Contra Costa County Launches Walk-In COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics

Contra Costa County officials announced Thursday that the county will begin offering walk-in COVID-19 vaccinations to eligible people who live and work in the county.

The county will operate multiple pop-up sites over the next several weeks with the California Office of Emergency Services, with the ability to administer 500 to 700 vaccines per day.

The first walk-in clinics will be placed in parts of the county that have been hardest hit by the pandemic like Richmond, Concord’s Monument Boulevard corridor and parts of East County.

“We want everyone to get vaccinated as quickly and conveniently as possible,” county Supervisor John Gioia said in a statement. “That’s why we are opening walk-in vaccination clinics in our hardest hit communities, especially communities of color. This effort helps us close the vaccine equity gap.”

Previously, vaccine-eligible people in Contra Costa County had to request an appointment, and would only be able to schedule a vaccination appointment after county officials manually reviewed the request.

The county opened vaccine eligibility to all residents 16 and older on March 30. As of Wednesday, 858,878 vaccine doses have been administered countywide.

About six to 10 volunteers are needed to help with shifts from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. People who volunteer don’t have to be fully vaccinated and may receive the vaccine as well. People interested should email Dawn.Morrow@bos.cccounty.us to sign up.

Walk-in clinics, open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., will be available through April 25 at the Veterans Memorial Hall in Richmond and the Antioch Community Center; April 26-May 2 at the Albert D. Seeno Jr. Pittsburg Youth Development Center and the St. John Missionary Baptist Church South Campus in Richmond; May 3-6 at Meadow Homes Elementary School in Concord; and May 3-9 at St. John Missionary Baptist Church North Campus in Richmond.

Poison? 😂 Right, right. It’s genetic engineering, it’ll make you sterile, you’ll end up with a cytokine storm, you’re getting a chip along with the poison, you’re all gonna die!

Don’t worry after you receive your second injection, sign up for your annual booster shot. Pfizer, J&J, and Moderna will have you enslaved for life. We are all in this together and only two more weeks to flatten the curve.

No thanks ! I’ll pass! The blanketing of vaccines is no good. I remember it was all about seniors, elderly and folks with co morbidities now they want healthy 16 to 50 year olds to get it and are testing on as young as 5 year olds. Aren’t all those who’ve had the vaccine test subjects ? I say yes they are and I’ll just sit back and watch what happens long term

When you say “the blanketing of vaccines is no good” what are you offering in support of that position. It sounds like you’re just saying nonsense but I’m willing to listen – what are you afraid will happen if people get this vaccine to build up their immunity to COVID. The obvious benefit is a reduced likelihood of getting the virus or a milder experience if you do get it. Those seem like pretty spiffy benefits. What’s the downside?

I guess it’s the hell with the older middle white class people.Who the hell do you think is paying the taxes.

I would like to remind the “health” organization and citizens in general. A growing number of humans have developed extreme anomalies and even chronic illness to unnatural foods and injections. Living with seizures and other life threatening diseases is not a joke to those affected. So I beg you to stop with the Nazi like accusations and lies.

You probably don’t want to get COVID-19 then …

Of course Gioia is backing this. He needs to look ahead for potential re-elect base with the pandering of undocs. The way the elections are conducted in our Sanctuary state you only need to show up w/sponsor to sign as witness where a “X” is marked for the “voter”.
And there is Seeno – needs the financial base to further the infill that will be supported by all us taxpayers!
So what’s new (changed)??

The opportunity to get the vaccine is an intelligence test.
Many Claycordians are failing the test. Science is the answer, those who fear science will suffer from their own ignorance.
