Scott’s Seafood on N. California in Walnut Creek has permanently closed, according to a message on the businesses’ website.
The website did not give a reason for the closure, but they did say their Oakland restaurant is still open for business.
Thanks to John for the tip.

Lockdowns or riots?
Should WC Residents riot over the loss of Scott’s leading to city wide lockdowns?
Too bad. Maybe something else good will move in there.
Olive Garden!
There’s an Olive Garden AND a Red Lobster within a half hour drive of our home.
Wow! Exactly what paradise are you living in?
Jojo Potato, … Because we help each other out here and we like you.
Olive Garden and Red Lobster are next to each other on north side of Century Blvd. Pittsburg, CA. By the movie theater.
Burlington and Target also nearby.
I’m not driving to Pittsburg.
Olive Garden ain’t that good.
Didn’t Scott’s have a garden?
Light bulb.
Scott’s Olive Garden
It has been closed down for a long time they moved their catering business to Blackhawk. The Scott’s in Oakland is still open and has great views of the water and great food.
I have great memories of this restaurant.
It was one of our favorites we celebrated anniversaries, birthdays and retirement dinners at Scott’s. When we went out for last anniversary they had the closed sign on the door and we couldn’t believe that the virus also took down Scott’s.
So sad
So do I.
Scott’s was a lovely restaurant where the food was always good. Our family enjoyed many happy celebrations there. Sad to see it closed for good.
Well… seafood restaurants are all about their net profit….
And their bottom line…
Maybe they’ve reached their limit & had to scale back…
Gotta keep the company afloat…
Besides that, Oakland location is their anchor store.
I’d keep going but the limit on puns is 5.
It’s too bad. I was really hooked on that place. Sounds like a lot of us are in the same boat. But don’t be too crabby. Oakland is still open.
RIP. Scotts Seafood sleeps with the fishes.
That is a shame. I really liked Scott’s in Oakland and Walnut Creek.
By the way, there is a new Scott’s Seafood in old town Folsom if you get out that way. Not to be confused, they closed one location and just opened the new location. I haven’t been there yet (thank you, Pandemic), but looking forward to it!
The Scott’s in Folsom is not related to either Scott’s in WC or Oakland.
Many great memories there. If this does not make people wake up to vote Newsom out, nothing will. How many businesses have been brought down by this Corrupt Cad?
Recall the Problem, so California can thrive again!
sure…we can make randy quaid governor of california. hahaha
Maybe Walnut Creek should focus on filling up current businesses & residents rather than building new stuff. Lots of vacancies over the last 2 years yet lots of new buildings. Let’s use the space we have !
But, but, but wait……with lots of empty buildings we have endless places to house the homeless!
Thank you Trump (and Republicans). If you hadn’t waited so long, acknowledged COVID, etc. None of us would still be in this mess.
I agree, orange man should Not have caved into the marxists and woke imbeciles crying ‘racism’ when he wanted to stop international flights.
Waited so long?
When Trump restricted air travel from China Biden called it “hysteria, xenophobia, and fear-mongering”
Pelosi was telling people to visit Chinatown.
De Blasio told folks to go out and see a show.
When Trump “cut through every piece of red tape to achieve the fastest-ever, by far, launch of a vaccine trial for this new virus” Biden said ““Let me be clear, I trust vaccines. I trust the scientists. But I don’t trust Donald Trump — and the American people can’t either” Kamala Harris said “that if Mr. Trump assured the nation that a vaccine was safe, she would not take his word for it”.
But Trump and Republicans “waited so long”
Yeah, right…
Thank you Trump for fast tracking the final steps of vaccine development that opened us back up.
Yes the same vaccine that Basement Biden received just weeks after his coronation.
.. been closed a long time… I reported on it then… but it’s strange… they were doing well with take outs (per the manager) then they were allowed to open with limited seating for a while.. then they had to close again but still allowing take out… they said they were doing well with it. Anecdotally heard the owner(s) had deep pockets so they would be able to weather it out…. then less than 2 weeks later – the place is abandoned! If you look inside it looks like they just picked up their food and liquor and walked out… everything was left as is ..tables, tablecloths, even a menu in the window. …. something else had to be going on… too bad.. the banquets were always busy, restaurant business busy, Sunday brunches for Easter, etc. always sold out… Nothing else comes close IMHO…. wish they would come back they have the business
One of many promises Biden made was that he had a plan and could manage the pandemic so much better. In January 2021, within weeks of inauguration, told us there is nothing he could for our long dark winter. What happened to his grand plan? Even used the same vaccine distribution plan Trump had in place. Newsom also said in December California to join the Federal plan in place as he had no plan either.
Biden had no plan. Wow, he purchased more vaccines as they became available.
January 2021 CBS News: The president also warned that “there’s nothing we can do to change the trajectory of the pandemic in the next several months.
Too bad Joe and his cohorts casted doubt on the vaccines during his campaign. Thank you Trump and Republicans for vaccines in record time.
Does anyone have contact information for the owners at the WC Scott’s?
… don’t know his name but I believe the owner of the one in Oakland is the same as WC …. if you talk to him ask him to come back 🙂
Thanks Randy

I wonder why Fox News is pushing more ignorance contrary to fighting COVID-19 intelligently. Carlson’s rant of harass the mask wearing people is beyond the pale.
The profit margin for upscale restaurants is very slim. It would not take much lose of income to close it down. I am sorry for loss of Scott’s.
Trump did such a great job! He lied and said he knew nothing about it, He then said don’t worry it’s just a flu, it would go away by Summer, just inject bleach to kill it, promoted unsafe drugs had massive rallies which ended up being super spreaders, caught it himself and still denied it was bad, wouldn’t wear a mask and made it a political point, contradicted leading health experts and was antagonistic towards them, gave zero guidance on how the states should handle COVID outbreaks because it was mainly hurting populous Blue States / Cities and was thought to be advantageous politically. The only good thing he did was the vaccines, that is about the only thing I can give him credit for.
Think about it, the country was in crisis and if he had just shuttup, let the experts do their jobs, and showed unity he would have easily won the election. Nobody was excited about Biden running for the Democrats, we were just more pissed off at Trump’s ineptitude and his stupid twitter hands. It’s been such a relief knowing that the president isn’t spending half his time on twitter and the other half on the golf course. He’s actually doing his job, and he’s done a great job with covid.
Biden came into office and set the priorities for fighting COVID. https://www.whitehouse.gov/priorities/covid-19/
He created a taskforce that gives briefings 3 times a week that he actually attends and is filled with experts not cronies. A widescale vaccine distribution plan that now has 40% of all adults having received at least the 1st dosage. By the end of May there should be enough vaccines for every Adult. Things are opening up and industry is coming back strong. We are in a much better position then most countries and will see an economic boom because of it. It’s amazing what happens when you are competent and have clear messaging from the beginning. Public trust has grown in the governments response to COVID. Only brain dead right wingers are saying Biden has done poorly with COVID, despite the best efforts of Fox and right wing blogs. Over 60% of Americans approve of his handling of COVID. Now, if you want to talk about his failure in immigration, I’m right there with everyone else.
Sorry Charlie
Doh and jazz man like living in the Communist society. Thank you Donald Trump for all you did on the Chinese virus. If it weren’t for Donald Trump, dictators like newscum and biden would have you locked in you home like china. The white house is like weekend at bernies.
Thank you Gov. Cuomo, Biden, Pelosi, Newsom, etc… and much of the Liberal Media Complex for sowing the seeds of distrust in the vaccines developed under the leadership of President Trump. If they had publicly embraced science, fewer people would be declining vaccination for COVID today.
Maybe the city can convert that squad bomb vehicle into a taco truck and park it in front. Win, win.
A Liberal’s Reason(s) for the Closure of Scott’s WC –
(Pick one or all three.)
1. Systemic Racism
(Too much white fish.)
2. Climate Change
(All the fishes gone bye bye because there is too much/too little water. )
3. Donald Trump
(Fishes go bye bye because they don’t like Orange Man Bad because he caused #1 and #2)
Dr. you are 100 percent correct as is time to go. Pyrrhus is a miss guided soul. Biden is riding on the coatails of a real President Donald Trump. If is wasn’t for Mr. Trump you haters would not even be vaccinated and still be locked in your homes. Doh what is beyond pale is how china joe and members of congress have divided this country on lies of racism, and how the media, China joe and members of congress have incited violence against anyone who has a different opinion. Also beyond pale is how big tech and biden are canceling freedom of speech and other constitutional rights.
Everything Phyrrus said is a lie. Other states safely opened up long ago, but wannabe-dictator newsom kept California needlessly locked down harming people and businesses.
The last time we ate at Scott’s Seafood was more than a year ago. We got a $100 gift certificate to Scott’s Seafood from one of our customers who came into the my workplace, a blueprint shop, to drop off some architectural plans. The food was good and service was good. We are bummed out knowing it will be permanently closed. It would have been a good place for the hubby and I to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary which is five years from now.
Newsom should have been recalled long ago and the restaurant would have continued to stay in business. I know that there are other good restaurants in Walnut Creek, but Scott’s Seafood would be a good choice for us to have our anniversary dinner.
You can go celebrate at the Oakland location. It has spectacular views
(Cue patriotic anthem)
War. Terrible war. Widows… Orphans… a motherless child… This was the uprising that rocked our land.
13 Districts rebelled against the country that fed them… loved them… protected them…
Brother turned on brother until nothing remained.
And then came the peace… Hard fought… Sorely won. A people rose up from the ashes. And a new era was born.
But freedom has a cost… When the traitors were defeated, we swore as a nation we would never know this treason again…
And so it was decreed that each year, the various districts of Panem would offer up in tribute one young man and woman, to fight to the death in a pageant of honor, courage and sacrifice.
The lone victor, bathed in riches, would serve as a reminder of our generosity and our forgiveness.
This is how we remember our past.
This is how we safeguard our future.”

I think Kerry King said it better:
Minutes seem like days
Since fire ruled the sky
The rich became the beggars
And the fools became the wise
Memories linger in my brain
Of burning from the acid rain
A pain I never have won
Nothing here remains
No future and no past
No one could foresee
The end that came so fast
Hear the prophet make his guess
That paradise lies to the west
So join his quest for the sun
Shades of death are all I see
Fragments of what used to be
The world slowly decays
Destruction fills my eyes
Harboring the image
Of a spiraling demise
Burning winds release their fury
Simulating judge and jury
Drifting flurries of pain
Deafening silence reigns
As twilight fills the sky
Eventual supremacy
Daylight waits to die
Darkness always calls my name
A pawn in this recurring game
Humanity going insane
Shades of death are all I see
Fragments of what used to be
Minutes seem like days
Corrosion fills the sky
Morbid dreams of anarchy
Brought judgment in disguise
Memories linger in my brain
Life with nothing more to gain
Perpetual madness remains
Shades of death are all I see
Skeletons of society
Fragments of what used to be
Skeletons of society
Did he write that or did Tom?
Just as a public service message, (and because we’d love the business!), we have been picking up many clients that booked their events at Scotts in the past. We are a 400 person occupancy events center just down the street in Broadway Plaza next to Macy’s. We would love to host your event!
hello@thebroadwayclubwc.com
Pyrrhus seems to forget that Democrats threw every roadblock they had in their arsenal in the path of the President at every turn. He may have forgotten they tried to impeach him twice and FAILED. With those kind of distractions, it’s remarkable that Trump did so exceptionally well during his one term in office.
Trump got the border crisis under control immediately, much to the distress of Democrats. He moved ahead on foreign policy with fake, whining, and misguided cries of “collusion” from liberals. The economy took off and unemployment figures dropped to their lowest in history with employment for minorities the highest ever recorded. Democrats never even acknowledged this because they were entirely focused in removing him from office. They did absolutely nothing productive or constructive while he was in office. They were focused solely on destroying him. Trump took action to bring vaccines to the population of the nation in record time. With Democrats undermining Trump’s efforts as have been mentioned above, Biden actually falsely claimed there was not a vaccine available when he entered office in January even though he had already had his shot.
All the hard work had already been DONE when Biden took office. Trump deserves all the credit for getting the nation through the pandemic crisis successfully.
I much preferred the Walnut Creek Scott’s to the Oakland one.
What a shame. Another once-successful business driven into the ground thanks to this state’s business-unfriendly policies.
Well the Oakland location is thriving and open. Maybe it has more to do to being in WC than the states “business policies”.
@JazzMan – More like if China contained the virus the world wouldn’t be a mess!
That’s Sucks I use to Work right across the street from Scotts at Extreme Pizza on the corner of N California Blvd and Cypress street.Scotts was Walnut Creeks most famous Restaurant known for Wedding party’s and live Bands playing music there
The Scott’s in WC was okay but not as good as the one in Oakland. Perhaps it was the cooks but it just wasn’t as good. And you can not beat the fabulous views at the Oakland location. WC location had no views. Pretty much like any restaurant that as a WC location and an Oakland, Berkeley or SF location, WC just is quite the same
Walnut Creek didn’t need views.
Gittyup – you mean Walnut Ditch. That is what we called it when we were kids. It use to be attractive but it’s just a bunch of buildings and concrete.
Did any of you stop to think that they might have been planning on closing the WC location when their lease was up. With the gentrification of downtown Oakland and the Jack London area having a suburban location for a restaurant isn’t as desirable as it once was.
Oakland isn’t as desirable as it once was.
Tell that to all the young master chefs opening restaurants in Oakland vs suburbia. And if they do pick suburbia they seem to pick Lafayette or Danville.
Oakland is on a monuments upswing. Finally.
Gladly. Which “master chefs” are you referring to … specifically?
How did the closing of a much loved local restaurant turn into a political soapbox for people to bash our past and current presidents? I will miss Scott’s. The Sunday brunch with Carlos Reyes was a treat. It was our Mother’s Day tradition. I, for one will miss Scott’s. And I’m damned tired of everything getting turned into a political debate. There’s much more to life than beating a horse that’s been dead for quite awhile. Can we agree to disagree? Let peace and forgiveness be our mantra, rather than violence and mayhem?
Sandy, everything is political; even using a public restroom. i.e. do I identify as a man or woman? It’s ridiculous.
@Sandy: You are right. According to the owners of Scott’s, the closure was not at all political. It was a result of a dispute between the restaurant and the landlord of the building. They had spent a lot of money renovating the Oakland location, and were hoping to negotiate a leasing deal for the WC location which the landlord wouldn’t agree to.
It seems reasonable that the problem was compounded by the fact that they didn’t offer any service for the past year, because the owners didn’t want to offer a take out menu. Perhaps had they been drawing in some revenue, they could have worked things out. Either way, it wasn’t politics that shut down WC location.
Look who spouted up…Natalie!…I missed you and your vast wealth of knowledge! It was so hard for me to make my own opinions without your input…. welcome back.
Sandy G – sadly some people make things political due to ignorance. They would rather complain and blame vs looking for real fact.
That location had horrible parking for a big event. We held a holiday office lunch there one year. We had 80 people and maybe 70 cars as some carpooled. It was raining and several people had to hunt for parking.
Hope the landlord is happy as that space will be a bear ro rent.
Thanks Natalie for the explanation for Scott’s closure. It figures it would be for something like that, makes sense. We also enjoyed the Sunday brunch for Mother’s Day, and I have such great memories. I guess we’ll need to go back over to Scott’s at the Square and check out the renovations! Sandy G & Well Folks, hear, hear! I so agree.
Reasons:
* Difficult parking situation
* Lowering quality of food
* Diminishing quantity of food per order, especially on take-out (and after you’ve driven all the way over there, too)!
* Charging more for food (even considering all the above)
* Landlord raising the lease to an exorbitant amount
Watch for another high rise announcement soon, I’m afraid.
Scott’s couldn’t negotiate better term with the landlord in Walnut Creek, according to a Bay Area News Group article.
They also spent a lot of money completely renovating the Oakland location. According to the article, they put money into hammered copper accents, Belgian wool carpeting, new leather seating, art work for the walls, a remodeled bar, and the new Red Room Lounge.
Despite spending so much on renovations, they chose not to offer take out last year at either of the 2 locations. For the past year, they have had no revenue. The owner said the didn’t want to offer food without “ambience”.
@Fred: It is sad for you that you think basic literacy is “expertise”. All I did was read a news article from the Bay Area News Group. It was not complicated. I was curious why the restaurant closed, so I did an internet search and found the answer as it was reported in the local newspaper. It is not all that impressive. So very sad for you that you are angry at me for doing something that anyone with a basic education can do. People here were posting disinformation so I clarified the facts of the situation based on what I read.
Oakland does not have the jazz seafood brunch. You order off menu 30++++ per meal and no endless champagne and not all that great brunch seafood. Very very sad
Trump did nothing about COVID-19. We should rename it the Trump virus because Trump made it worse. His China travel ban had lots of loopholes. Meanwhile infections came in from Europe.
Trump’s travel ban exempted the thousands of residents of Hong Kong and Macao and relatives of people with permanent visas. 8,000 Chinese nationals and foreign residents of the territories entered the U.S. During the first 3 months of the ban. (AP analysis of Commerce Department travel entry records) News of the virus was in an early January, 2020 Daily Briefing. Trump downplayed it for months though he was recorded on 2/7/2020 privately saying it was deadly and airborne. Trump said it was a hoax, an ordinary flu, it will disappear in April (2020) like magic and “if only 100,000-200,000 people die we would have done a good job.” Over 750,000 Americans have died so far. Trump had no distribution plan in place when a vaccine became available. Trump blew it.
Another wonderful business closes due to the psychopath liberal shutdown and destroy agenda. Vote these idiots out of office (and that includes pelosi and dim-bulb biden).
It’s was a greedy landlord. But don’t let fact stop you stupid political rant.
I’ve never been to either location, and I know the restaurant is very popular. But from what I’m reading elsewhere, I didn’t miss much from the way they conducted business.. They took “deposits” from many customers (including weddings) and never returned them. Nor did they return emails, phone calls, etc. One person said he/she contacted the DAs office.
So they didn’t want to offer “take-out” because it didn’t offer the “ambience.” For an upscale restaurant, that’s understandable.
No revenue or not, you don’t rip off the general public, especially during a pandemic.
How could Scott’s give up their location in Walnut Creek with the city’s record of superior law enforcement protecting local businesses?
Doh and Pyrrhus,
EXACTLY.
If it saves just one 85 year old life, it is worth a thousand business closures!
Wear the mask!
Two weeks to slow the spread!
We’re all in this together!
Build back better!
Ugh, we received a $200 gift card for shortly before the pandemic. THAT was the first place we were going to go when we felt comfortable dining out again. I was really looking forward to it!! Good to know there’s one in Oakland, but I commute enough as it is. I always enjoyed Scotts.
This one gone and I’m still hurt by the loss of Bangkok Kitchen near Todos Santos.
The real reason from was the company is very mismanaged. The books have not been balanced in well over two years and there has been fighting among the family that owns it and their managers.
They could not sustain two locations anymore, so they kept the one with so the owners could watch over everything.
It was a great spot and sad to see it go, but it wasn’t COVID or GAVIN, it was a family that fought and could not manage the books.
