Six Flags Entertainment Corporation announced Friday it is hosting a national hiring week through May 2 to bring in employees at its parks, including the Discovery Kingdom amusement park in Vallejo and Hurricane Harbor water park in Concord.

The parks are seeking applicants for food service, ride operations, lifeguarding, retail, warehousing and other positions. People can apply online at www.sixflags.com/jobs.

For the first time, new employees will receive a Gold Plus membership for themselves and up to three family members, according to Six Flags.

“”We offer tremendous flexibility for students and part-time wage earners, as well as retirees. We have a job for every lifestyle, including many full-time career placements, and Six Flags is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace with great opportunities for leadership development,” Six Flags executive vice president and chief administrative officer Laura Doerre said in a news release.

Good luck with that. People make more money staying home.

Remember how those of us who worked hard for our money missed out on like $15,000 of free government money? And how New york is even going to extend that to illegal aliens?

No justice in this country.

@ Pyrrhus

“ The problem with the older generation is that they are greedy. They think that because they had to suffer (they actually grew up in a booming economy with affordable housing) that everyone else should suffer the way they did. They think that if something doesn’t benefit them than nobody should benefit. Gen Z and Millennials to a lesser extent seems to have a lot more empathy and are much more accepting.”

Ah, I think you’ve got that backwards there. There is a reason people joke about millennials. Everything is about how it affects them and they have little concern for how their actions affect others. The “older” generation typically believes in working hard for their money and self responsibly. Something sorely missing in today’s world where everything is someone else’s fault.

“People are tired of working fir crap wages and no benefits.” “There are better opportunities with better pay.”

Keep in mind that these jobs really are not targeted to those seeking a full-time permanent career. They’re more for teens to earn some money during summer and to add to their resume.

Like I said Pyrrhuss, people are making more staying home. “There are better opportunities with better pay.” That seems to be the only basic economic principle you have a frim grasp of.

The minimum wage is bad for low skilled workers and our youth. You may think that there are no jobs that are worth taking if they pay less than $15/hr. When you raise the minimum wage to $15/hr you essentially limit or destroy any job that paid less than $15/hr. Who are you to say that I can’t work for $12/hr? Where did the magic $15/hr come from? Why not $20/hr? Using your logic we can cure poverty by simply mandating a higher minimum wage.

To call an entire generation greedy is ignorant. To call an entire generation empathetic is equally as ignorant. You sound like a cross between AOC and Bernie Sanders. A naive socialist with absolutely no clue how the real world operates.

I’d work at Hurricane Harbor if I was young and still in school. Hell, I’d work there when I retire just to get out of the house and look at women in bikinis all day.

From going there 2 years ago you probably won’t enjoy what you see unless you’re into large and in charge. Too each there own though. Good luck.

Yeah checking out chicks in bikinis sounds great, but the reality the majority of the time for the Concord Six Flags is you’re dealing with the ghetto crowd…same thing to a slightly lesser degree at Cowell pool during the summer. My oldest was a lifeguard at both over the course of two summers a few years ago, so many horror stories…my two youngest are currently lifeguards, they and their friends laugh at the idea of working there, ESPECIALLY Six Flags.

Old men can’t be choosy. I’m already at the point where everything under 30 looks young. I’d be living in the tall cottons at that place.
