle schools and high schools open for in-person instruction this fall, if not earlier. Of course the anti-vaxxers will do their best to talk parents out of getting their kids vaccinated.

Weird…. haven’t been vaccinated and have been around thousands of people business trips and vacations with no mask. I also don’t have poison in my body. #winning

@The Observer
You quoted: “This should make it easier to get the middle schools and high schools open for in-person instruction this fall, if not earlier.”

I have to say that that is one of the most ridiculous quotes ever, as schools being opened or closed has absolutely NOTHING to do with vaccines.

And if parents choose not to vaccinate their young children, that most certainly DOES NOT make them anti-vaxxers. You better go back to the drawing board.

Wrong there no correlation to the spread of COVID-19 and school age children as stated by the CDC since the beginning. Go run along and come back with your cut and paste proof. Continue hiding and being controlled. It’s been almost a year and a half and your still hiding and being scared as your told.

Children should have returned to school last fall. The New York Post obtained emails from the cdc stating that the teacher unions have been directing them on the guidance to return to school. Criminal! Also the teachers union is a huge contributor to the democratic party. They have given record amount of contributions this year. The democratic party does not give a rat’s a$$ about the kids. The democratic party only cares about power, money and votes at any cost. China Joe now states that kids probably will be able to go back to school in the fall. China Joe is no leader and makes this country look very weak.

This is a good move and welcome news. Thank you.
Now you can get the vaccine whether you work or visit here. Every shot helps us get us closer to safe reopen and complications from becoming infected. Comments from anti-vaxers are contrary to those.
Mike Pence and wife, and many others got the vaccine and encouraged others to do so as well: https://www.foxnews.com/politics/pence-gets-coronavirus-vaccine

Why isn’t CoCo County moving into the yellow tier
We have given over a million vaccines out as of last week. CoCo county only has 1.1 million people. That sounds to me that everybody that wants a vaccine. Has gotten at least one dose.
LET GET BUSINESSES OPEN AND GET PEOPLE BACK TO WORK AND OFF THE GOVERNMENTS PAYROLL.

They can KEEP their POISON!
I’m not “ANTI VAX”….JUST anti POISON!

Chuq May 3, 2021 - 11:43 PM - 11:43 PM

How do you feel about measles vaccines? Polio?

Miles May 4, 2021 - 7:57 AM - 7:57 AM

The polio and measles vaccines are *approved vaccines* that have years of studies behind them. You simply can’t compare a vaccine with an emergency use order (that has a release of all liability you accept by taking it highlighting that it is not approved, aka use at your own risk). You can’t compare them to the Covid vaccine.

The Fat Cat May 4, 2021 - 8:06 AM - 8:06 AM

lol, no, you’re just anti vax

bdml May 4, 2021 - 8:42 AM - 8:42 AM

@ The Fat Cat

Where does it say they are anti anything other than being a lab rat? Take your shot like a good little boy and you can have some cookies and milk before dinner…

Anon May 4, 2021 - 9:19 AM - 9:19 AM

First of all, Chuq DOES ZERO research. It doesn’t take much to discover that Polio disappeared when DDT was banned.

Next, ALL vaccines are immune to lawsuits (use at your own peril) dating back to 1986.

3rd, Not all of us want to risk our health for something with a 99.7% recovery rate. BTW, tell us all what happened to the flu in 2020???

Dr. Colleen Huber is a Naturopathic Medical Doctor in AZ. She is NOT a medical doctor. Naturopathy is considered by the medical profession to be ineffective and harmful.

Dr. Anthony Stephen Fauci is an American physician-scientist and immunologist who serves as the director of the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and the chief medical advisor to the president.

Why not listen to an accredited expert instead of a quack?

bdml May 4, 2021 - 8:44 AM - 8:44 AM

You are right I quit listening to flip flop fauci over a year ago. He is a paid liar but follow the pied piper if you wish…

chuckie the troll May 4, 2021 - 9:01 AM - 9:01 AM

There is absolutely no (good) reason for people to not get vaccinated now. We both got ours, just like the other flu vaccine. And everything should just be open: schools, Churches, ball parks, restaurants… everything! Time to come out of your hidie holes and enjoy life again.

Re vaccines, Having had an aunt who was wheel chair bound (after she got out of an iron lung) because of polio, there is no soft spot in my heart for anti-vaxers or people who are too selfish to get the China Syndrome Vaccine. We have problems with Whopping Cough because of folks like you.

bdml May 4, 2021 - 9:52 AM - 9:52 AM

Demonizing people seems to be what you are all about and applying labels. I have had many relatives pass away from various ailments like everybody else but not once did I blame anybody else. You actually are the problem and the people that think and act like you. You have been a tool on this site for quite some time…

Deemoney May 4, 2021 - 1:35 PM - 1:35 PM

I don’t understand the direction of the country right now. First it was race and BLM and George Floyd that divided us, then the election and Trump vs Biden dividing us more, now it’s vax vs no vax to further separate us. Why can’t we just want to get the vaccine or not want to get the vaccine and everyone just be OK with the fact that as Americans we have the right to chose what we do or don’t want. Not everything is a soapbox moment, people fought for these rights for us, don’t let the new normal tear apart the values that were instilled in us. Agree to disagree and let it be, ripping each other apart over everything will just widen the ever growing divide in our society.

Annoyed May 4, 2021 - 4:07 PM - 4:07 PM

I never thought I would agree so much with anything Chuckie the troll out on here, but the day has come! Stop being afraid of the vaccine, living in fear of leftist technology is no way to live.
